4. Front cover
I have chosen this design for my front cover because it has a
clear splash image on the front that will catch the readers
attention like on the covers of Kerrang!, NME and Rock Sound.
I have chosen a black and white image like on the front of NME
as I think that it suits the band and also the codes and
conventions of music magazines. Lots of images used inside
teach magazine I have looked at have been black and white. I
have chosen the font because it looks distressed and gives the
page a messed up look which mirrors a scrapbook. I have
found out from my research that it looks more appealing and is
easier to relate to is it looks as though you could put it
together too. I have put my masthead and cover line on a tilt
as I found that this is very common in rock music magazines, it
adds tot he image of the music.

7. Contents
I have used quite a lot of pictures on my contents page as all the
music magazines I looked at had several pictures on theirs. I think
that it makes the page look more interesting and can help readers
identify with bands. I have chosen to categorize my magazine into
different regular features. I think that this helps readers get
familiar with the magazine and can encourage them to become a
regular buyer. I decided to include a letter from the editor as it
featured in Rock Sound and Kerrang! I found them amusing to
read and it is a good opportunity to set the mood for my
magazine. I have used the same font styles on the contents page
as on the front cover, this helps with continuity and also gives the
magazine an identity.

10. Double page spread
For my double page spread I am having the right hand page as
one main image, this is commonly used in music magazines like
Kerrang! so I think it is a good thing for me to do so I can fit the
conventions. I have kept the main image in black and white. In
the DPS I looked at in Kerrang! they did this too. I think it can
look really effective and can stand out. I am also putting
another colour image onto the opposite page. It is important to
show a contrast to the picture on the other page. I have again
chosen the same fonts as my other pages as it adds to
continuity.
