4. Michael Luther King, Jr. was
born on January 15th
• Education in a segregated public school in
Georgia
• After he entered in Morehouse college at the
age of 15
• 1948: graduated with bachelor of arts in
sociology
• 1951 graduated with bachelor of divinity at
Crozer Theological Seminary in Pensylvania
• 1955 completed his studies in Sistematic
Theology at Boston University
6. King began his
ministry in 1954 as
the pastor of Dexter
Avenue Baptist
Church in
Montgomery,
Alabama.
Here he started fighting
civil right for members
of his race
7. His most famous speech
“I have a dream”. King
spokes to 250,000 civil
rights supporters on 28
August, 1963.
He called for racial
equality and the end of
discrimination.
It was a defining moment of
American Civil Right
Movement.
8. On April 4, 1968, while
standing on a balcony at the
Lorraine Motel in Memphis,
King was assassinated by
James Earl Ray.
