2. • Paul McCartney world widely know for being part of the
Beatles is promoting Britain. He is promoting it in the way
that people would expect it to be represented. This means
formal clothing with a cup of tea. The reason for this would
be to attract a cultured audience or even an elder
audience.
• The Mise en scene in this photo shoot would definitely be
promoting Britain. Mise en scene is what you see in the
image like the costume and clothing of the character or
person the props in the image the background image and
in the case of this image and who it targeting is people
abroad and this image was probably been released around
the time of the 2012 London Olympics‘. To get audience
from home and abroad to come and what the Olympics
they will need to advertise not just the Olympics but
Britain and what people think of when they see Britain.
• Mise en scene doesn’t just take into account the
consumers props set etc. It also takes into account the
lighting of the image and the colours. There are high key or
low key colouring and if it high key it means it has lot of
colour involved in the image or bright colours and a
different range of colours. As for low key it could have just
one colour. As for this photo it trying to stand out to a
world wide audience so the colours have to be high key in
order to attract an audience.
Paul McCartney
3. • The background colouring is very low key this is because it
what to being out the subject which makes the audiences
main focus on the band and the name of the band.
Because the subjects clothing is very bright and they have
different clothing is bring out and do a successful photo
which is good for marketing the band. So the mise en scene
in the way of costume is successful by the subject wearing
different costume but also I like the way they fitted in the
Black back ground because it blended in with hair colouring
of the subjects .
• The main point to pick up on photo shoot and how they are
being represented is the mise en scene which means what
you can see on the screen or in the photo. So an example
for this photo with the mise en screen is the dark colours in
the background and then the light colours of the artists
and musicians. I think this is to have all of the consumer
focus on the artist then them observing the background. I
also like how they combined the colour of one of the
musicians clothing to the word Maroon 5 because his
jumper is red and part of the letter M is red and it blends
with the musicians jumper. I think this the to show that he
is very much involved with the band.
4. • This photo shoot is very plane. But this may be the reason
it will be plane because it need to have the audience focus.
I think the main problem with this it won’t get much
attention from the poor scenery and dull viewpoint. So to
improve on it I think there need to be more action to make
the image more eye catching and have a range of colours
to add interest.
• The positive thing about this image is that the characters
stand out and the way they have done this is having a
bright background and then two of the musicians to wear
black and for the artist in the middle to wear white. I think
the intelligent thing they did with this photo shoot was the
had the two musician on each side of the lead singer and
the two of them where wearing black as for the lead singer
who was wearing white so you could see that he stood out
more between the three of them. Because if you got ride
of the two musicians out of the photo then the lead singers
costume would blend in with the background and we need
him to stand out to tell the audience that he his the lead
singer and is in charge of this band.

5. • It is hard to make out the costume and what they are
wearing. This is because of the low key colouring of the
photo. Low key means it black and white like this photo but
as for high key that means that it multi coloured. Also the
location is dull because it common and it could be
anywhere. As for the viewpoint it is focused on the
musicians. But I think this photo can be improved by having
a different location with a more interest viewpoint and
explore the camera angles. But I can see that the
photographer did use an angle and a shallow depth of field
in this photo.
• Even though the photo is black and white you can still add
colour to it. An example would be instead of wearing black
jacket wear white t shirt to add some more brightness to
the image. Also in this photo they did line of site from the
leafs from the tree which are pointing down on the band.
• This is a fixed image this means there isn’t much
movement in the image and I think the reason they had it
is black and white is do there’s a sense of seriousness. You
can tell by there facial expression and the way they are
looking at there audience. I think by them doing that they
what the audience to be interested in what might be going
on and why they are look at the audience in that particular
way.
Imagine Dragons
6. • This photo is the opposite to the photo that you just
saw before it ,because of the colour cohesion as for
the last photo of imagine dragons had low key in the
way of colours but as for this photo of Coldplay it had
a range of colours. This is also the same in the way of
brightness, because the brightness of imagine dragon
was very plane and dull but as for this photo it has a
darker background in the corner edges of the photo
but in the centre of the photo it very bright. This is to
see the musician faces and you can tell that this
wasn’t the original photo and someone adjusted the
photo. You can tell by the background set.
• In this photograph there is a use of props which is
interesting because in previous photo that I have been
researching there is no use of props. I don’t know the
reason why but I think it to have more of attention on
the musician then the props.
• On thing I picked up on in this photo was the two
musicians to the side of the frame have dark clothing
and the two musicians in the middle of the photo are
wearing brighter colour clothing I think this is to blend
in all of the musicians
7. • In this photo there is a good use of line of site this is
were you follow the line in the photo and a good
use of using it is all oft he object will have an angle
and they will be pointing to person or main focus in
the image. For example the microphone will be
pointing towards Eric Clapton because he is the
main focus in the photo. What I would be just to
make him more noticeable is zoom out a bit because
you may be able to see the spot light or some
indication that he the main focus in the image.
• As for the last image this image has the use of
props. I think this is to prove that this musician (Eric
Clapton) is a musician and this photo isn’t a
verisimilitude. Verisimilitude is something that
appears to be true or real but in reality is fake or
false. By having props there that is more evidence
that this musician Eric Clapton that he is a musician.
As for the other photo the only true information
that you can gather form that is that it people
standing in front of a camera and you don’t have any
evidence to prove that they are musician.
Eric Clapton
8. • The colour cohesion of this photo is very low key but
this is more relevant to the time it was taken and
this is why the lighting and colours are different to
the modern and improve technology of a camera.
You can tell that it was in a different time because of
the Mise en scene. The Mise en scene is the clothing
and fashion of the people. So in the case of this
photo the musicians have longer hair and the type of
clothing that they are wearing is in the 70’s
• They don’t have much in the way of prop or in the
way of a good location. I don’t know why because if
you have a use of good prop and location there will
be more interest and attention. So if I was the
photographer then to attract more attention I would
have more of a zoomed out photo and the way I
would do that with the traditional equipment is walk
further away from the musicians.
• The lighting would be hard to adjust with traditional
equipment and the brightness in the background
doesn’t go with the photo.
Pink Floyd
9. The who
• The background colours and the viewpoint is used
poorly because they could have a different
background and a more scenic viewpoint then a blue
background as for a blue background which seems
dull. I think the reason for having a blue background
is to have consumers pay more attention to the band
then the background. As for the colour of clothing
they could draw attention because they are bright
and I think it would attract some attention to them.
But I think why they had this background was for the
way the Mise en scene. What I mean this is the
darkness of there hair stand out on the bright
blueness of the background.
• There are no use of prop and there is a shallow
depth of field. Depth of field means the distance
between the nearest and the furthest object or
person in the image. The disadvantage of having a
narrow depth of field is there is a lot less to see in an
image which can make the photo quite dull.
