2. During our travels together, my mother and I had to learn to be patient with one another.

3. I learned to walk more slowly

4. and to search every grocer for nonfat, sugar-free yogurt

5. She learned to follow me to every art museum

6. and to wander through the galleries, carefully inspecting each painting.

7. I would tell her what my art history teacher said about that one, or how that artist was part of this movement.

8. She listened patiently, but once in a while, she needed a rest.

9. The greatest moment, though, was when I found her in the Tate Modern,

10. sitting on the floor of a darkened room where an old Bunuel film was being projected, fast asleep.
