5. What can we do to improve . . . Teaching & Learning? Increase patterns of classroom use Monitor frequency/design of instructional setting Improve content area connections Include Technology Application TEKS in lesson planning Develop a system to track student Mastery of Technology Applications Increase online learning opportunities

6. What can we do to improve . . . Educator Preparation and Development? Provide more professional development opportunities Encourage teachers to act as models of professional development Utilize a campus technology specialist to increase capabilities of educators Increase access to professional development, including online opportunities Build staff members’ levels of understanding and patterns of use

8. What can we do to improve . . . Infrastructure for Technology? Texas City ISD is in the process of upgrading and implementing many new technologies as a result of bonds passed by the Texas City community. Included in these upgrades are: Replace district-wide data switches, phone system using Voice-over IP technology, interior data cables on all campuses, and fiber connecting all campuses to provide increased bandwidth on a 10Gig backbone Implement a district-wide wireless network and video on demand into classrooms Improve data storage for all staff and students and multi-media access in classrooms district-wide Provide each campus with at least mobile laptop labs for classroom checkout

9. Summary As learners of the 21st Century, the students we teach today require new skills, tools, assessments, knowledge, and opportunities. The Texas STaR Chart is a system to help school educators, campuses, and districts to assess their progress towards technology goals.
