WRITING ABOUT MY CAREER.

AIM: To write a short text about my career.

MATERIAL: Model (Being a Language Teacher), Dictionary, textbook.

PREPARATION Read the text below and analyze its organization.
:

                                                   BEING A LANGUAGE TEACHER

Being a language teacher is a very demanding but at the same time a very rewarding career. If you are
open, if you love travelling, learning about cultures, and helping others you will definitely enjoy this job.
There are different fields where a language teacher can work. First, you can work for different
institutions such as schools, universities and language institutes; you can also be a private tutor.
Furthermore, a lot of institutions offer teachers the opportunity to travel abroad and participate in
exchange programs to study and acquire a wider cultural vision.

Now, being a language teacher demands lots of qualities and responsibilities. You have to be patient,
caring and objective. You have to prepare classes according to students´ needs and the institution
requirements. Besides that, you have to teach all English skills to promote effective communication. In
addition, a language teacher has to introduce students into the cultural aspects of the English speaking
countries. On the other hand, a university language teacher does not have to deal with parents
meetings and extracurricular activities such as talent shows, bingos and school fairs.

To sum up, I would say that being a language teacher offers you lots of chances to meet and help
people who are interested not only in a language but in cultural aspects.

AFTER WRITING

1. Read the text: As you finish, read your text, try to focus your attention on mistakes you
usually make, for example spelling, overwriting, punctuation, repetition of verbs, or
      connectors. Etc.

2. Revision: Use these questions for evaluating your article. Did I start all sentences with
capital letter? Did I finish them with period? Did I use commas properly? Did I correct
spelling mistakes? Did I use a few adjectives? Did I repeat the same verbs or connectors
over and over? About the content concentrate on these questions. Did I give a title to the
article? Did I provide relevant information? Was the information clearly related? Was the
information coherently developed? Did I repeat information? Was the conclusion
according to the purpose of the text?

3. Write the final draft: Based on the answer and the analysis of mistakes, you are ready for
      writing a final version.

4. Follow up: show your paper to a classmate, teacher or tutor. Listen to their comments
      and make the final corrections.
