The counting job is the activity that helps count items that have already been made. An inventory count is a snapshot of the current inventory levels.
As soon as you have taken inventory and specified the quantity on hand, the difference between the quantity counted and the snapshot of on-hand inventory is posted as a loss or gain for the item.
The journal of inventory counts shows the on-hand quantity counted compared to the inventory levels. Each count is given a journal number and date. This lets you view data from earlier counts, specifically which counting journal and voucher the count was posted to, and the date of the count.

The purpose of this demo is to show how to use the counting journal after the inventory has
been counted by the warehouse workers.
Create Counting Journal
Once the warehouse workers have counted the inventory levels, the next task is to create a
counting journal in order to register the configuration of the warehouse.
Create the counting Journal
To create a counting journal go to Inventory Management >>Journals >>Counting >> Counting
to open the counting form
Inventory counting Form
Next, click on the new icon to create a new journal. You must select warehouse, location, Pallet
in the dimension parameter dialog box and click “Ok”.
4. On the overview tab of Inventory counting journal, select “5” as the journal name.
Add a specific description if needed, and then click on the Lines button to open the Inventory

inventory with data older than 2 days.
It is possible to view data that had been collected for a specific day. To do this, go to
Warehouse Management >> Inquiries >> Counting Adjustment
Transfer line
When the transfer button is visible on the counted journal line, you will need to click on
it to activate the transfer transactions.
Counting Lines
In the Counting Journal line, review the line and see whether there is any discrepancy or not.
Then click on the Post button to Post the counting.
Click on the Post button to the inventory counting
Once posted the counting is finished
Adjusting Counting
To view data that had been collected for a specific day. To do this, go to Warehouse
Management >> Inquiries >> Counting Adjustment
Note: This form is a customization and its data source the table that we use to store
counted inventor data.
6. Select any data to delete the counting or adjust the quantity counted
Press on the Release button to release a location for counting.
Note that the Release button deletes any item counted at the chosen location.
Counting Warehouse compared to the on-hand quantity
This is an update to the counting process. We have made counting process better, and now
you can compare inventory counted and inventory on-hand in Dynamics AX. Any discrepancies
found will be adjusted upon the counting journal posting.
In this section, we will use scenario to help users grasp more insight about the counting
process.

12. Counting Form
When, there is counting job ordered, either from the executive management or from the
warehouse manager, the warehouse worker will go to the locations and count pallets
that are stored there.
To open the inventory counting form, go to:
- Main Menu
- Periodic
- And press the Counting
| Counting Open Pallet
Small pick locations are generally locations where open pallets are stored. Because the
pallet is opened, the warehouse worker needs to count the boxes on that pallet.
Procedure
Open the counting form
Scan the picking location barcode
Scan the carton label
Enter the number of cases stored on this pallet
And finally Press Send to validate
Below is the example of location B1005-01
13. The Pallet on-hand is P168611P-0-10 and the quantity is 11 cases
Pallet counted at small pick location
| Counting Full Pallet
When counting full pallet, the warehouse worker doesn’t need to count the individual
boxes on each pallet. The purpose of counting full pallet is to confirm the availability of
this pallet in the warehouse and at a particular location.
Any quantity discrepancy is fixed by authorized users.
Procedure
Open the counting form
Scan the picking location barcode
Scan the Pallet label
And finally Press Send to validate
Below is the example of location B15114-03
The Pallet on-hand is P194170P-0-2 and the item on-hand is SR-404816C
