Expose youth to career options they never knew existed Narrow down choices based on strengths and interests Focus on soft skill building that is currently lacking in Generation Y Giving youth an edge over same aged individuals who are exiting high school and entering the workforce Students spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Hard Skills (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information) – Also spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Soft Skills (Work Habits, The Job Search, Communication Skills, Workplace Effectiveness, Business Etiquette). Soft Skill building is followed by a mock interview, a job shadow, and a powerpoint presentation. Students also complete the WorkKeys exam. Businesses provide job shadowing sites / experiences, conduct interviews, provide work experiences, and participate in relevant community experiences, request profiling for WorkKeys. Support further credentialing and further business awareness of WorkKeys
