English Year 11 Essay
There are as many types of power as there are people" Is this true of the texts you have studied? In
your response you should relate to your prescribed text (1984) and ONE related text. Power can
be defined as many types ranging from physical, psychological, love, status or government. With
power comes great responsibility. If power is not controlled, negative consequences could be
developed. This is noticeable through the 2 texts that have been analysed, George Orwell 1984
and Disney Pixar Film WALL E. In both these texts, countless types of power can be extracted
whether it is being used for the good or bad. Power is Power, what you do with it is your decision.

Disney Pixar is portraying a strong message of technological power in which an individual should
not have a strong reliance on as it can backfire in the long run, this message is successfully
achieved in this film. The unusual use of technology as a tool of inflicting power also plays a
vital role in 1984. The recurring motif of telescreens suggests the disturbing presence of the
higher authorities invading privacy. "Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer,
though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing" tq...effect: evokes dramatic tension from
the result of being constantly watched & the risk of being caught which is constantly
repeated throughout the novel. Orwell evokes empathy as the reader relates to Winston as they
question the loss of privacy, dignity and freedom as well as the Government destroying the lives
of so many people yet they cannot do anything to fight back. The way in which George Orwell
describes the telescreen shows absolute power it gains over Oceania. "Who controls the past
controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." (TQ) This portrays an important
example of the Party's knowledge of using false history to break down the psychological
independence of Oceania. Control of the past ensures control of the future, because the past can be
treated essentially as a set of steps that justify or encourage future goals. The Party creates a past

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

English Major Essay
In recent years, the English major has faced an increasing amount of scrutiny. While the number of
English majors throughout the United States is rapidly declining, majors with roots in science,
technology, engineering, and math are praised as worthwhile and immediately beneficial. Beginning
shortly after the Great Recession of 2008–2009, humanities–based majors have been deemed
expendable and trivial. President Barack Obama's 2011 State of the Union Address only served to
propel this mindset as he "renewed his commitment for his 'Educate to Innovate' platform that
specifically targets [science, technology, engineering, and math degrees] as a means of helping to
rebuild America's economic edge" (Luangphinith 64). In effect, society now surmises English as
archaic and obsolete in the quick–paced world (65). Although the English major is plagued with a

Some assumed career paths include teaching or writing novels, but the English major's world is
much broader than just a few tired options. English majors can be found alongside science–based
majors, penning articles for scientific publications because "'many [scientists] never received the
education in the humanities... that would allow [them] to explain to nonscientists what [they] do
and why it is important'" (Jackson–Hayes). They are seen drafting contracts in support of the
Department of Defense or ensuring policy is followed in the spheres of information, communication,
industrial, and personnel security. They are chosen to head major companies due to their ability to
communicate with others. Some even find a niche in interacting with foreign customers because
they are already equipped with the sense of appreciation for different cultures and customs. English
majors are not simply restricted to a classroom. They, with a plethora of literature under their belts,
are taking on the world in an abundant range of

English Composition Reflective Essay
English composition has taught me everything I know now, from how to effectively write a thesis
to grammatically fix my essay. This class fixed my writing skills to speak and write incorrect
terms. English composition gave me the edge I need to take my writing skills to next level. This
class has helped me understand the importance of documentation in a research skill. English
composition showed me that sources either make or break your essay. The true honesty of this
course was that I am glad I took it. At first, I hate this class so much, because this class required so
much extra work to be done, but over time I realized that the extra work really pushes you over the
edge to make your essay great. The extra work justifies your essay and molds

English Is The Most Difficult Subject
Once you start going to school you are given many subjects to learn. Just to name a few: History,
Science, Math and a few other subjects as well as English. And as you're going through elementary
and high school into college you are learning about all of these subjects. Most people view the
difficult subject by the amount of homework given or even by the amount of time spent learning it.
English is in a category all its own. Without English none of the other subjects would even exist on
paper. Or within word of mouth either. And this is one of the reasons it can be a difficult subject.
There is a lot of weight riding on you being able to understand and comprehend the language you are
native to. So it would be safe in saying that English is not only a hard subject but that English is the
most difficult subject of study to humankind.
In the English language there are many different types of words and some words meaning other
words and other words telling you the story behind other words. English is just a way of life in
this world hence this essay I'm writing. Words can be spelled in many different ways and
pronounced in different ways too, depending on your accent mostly. And here is where some of the
problems occur. You see if you learn by the spelling alone and then you try to pronounce the word
without assistance. You may end up saying it wrong. For example the word 'tough' could be
pronounced as 'tuf.' But at the same time if you look at the word 'dough' it isn't

October 19, 2016 Reflection Paper
It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has
been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any case, I am happy that I am taking the class and
learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my
way through this class regardless of what difficulties I needed to persevere.
On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the
class. As I discovered what the class would have been similar to, I let myself know I was going to
attempt to get an B or higher toward the end of the semester and put all the exertion I had into each
paper I kept in touch with, I was not going to set this class aside for later and linger like I use to do.

things are done or on the chance that I don't understand how I should do what I am expected to do.
These aptitudes may empower me to enjoy additionally composing and not need to stress over
having a written assignment.
This course has helped me with many chances to figure out how to properly write papers. Prior to
this class, I had little experience with how to build a legitimate paper. It has taken experience, and

required different papers to be turned in, I am appreciative to have possessed the capacity to gain

English 101 Reflective Essay
English 101 has been such an adventure. I know that sounds corny, but I just couldn't help myself.
When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My
expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that
existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I
experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the
end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and
ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were
incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos,
pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found
that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial
response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome
job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. The multi model project

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

Essay On English Grammar
English grammar is an extensive and complicated set of rules that govern how we speak and write
using the English language. Grammar has evolved over many centuries, and the rules change from
time to time. Teaching grammar plays a central role in every ESL / EFL teacher's classroom. The
topics cover a range from letters and sounds, parts of speech, vocabulary and stories to dialogue and
conversation, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and written composition. English
language and its usage have become extremely emotive issues in recent years... 'An Introduction to
English Grammar' is an invaluable guide to the study of English language in an accessible format.
Generally the authors begin with an introduction chapter on the nature of grammar and on the
varieties of English and move on to provide an outline description of English grammar. It is to be
understood that "Recognizing the goal of the grammar course is to improve students' grasp of
English grammar, and not to make students into linguists. Many authors have written streamlined,

In my remarks I hope to dispel some of the misunderstandings that promote its continuing existence.
But, before viewing the role that grammar has played in the history of second language teaching,
let's first explore the nature of grammar. Linguists define grammar as a set of components: phonetics
,the production and perception of sounds, phonology ,how sounds are combined, morphology ,the
study of forms, or how elements are combined to create words, syntax ,how words are strung
together into sentences, and semantics or meaning. Because all languages are characterized by these
components, by definition, language does not exist without

Knowledge of the English language is important to learn to be able to communicate with others, in

One kind of problem that immigrants share is the need to learn the English language, even if
learning English is a very hard language to learn. When immigrants do not learn English, they are
fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never
integrate into the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are
raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school, they take low paying jobs
themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore
when you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to
communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your interest in and
commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because;
they believe that most of the people they do business with can speak English. The lack of
understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater
disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. It is very important for immigrants
to learn and understand English in order for them to be successful and live the American dream.

American English Essays
The question of whether or not English should be an official language has been a controversial topic
since our country was founded. The English language is a tie that helps combine the many pieces of
our society together. Our nation should not acclaim bilingualism, but should enfold English as the
national language spoken in the United States, to secure the future unity of our nation.
The United States is a nation composed of many immigrants from all around the world. We are a

It is starting to become the international language as well. Speaking one language helps the ability of
all backgrounds to communicate with one another. With so much diversity in the United States, we
need something that joins us together. To speak a language that is used by the world, will help all
Americans. English is the common bond of our community, and understanding it is the only way a
citizen will be able to fully participate in democracy, business, and education. It is the language of
international relations, as well as the language of our historical documents, of communication and of
safety. By making English the official language, it will help to bring together Americans, not propel
them farther apart.
Many Americans are composed of Hispanic origin. With such a great number of the population
speaking a second language, bilingualism will more than likely become an even more common
occurrence in many states, in the future. This thought strongly associates with the job market of the
United States. The second generation is becoming more bilingual, using one language for their home
and the other for business. Workers are going to have to be able to communicate with one another to
get the job done. Should native– born American employees learn to speak Spanish to communicate
with other fellow employees? My answer would have to be, no. A system that accommodates

Vocabulary Essay In English
Learning another language is never easy. It requires a lot of effort to become competent in that
language. Many things have to be considered to be able to learn well a target language. One
question that a learner has to ask himself is what he could focus in learning a language. Vocabulary
plays a vital role in learning any language. Vocabulary is "the knowledge of words and their
meanings (Nash & Snowling as cited by Hansen, 2009)." With vocabulary knowledge, a person can
enhance his/her understanding of the written and listening inputs that he/she encounters. Learning
words entails reading and listening, yet, this becomes unattainable without knowing the meaning of
the words. As Hazzlitt (1993) says, "if you do not know the word, you can hardly know the thing

English in My Life Essay
When my teacher said "good morning" to me on the very first day of school, I knew
that she would be teaching a tough subject. She didn't get any answer for that greeting because back
then, I knew nothing about "good morning". Surprisingly, as I went through the class
session on that day, I realized that "good morning" wasn't the first English phrase that
I'd known. English has been rooted in my society long before my country achieved its
independence and shockingly I've used some of its words in my daily speech without realizing it
because the words were fully modified by the society so that they could be installed smoothly into
our language. Learning English was always an interesting yet tough experience...show more content...
When someone speaks English in my society, he or she feels a sense of withdrawal because they
are set apart to a very small group in the society. People tend to belittle this group for speaking
other languages, and normally they will end up speaking their first language to comply with the
larger group in the society. With all these reasons, my interest towards English was completely
gone when I enrolled in secondary school, six years after my formal `encounter' with the English
language. For having this negative feeling, I became a member of a large group of students who
had never realized the significance of the English language. One day was unusually dull. I was
waiting for the teacher to come to the class and instead of revising my past English lessons that I
rarely cared about, I prayed that she wouldn't show up that day. After ten minutes' wait, she entered
the class saying "good morning". The greeting didn't bother me much, but when she
came to me asking for the assignment that she gave the day before, I was speechless and I just
gave her the blank handout that I was supposed to complete for that day. Her face showed no
emotion and with that she ripped the paper into pieces. That day marked a massive change in my
attitude toward English lessons and the English language in general. The incident was very
important to me because I then realized that even in a subtle way, language represents people and to

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was

technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that

  • 1. English Year 11 Essay There are as many types of power as there are people" Is this true of the texts you have studied? In your response you should relate to your prescribed text (1984) and ONE related text. Power can be defined as many types ranging from physical, psychological, love, status or government. With power comes great responsibility. If power is not controlled, negative consequences could be developed. This is noticeable through the 2 texts that have been analysed, George Orwell 1984 and Disney Pixar Film WALL E. In both these texts, countless types of power can be extracted whether it is being used for the good or bad. Power is Power, what you do with it is your decision. George Orwell novel is a social commentary of a dystopian future in...show more content... Disney Pixar is portraying a strong message of technological power in which an individual should not have a strong reliance on as it can backfire in the long run, this message is successfully achieved in this film. The unusual use of technology as a tool of inflicting power also plays a vital role in 1984. The recurring motif of telescreens suggests the disturbing presence of the higher authorities invading privacy. "Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer, though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing" tq...effect: evokes dramatic tension from the result of being constantly watched & the risk of being caught which is constantly repeated throughout the novel. Orwell evokes empathy as the reader relates to Winston as they question the loss of privacy, dignity and freedom as well as the Government destroying the lives of so many people yet they cannot do anything to fight back. The way in which George Orwell describes the telescreen shows absolute power it gains over Oceania. "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." (TQ) This portrays an important example of the Party's knowledge of using false history to break down the psychological independence of Oceania. Control of the past ensures control of the future, because the past can be treated essentially as a set of steps that justify or encourage future goals. The Party creates a past that was a time of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. English Major Essay In recent years, the English major has faced an increasing amount of scrutiny. While the number of English majors throughout the United States is rapidly declining, majors with roots in science, technology, engineering, and math are praised as worthwhile and immediately beneficial. Beginning shortly after the Great Recession of 2008–2009, humanities–based majors have been deemed expendable and trivial. President Barack Obama's 2011 State of the Union Address only served to propel this mindset as he "renewed his commitment for his 'Educate to Innovate' platform that specifically targets [science, technology, engineering, and math degrees] as a means of helping to rebuild America's economic edge" (Luangphinith 64). In effect, society now surmises English as archaic and obsolete in the quick–paced world (65). Although the English major is plagued with a plethora of...show more content... Some assumed career paths include teaching or writing novels, but the English major's world is much broader than just a few tired options. English majors can be found alongside science–based majors, penning articles for scientific publications because "'many [scientists] never received the education in the humanities... that would allow [them] to explain to nonscientists what [they] do and why it is important'" (Jackson–Hayes). They are seen drafting contracts in support of the Department of Defense or ensuring policy is followed in the spheres of information, communication, industrial, and personnel security. They are chosen to head major companies due to their ability to communicate with others. Some even find a niche in interacting with foreign customers because they are already equipped with the sense of appreciation for different cultures and customs. English majors are not simply restricted to a classroom. They, with a plethora of literature under their belts, are taking on the world in an abundant range of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Just to name a few: History, Science, Math and a few other subjects as well as English. Most people view the difficult subject by the amount of homework given or even by the amount of time spent learning it. English is in a category all its own. When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay On English Grammar English grammar is an extensive and complicated set of rules that govern how we speak and write using the English language. Grammar has evolved over many centuries, and the rules change from time to time. Teaching grammar plays a central role in every ESL / EFL teacher's classroom. When immigrants do not learn English, they are fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never integrate into the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school, they take low paying jobs themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore when you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your interest in and commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because; they believe that most of the people they do business with can speak English. The lack of understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. It is very important for immigrants to learn and understand English in order for them to be successful and live the American dream. (Poisl, 2011). Speaking one language helps the ability of all backgrounds to communicate with one another. With so much diversity in the United States, we need something that joins us together. To speak a language that is used by the world, will help all Americans. English is the common bond of our community, and understanding it is the only way a citizen will be able to fully participate in democracy, business, and education. It is the language of international relations, as well as the language of our historical documents, of communication and of safety. By making English the official language, it will help to bring together Americans, not propel them farther apart. Many Americans are composed of Hispanic origin. With such a great number of the population speaking a second language, bilingualism will more than likely become an even more common occurrence in many states, in the future. This thought strongly associates with the job market of the United States. The second generation is becoming more bilingual, using one language for their home and the other for business. Workers are going to have to be able to communicate with one another to get the job done. Should native– born American employees learn to speak Spanish to communicate with other fellow employees? • 18. Vocabulary Essay In English Learning another language is never easy. It requires a lot of effort to become competent in that language. Many things have to be considered to be able to learn well a target language. One question that a learner has to ask himself is what he could focus in learning a language. Vocabulary plays a vital role in learning any language. Vocabulary is "the knowledge of words and their meanings (Nash & Snowling as cited by Hansen, 2009)." With vocabulary knowledge, a person can enhance his/her understanding of the written and listening inputs that he/she encounters. Learning words entails reading and listening, yet, this becomes unattainable without knowing the meaning of the words. As Hazzlitt (1993) says, "if you do not know the word, you can hardly know the thing (p.51)." Also, vocabulary aids in conveying ideas, thoughts and emotions, may it be written or spoken. • 19. English in My Life Essay When my teacher said "good morning" to me on the very first day of school, I knew that she would be teaching a tough subject. She didn't get any answer for that greeting because back then, I knew nothing about "good morning". Surprisingly, as I went through the class session on that day, I realized that "good morning" wasn't the first English phrase that I'd known. English has been rooted in my society long before my country achieved its independence and shockingly I've used some of its words in my daily speech without realizing it because the words were fully modified by the society so that they could be installed smoothly into our language. Learning English was always an interesting yet tough experience...show more content... When someone speaks English in my society, he or she feels a sense of withdrawal because they are set apart to a very small group in the society. People tend to belittle this group for speaking other languages, and normally they will end up speaking their first language to comply with the larger group in the society. With all these reasons, my interest towards English was completely gone when I enrolled in secondary school, six years after my formal `encounter' with the English language. For having this negative feeling, I became a member of a large group of students who had never realized the significance of the English language. One day was unusually dull. I was waiting for the teacher to come to the class and instead of revising my past English lessons that I rarely cared about, I prayed that she wouldn't show up that day. After ten minutes' wait, she entered the class saying "good morning". The greeting didn't bother me much, but when she came to me asking for the assignment that she gave the day before, I was speechless and I just gave her the blank handout that I was supposed to complete for that day. Her face showed no emotion and with that she ripped the paper into pieces. That day marked a massive change in my attitude toward English lessons and the English language in general. The incident was very important to me because I then realized that even in a subtle way, language represents people and to respect the language means to respect Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be.
