My Time at Boarding School Essay
My Time at Boarding School
At the beginning of year six, when I was ten, my mum brought up the subject of secondary school
and I realised that, after that year, I would have to leave the school and people I had known for
many years. I knew I would have to leave my friends, because they were all going to the local
comprehensive school, and as my brother was at a private school, I would have to go to one too.
I had a choice. I could go to Dauntsey's school, the same as my brother, but I would have had to
wear the horrible brown uniform. Therefore, I went to Bruton School for Girls. A private Girl's
school in Somerset. I did not particularly like that uniform, but if I was to go, I would be a boarder

She asked me my name and pointed to a door opposite the door we were stood at and told me that
I was going to live in there for the next year. I thanked her and carried on dragging my suitcase.
When we got in, I was so nervous. A small staircase that led up into a little room that looked out
onto the downstairs impressed me. I chose a bed and wondered who would live in the two other
beds up there. Everybody had a small, uncomfortable bed, a chest of draws, with three draws; the
top drawer had a lock on, and a small narrow wardrobe. My mum unpacked all my stuff, while I
watched the other four girls unpack. AChinese girl was talking to a girl with bushy black hair, and
there was a very pretty girl arguing with her mum and dad about her poster that had a cat hanging
off a branch and a rude word written on it. The other girl seemed to know the girl with the rude
poster because she kept talking to her every now and again. It was surprisingly noisy, so I could not
hear their conversation.
After about an hour, my mum took me to see the housemistress. I walked down the corridor short
corridor. Standing in front of me was a dumpy woman with white hair and purple tinted glasses.
She was very nice to me and showed me into a nice small cosy room that had a sign on the door
saying "Old

My Experience At High School Essay
High School: A time in our lives that sets the mold for who we are going to be in this world. It
does this by teaching us great lessons about life, ourselves, and other people through various
experiences. One of these experiences I chose to take part in was football. It was this decision
that led me to this fateful day. A day in which my left leg was shattered and my perspectives on
life were drastically changed. The journey I had embark on to deal with all of the after effects of
this event taught me life lessons I'll never forget. It was October 24th, 2014. This date fell on a
Friday and during football season that meant it was game day for most high school teams. Not
just any game though, it was our district championship. I remember it all like it was yesterday.
The smell of the fresh cut grass was so satisfying and the grass itself was even more delightful to
see on the field. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Both cheer squads were screaming their chants.
Fans and parents alike were yelling and clapping. My shoulder pads were fastened tight around
my ribs and shoulders. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins. My mind was prepared for
the game but not what was about to befall me. This is where the story starts to spiral downwards. It
was about five minutes into the first quarter and we ran up the middle. I was the designated lead
blocker. I lunged at the linebacker full force and knocked him down. I had so much momentum
going towards him that I went straight to the

My Home Schooling Experience Essay
I'd like to take this opportunity to elaborate on my home education. I realize that there are many
different interpretations of the term "home school" and I feel obliged to explain my personal
methods and philosophy. As copies of my curricula will be included in the Secondary School
Report, I will not go into detail concerning the specific nature of my studies, but rather I will discuss
my home schooling experience.
I left traditional schooling at age nine, until which point I had attended the local public schools.
Although I did well in the school system, I was often bored and complained that I was unchallenged.
My parents had researched into home schooling and after a family discussion we decided to try it
following the winter...show more content...
There is no need to finish a certain amount of work per day or to cram a bunch of meaningless
facts in the night before an exam. I do not receive grades in any of the subjects I study at home,
because I do not move on until I thoroughly understand the material. There is time to learn, time to
make mistakes and to fix them, to figure out why and how something works.
There is nothing I love so much as a good experiment in the basement. My dad and I have built
crystal radios and kites and circuits, all of which later helped me in college physics. I worked out
of chemistry kits, testing our home for radon and building solar powered boats. Lab techniques
evolved into detailed studies on our front lawn with different soils, water levels, and seeds, trying
to figure out just why we could never get grass to grow. It's important to realize that my parents
didn't teach me all of this; they provided me with grass seed and books and duct tape.
Perhaps the most traditional studying I've done at home was out of Saxon math texts. I've taught
myself from Algebra 1/2 through to Calculus, and when I was younger I'd go to my dad for help.
Often he would just ask me to explain the problem to him, and as I was explaining it I'd suddenly
realize my trouble and thank him and go off to work some more. Sometimes he'd help me with a
concept or two, or catch a simple arithmetic error I had overlooked.

Middle School Experience Essay
During my elementary and middle school experience I don't ever really recall doing reading
groups, however, Accelerated Reading was enforced in my elementary schools and one of my
middle schools. In 5th grade I remember that there was a school–wide competition for most points
accumulated and most books read. I won first place for most points accumulated but took second
for most books read. Through my elementary school experience I had read the Harry Potter series,
The Series of Unfortunate Events, a thirteen book series, and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians
series. There was a state–wide writing contest during my 5th grade year in which I made it to the
state level. The topic of writing was about bridges. The story could a literal bridge

My Private School Experience
My essay profiles my encounters in a prestigious Toronto private school which characterize my
point of view. In general, people assume that in light of the fact that I had the pleasure of attending
a private school I was in a sheltered environment, devoid of struggles such as bullying and
surrounded by well–disciplined students. On the contrary, my private school experience was not
devoid of challenges and forced me to be vocal. I never expected that I would feel the chill of my
face hitting the cold and the unpleasant gymnasium floor one unforgettable day. I felt shaky and
needed to cry, but held it in. Occasions like this changed my life and made me the individual I am
today. My private school classroom consisted of seven to ten students on average which allowed
me to foster closer friendships. In the long run, we became excessively comfortable with each
other which caused division among us. For example, I was insulted by peers which left me feeling
dejected and alone. I felt the class dynamic failed to work at certain times since we had only a few
experiences in common which caused disagreements among us. When you attend an all–boy school
there are disagreements about what it is to be a man. A few students thought it is being an intense,
solid built fellow who settles the score with his clenched hands and enjoys temporary pleasures, not
somebody who is empathetic or reflects about their actions. An absence of empathy is apparent in an
all–boys school due to this

My Experience At Middle School
In middle school, 5th to 8th grade, I endure multiple adjective to describe my experience in
middle school. While in Middle School, I struggle with my appearance which has stayed as an
adult. For I always look at myself and all the flaws in my features, as my family members and/or
friends state my beauty features, I will brushed them off by stating the negative feature I visually
observe. Until recently, I've overcome my inability of reading in public and/or to my peers. As
my cousin passed away tragically, his mother (my Aunt) asked if I will read his poem to her and a
group of 50 strangers. She knew my fear of public speaking, she also knew my dream of
becoming a teacher and starting to a career as a substitute teacher. Therefore, she knew I needed
to overcome the fear of speaking. I am extremely pleased with myself to speak clearly and to have
the strength and encouragement of my family to overcome my greatest fear with a poem in
dedication to my beloved cousin. In 5th grade, my insecurity resulted in myself being bullied by
others for my appearance which I expressed still affects myself as an adult. When conduction
presentation as I displayed unconfident with my appearances, therefore in English, I failed
behind. I would hid in a corner and during reading groups, and when asked to read, I would stutter
and/or have an excuse for not being able to read. In 6th grade, being shy and not able to talk to
others as I being afraid of what they thought and would say as the

My Experience In America
From what I have heard about elementary school in America, I can definitely say it is not like the
experience I had in the Netherlands. My elementary school was an international school in the middle
of a large Dutch city about an hour away from my house. International, meaning there were kids
from all over the world there, sharing their culture and building lifelong friendships without even
realizing it. I certainly did not realize the culture or friendships I had picked up on until much later
on and have only now come to appreciate the time I spent at that school. We had the same
curriculum as British schools, so we did not learn American history. When I eventually went to an
American school again, U.S. history was a shocker for me. The school did not have a cafeteria, so
there was no option to buy lunch. Everyone brought food from their home countries and because
they were all from different places, I learned a lot about foreign food. We had recess three times a
day, which I hear is not the norm in America and on Wednesdays we got out of school at 11,
instead of 3 in the afternoon. Mandatory Dutch lessons were a thing and all second graders were
bussed over to the pool once a week so they could have swimming lessons. A surprising amount of
kids did not even speak English. By the end of my time at that school, all of these things were
normal for me. American school again, was crazy for me. In second grade, I met my best friend to
this day. She was "the new kid" who

My High School Experience Essay
When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience
everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high
school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say
they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't
say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much
about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life
meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all
these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content...
My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in
love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I
revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we
broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his
friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only
loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then
just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually
dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially
after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened
after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was
my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me
that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and
choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over
me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most
about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

The High School Experience Essay
The High School Experience
The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American
adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel–rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of
warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering
were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can
remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything
matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too
much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated
every aspect of high school could...show more content...
"The Breakfast Club" characterizes this phenomena by depicting the "jock, the brain, the basketcase,
the princess, and the juvenile delinquent". In the movie each character is representative of the social
class to which they belong. The "jock" signifies the sports star that can do no wrong, but the movie
character bullies another boy and when caught all he received was detention. Although on the other
hand the delinquent who is a dope smoking, foul mouthed punk, received the same punishment for
talking back to a teacher. Administrators and teachers are very quick to meet out severe punishment
to those students that they have deemed worthless, while good kids get a slap on the wrist. The
movie's jock is placed in Saturday detention, instead of being suspended, so that he may wrestle in an
upcoming tournament; a case in which Hollywood makes an accurate depiction. This is the "holding
of power" that Wehlage and Rutter spoke about in their study, High School and Beyond. Students
who receive better treatment seem to do better in school when subjected to "an orderly environment,
a committed and caring faculty, and an emphasis on academic pursuits"(Nieto,100).
The movie goes on to compare and contrast the "princess" and the "basketcase", both seventeen year
old girls who endeavor male attention, yet one is the cool crowd prom queen and the other is the
loser, burnout crowd weirdo. Brian, the narrating brain, is a

New School Experience
New school, new people, and new clothes. Everything is going to be different, I was not looking
forward to that year. The second I stepped foot in that door, I wanted to run as fast as I could back
home. But I couldn't I had to do this. I walked inside and everyone automatically looked at me. Of
course, everyone is in one room right now, I'm the new girl at a small school. What else should I
expect, i went and set my stuff down in my home room. When i walked back in all eyes were on
me, again. I didn't like it so I quickly sat down. After we left assembly we had math, i did not like
that teacher at all. Even on the first day, she was mean and rude, that really made me nervous
because i wanted her to like me but the people in my class said she doesn't like anyone. Great.
That day was absloute chaos, it felt so weird being there. After one day there I felt like I was
completely out of place, and I was. None of the teachers really stood out to me, as people that i
could look up to. A lot of the teachers were still trying to get certified and were still really young and
immature. I don't think that's right but that school didn't think that.
A few weeks passed and nothing worth talking about happened, but after the first nine weeks
everything started going downhill, One girl in my class didn't exactly like me so she told the
teachers that I was cheating on some stuff. When i wasn't, she took credit for some of the stuff i did
and i had enough of it. I told my Mom and

My Experience At My School
Everyone knows that one kid... who is always up to something, but never gets in trouble. Well
that was me, Aiden Young, until I realized that I needed to change my attitude. It all started on a
Monday, and everyone knows Monday is the worst day of the week. I woke up at 7:06 a.m. With
only nine minutes to get dressed, brush my teeth, and eat breakfast. I had missed the bus, and
today is the one day they both my mom and dad start work early. So they were not home to drive
me, so I had to ride my bike to school. When I got to school, I had one minute till the bell rang. Of
course that was not enough time to go to my locker that is on the first floor and make it to the
third floor. As I guessed I was three minutes late. I tried to slip into the class going unnoticed. I do
not know how but it worked, this may be because my last name is Young and I'm at the bottom of
the roaster. I have algebra first, and as usual I talked most of the time. This is the teacher's
mistake because she told us we could choose our seats, and I sat next to my best friend Michael in
the back of the room. Unlike me Michael does well in school, and he is kind of nerdy. I asked him
how his weekend was and he replied with, "I spent my whole weekend study for our Social
Studies test." He seemed so annoyed with me, and I totally forgot to about that test. That is another
subject I am going to fail. There was always one thing I wonder about and that was why I was ever

My Experience At First Middle School
Nice to Meet You All during Elementary School I couldn 't wait 'till Middle School no more
taddle tails. A different teacher every day, No more cranky teacher for the whole day. Yeah! The
best part about it is that there will be air conditioning. I know that sounds really weird but at my
old school there was no air conditioning so at the end of the school year the rooms would get
super hot and none of the teachers would want to turn on the fans because they were loud and the
students would get really distracted. I know that sounds crazy. I thought it would be the best
years of my life. Everyone and I mean everyone said that said that it would be really hard. At first
Middle School was really easy. I met some of the nicest people I will ever meet. I was in or at
least I though I was in. I thought I was one of there friends. I though they were one of mine. I hate
to say this I mean I really truly hate to say this but I was wrong. Super wrong. When I was told
that it would be hard. I though by hard when they meant math would be hard. I was also wrong
then to. I 'm starting to thing I 'm wrong a lot. I didn 't think they meant that friends and meeting
new friends would be hard. Dealing with friend drama is really hard. Middle School isn 't just hard it
's impossible. Well almost impossible. Middle school has its ups and downs, well mostly downs if I
'm honest. As I was saying Middle School is hard I mean their is drama lots and lots of it. I mean

Writing Through My High School Experience
Writing is one of life 's most important skills and I have learned a vast amount about writing
through my high school experience. I have learned that writing is not a strict, structured piece of
work, but a free place to express facts and opinions. Personally, I have mixed feelings about writing;
I enjoy the independence, but often have a hard time connecting all of my thoughts in a coherent
way. Just as most high school students, my writing style and ability has grown and morphed
throughout my years, and I still have much to learn.
Looking back on my freshman and sophomore years, I now realize how little I actually knew
about reading literature and writing. Before junior year, I had never learned how to actively read
a book, how to connect novels to each other, or even what passive voice is! Even being so naive, I
still have always been a fairly decent writer. I have always had good grasps on grammar,
mechanics, and comma usage. I also have never had an issue with organization of writing. The
structural aspect of writing has rarely been an issue for me. I try to exemplify my writing
mechanics in my writing by using complex sentences to show that I can lengthen my writing, but
still have it make sense. It has always been the creative part of writing that has been my challenge. I
have never been a creative person, so at times that aspect of writing has been quite difficult for me.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "With freedom comes responsibility." In my case, the

Experience : My School Experience
My School Experience I think school experience is individual and for many reasons. Mine had
good points, rough points and moments where I couldn't function to even attend. They don't have
the same services that they do now as when I was in school. Many people believe that school
prepares you for life and your future. I always felt like school was a place to put kids but didn't
really prepare them for the realities of life. I wouldn't say my school experience was bad, I just
always felt bored. The kids seemed to be very immature and that annoyed me the further along
into school I went. I was active in sports and got good enough grades to play but I didn't enjoy
school. I always felt like I wanted to get out and experience life. I have not only been a public
school student but a parent of a special needs child and an employee. My background gives me the
ability to see the faculty, parent and student views as well as find a middle ground when trying to
mediate concerns and problems. My child was special needs and placed in a self–contained room for
several years. My concern about that type of placement would be not making the child feel
marginalized or labeled and the negative consequences that can bring. However I do believe that
they have benefits if the child needs them. I most difficult experience I had was dealing with being
raped and telling no one while trying to still function. I think mostly because the prevailing theme of
the time was that you somehow deserved

School Experience : My First Day In My School
I transferred into an all girls catholic school junior year, and it was and it was the most awful
experiences to date. The only good part about attending the school was that it helped me recognize
that I had severe anxiety, other then that there is nothing that I took out of going to school there.
My first day, I will never forget, I was handed a schedule with rooms, a rule book, and told my
uniform was already not appropriate. I wasn't able to start class until someone dropped off socks
that were the appropriate length, I had to wait in the Deans office until my Aunt ran to the store, and
back to the school to drop them off. By the time I was approved to go to classes I had already
missed my first two classes. I was sent off to find my next class all alone, the school was huge,
with a lot of twists and turns, I remember walking through the crowds of girls passing me by
feeling as if the room was spinning, we only had 4 minutes in between classes to get to our lockers,
and to the next class.
Finally the bell rang and there was no one left in the halls, but me. I found my class only to be 20
minutes late. I walked in wanting to cry with my face bright red, there were about 25 girls just
staring at me. The class was my first ever french class, the teacher turned to me and said "class this
is so–and–so she decided to start in the middle of our semester, she will have to catch up quickly"
then she said to me "Please recite the Lord's prayer in french"... I just starred at her

My Teaching Experience Essay
When I first come to Saint Cloud High School, I was uncertain of how I would fit into the world
of education as a teacher, in fact, this was my first teaching practice. After completing a few
observations, I changed my view and recognized my teaching abilities. I was able to learn many
different things that will be helpful to me when I become a certified teacher someday. Although I
could face many possible challenges in the classroom, I have many of the strengths it takes to be
a good teacher. There were many times during this field training that gave me a broad idea of how
the ordinary life of a teacher would go. Similarly, I got a profound sense of how the classroom
environment is for most instructors. In general, I believe this was a pleasant experience for me, and
I learned a lot in such a brief period.
The educational unit I executed has an element of my instruction beliefs that students should connect
and relate theme content to real life situations inside and outside the teaching space. Therefore,
during my teaching experience, I feel compromise and responsible for meeting my students' needs
and that is why I included many visuals aids and plenty of flexible activities. Hence, this unit
involved a mixture of student and teacher–centered strategies such as direct instruction, drill and
practice of the unit vocabulary, lectures, dialogues, question and answer sessions, discussions with
exchanges of opinions and perspectives, discovery learning events and presentations

High School Experience Research Paper
It has been tough gaining School experience, however; my old primary school was very nice in
allowing me to shadow different teachers to see if teaching is the right career path for me. I
previously gained work experience in a school 8 years ago nevertheless, things have changed
intensely. Technology is swiftly changing and children often use laptops as well as interactive
whiteboards to increase their development in learning. I have been trying to gain as much experience
as possible however, due to work commitments, I have only been able to shadow teachers whilst I
have taken holiday from my current job. Helping teachers in my old Primary school was fantastic as I
was able to teach children the basics such as reading or spelling. I was set a task to determine how
well children were reading and to make notes in their reading diaries to allow parents to see how
well their child has developed. Whilst the children were reading I would help them voice certain
words that they found tough. I also was in a year three class and the teacher set them a Maths task

Grade School Experience
The grade school years were significant years in my life. I had oodles of fun, learned how to read
and write, made new friends along the way, and developed new skills I enjoyed. The first day of
grade school was an exciting day for me. I could not wait to go to the ВЁbig kid schoolВЁ and
make new friends. A few days earlier, I received news that my Kindergarten teacher was Mrs.
Spencer, the same teacher my brother, sister, and older neighbor had the opportunity to have. I
was extremely excited to show off how well I could write my name, but my teachers did not think
I could read. A few months passed, and my Mrs. Spencer suggested I visit the eye doctor as I
squinted when I tried to read the board. The doctor explained to my parents that the reason I
could not read was because I simply could not see the words. Once I received my first pair of
glasses, my reading jumped multiple levels and my organization improved. Throughout
Kindergarten, I developed a crush on a boy in my class, Jake Bachman. I called him the ВЁhottie
hotВЁ. Twelve years later, my family still talks about the extraordinary name we gave him! My
family also traveled to Disney on spring break. In addition, my babysitter began teaching me how to
play the piano, a skill she was exceptionally talented. First grade was a special year for my grade
school experience. It is the year I enjoyed a life–changing teacher, Mrs. LiaBraaten. She is the
teacher who first inspired me to become a teacher. I looked up to her in

My K 12 Schooling Experience Essay
Every day, students face challenges that shape their learning, growth, and their overall well–being.
These trials can either be minimal or turn into colossal obstacles. However, they can guide students
to become better individuals by incorporating their insights and self–realizations for their future
endeavors. Looking back to my K–12 schooling experience made me acknowledge the impact it had
in shaping the kind of person I am today. Although some experiences contributed more than others, I
believe they helped me understand myself. For instance, a moment I consider critical in my K–12
schooling that served as a turning point in life, was when I started high school in the United States. I
was born and raised in the Philippines, where my parents provided everything that my sisters and
I needed to live a comfortable life. This includes sending us to a prestigious school, paying for
tutors to enhance our academics, and even paying for our extracurricular activities. Furthermore,
they supported us in everything that we do, and unlike most parents in America, my parents
showered my sisters and I with all their time and love since both did not have to work for an
income. I can honestly say that I lived a nurtured and privileged lifestyle. Growing up, I had never
imagined myself visiting a different country, let alone migrating to one. I would always hear people
say how excited they were to go on a trip out of the country, especially the United States. In fact,

My Experience In Secondary School
Secondary school has been an unrelenting path. These four years of secondary school have had their
excitements and their downfalls. My life had transformed into one that no individual could ever
envision persevering through, an experience so unpleasant that it changed my philosophy and point
of view.
On September second, 2014, my grandfather passed away from a heart attack. He was a
cherishing grandparent as well as a great motivator. He used to tell me "I see so much potential in
you," and that is something I held on to all my life. Not only did my grandfather leave my family
and me with an immense ethos, yet additionally left us with an extraordinary measure of
dissatisfaction. In the meantime, with all this happening I had issues of my own in school. My
marks were at their most minimal, and I was attempting my best to bring them back up. I was never
too bright in subjects, for instance, Math or science. Regardless, that was an issue that I expected to
oversee by stressing less and augment more in my studies. I decided to implement many techniques
to help me focus in my studies; I tried to put my phone face down so I can become less distracted
although, every time I hear a buzz and see a glimpse of the screen light up I feel tempted to unlock
my phone and see the notification. I kept on attempting different strategies to enable me to succeed
in focusing on my studies, yet nothing made a difference. I reached a point where I sold my
electronic devices such as my phone

My Boarding School Memoirs

  • 1. My Time at Boarding School Essay My Time at Boarding School At the beginning of year six, when I was ten, my mum brought up the subject of secondary school and I realised that, after that year, I would have to leave the school and people I had known for many years. I knew I would have to leave my friends, because they were all going to the local comprehensive school, and as my brother was at a private school, I would have to go to one too. I had a choice. I could go to Dauntsey's school, the same as my brother, but I would have had to wear the horrible brown uniform. Therefore, I went to Bruton School for Girls. A private Girl's school in Somerset. I did not particularly like that uniform, but if I was to go, I would be a boarder ...show more content... She asked me my name and pointed to a door opposite the door we were stood at and told me that I was going to live in there for the next year. I thanked her and carried on dragging my suitcase. When we got in, I was so nervous. A small staircase that led up into a little room that looked out onto the downstairs impressed me. I chose a bed and wondered who would live in the two other beds up there. Everybody had a small, uncomfortable bed, a chest of draws, with three draws; the top drawer had a lock on, and a small narrow wardrobe. My mum unpacked all my stuff, while I watched the other four girls unpack. AChinese girl was talking to a girl with bushy black hair, and there was a very pretty girl arguing with her mum and dad about her poster that had a cat hanging off a branch and a rude word written on it. The other girl seemed to know the girl with the rude poster because she kept talking to her every now and again. It was surprisingly noisy, so I could not hear their conversation. After about an hour, my mum took me to see the housemistress. I walked down the corridor short corridor. Standing in front of me was a dumpy woman with white hair and purple tinted glasses. She was very nice to me and showed me into a nice small cosy room that had a sign on the door saying "Old Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Experience At High School Essay High School: A time in our lives that sets the mold for who we are going to be in this world. It does this by teaching us great lessons about life, ourselves, and other people through various experiences. One of these experiences I chose to take part in was football. It was this decision that led me to this fateful day. A day in which my left leg was shattered and my perspectives on life were drastically changed. The journey I had embark on to deal with all of the after effects of this event taught me life lessons I'll never forget. It was October 24th, 2014. This date fell on a Friday and during football season that meant it was game day for most high school teams. Not just any game though, it was our district championship. I remember it all like it was yesterday. The smell of the fresh cut grass was so satisfying and the grass itself was even more delightful to see on the field. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Both cheer squads were screaming their chants. Fans and parents alike were yelling and clapping. My shoulder pads were fastened tight around my ribs and shoulders. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins. My mind was prepared for the game but not what was about to befall me. This is where the story starts to spiral downwards. It was about five minutes into the first quarter and we ran up the middle. I was the designated lead blocker. I lunged at the linebacker full force and knocked him down. I had so much momentum going towards him that I went straight to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Home Schooling Experience Essay I'd like to take this opportunity to elaborate on my home education. I realize that there are many different interpretations of the term "home school" and I feel obliged to explain my personal methods and philosophy. As copies of my curricula will be included in the Secondary School Report, I will not go into detail concerning the specific nature of my studies, but rather I will discuss my home schooling experience. I left traditional schooling at age nine, until which point I had attended the local public schools. Although I did well in the school system, I was often bored and complained that I was unchallenged. My parents had researched into home schooling and after a family discussion we decided to try it following the winter...show more content... There is no need to finish a certain amount of work per day or to cram a bunch of meaningless facts in the night before an exam. I do not receive grades in any of the subjects I study at home, because I do not move on until I thoroughly understand the material. There is time to learn, time to make mistakes and to fix them, to figure out why and how something works. There is nothing I love so much as a good experiment in the basement. My dad and I have built crystal radios and kites and circuits, all of which later helped me in college physics. I worked out of chemistry kits, testing our home for radon and building solar powered boats. Lab techniques evolved into detailed studies on our front lawn with different soils, water levels, and seeds, trying to figure out just why we could never get grass to grow. It's important to realize that my parents didn't teach me all of this; they provided me with grass seed and books and duct tape. Perhaps the most traditional studying I've done at home was out of Saxon math texts. I've taught myself from Algebra 1/2 through to Calculus, and when I was younger I'd go to my dad for help. Often he would just ask me to explain the problem to him, and as I was explaining it I'd suddenly realize my trouble and thank him and go off to work some more. Sometimes he'd help me with a concept or two, or catch a simple arithmetic error I had overlooked. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Middle School Experience Essay During my elementary and middle school experience I don't ever really recall doing reading groups, however, Accelerated Reading was enforced in my elementary schools and one of my middle schools. In 5th grade I remember that there was a school–wide competition for most points accumulated and most books read. I won first place for most points accumulated but took second for most books read. Through my elementary school experience I had read the Harry Potter series, The Series of Unfortunate Events, a thirteen book series, and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. There was a state–wide writing contest during my 5th grade year in which I made it to the state level. The topic of writing was about bridges. The story could a literal bridge Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Private School Experience My essay profiles my encounters in a prestigious Toronto private school which characterize my point of view. In general, people assume that in light of the fact that I had the pleasure of attending a private school I was in a sheltered environment, devoid of struggles such as bullying and surrounded by well–disciplined students. On the contrary, my private school experience was not devoid of challenges and forced me to be vocal. I never expected that I would feel the chill of my face hitting the cold and the unpleasant gymnasium floor one unforgettable day. I felt shaky and needed to cry, but held it in. Occasions like this changed my life and made me the individual I am today. My private school classroom consisted of seven to ten students on average which allowed me to foster closer friendships. In the long run, we became excessively comfortable with each other which caused division among us. For example, I was insulted by peers which left me feeling dejected and alone. I felt the class dynamic failed to work at certain times since we had only a few experiences in common which caused disagreements among us. When you attend an all–boy school there are disagreements about what it is to be a man. A few students thought it is being an intense, solid built fellow who settles the score with his clenched hands and enjoys temporary pleasures, not somebody who is empathetic or reflects about their actions. An absence of empathy is apparent in an all–boys school due to this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Experience At Middle School In middle school, 5th to 8th grade, I endure multiple adjective to describe my experience in middle school. While in Middle School, I struggle with my appearance which has stayed as an adult. For I always look at myself and all the flaws in my features, as my family members and/or friends state my beauty features, I will brushed them off by stating the negative feature I visually observe. Until recently, I've overcome my inability of reading in public and/or to my peers. As my cousin passed away tragically, his mother (my Aunt) asked if I will read his poem to her and a group of 50 strangers. She knew my fear of public speaking, she also knew my dream of becoming a teacher and starting to a career as a substitute teacher. Therefore, she knew I needed to overcome the fear of speaking. I am extremely pleased with myself to speak clearly and to have the strength and encouragement of my family to overcome my greatest fear with a poem in dedication to my beloved cousin. In 5th grade, my insecurity resulted in myself being bullied by others for my appearance which I expressed still affects myself as an adult. When conduction presentation as I displayed unconfident with my appearances, therefore in English, I failed behind. I would hid in a corner and during reading groups, and when asked to read, I would stutter and/or have an excuse for not being able to read. In 6th grade, being shy and not able to talk to others as I being afraid of what they thought and would say as the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Experience In America From what I have heard about elementary school in America, I can definitely say it is not like the experience I had in the Netherlands. My elementary school was an international school in the middle of a large Dutch city about an hour away from my house. International, meaning there were kids from all over the world there, sharing their culture and building lifelong friendships without even realizing it. I certainly did not realize the culture or friendships I had picked up on until much later on and have only now come to appreciate the time I spent at that school. We had the same curriculum as British schools, so we did not learn American history. When I eventually went to an American school again, U.S. history was a shocker for me. The school did not have a cafeteria, so there was no option to buy lunch. Everyone brought food from their home countries and because they were all from different places, I learned a lot about foreign food. We had recess three times a day, which I hear is not the norm in America and on Wednesdays we got out of school at 11, instead of 3 in the afternoon. Mandatory Dutch lessons were a thing and all second graders were bussed over to the pool once a week so they could have swimming lessons. A surprising amount of kids did not even speak English. By the end of my time at that school, all of these things were normal for me. American school again, was crazy for me. In second grade, I met my best friend to this day. She was "the new kid" who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My High School Experience Essay When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content... My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. The High School Experience Essay The High School Experience The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel–rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated every aspect of high school could...show more content... "The Breakfast Club" characterizes this phenomena by depicting the "jock, the brain, the basketcase, the princess, and the juvenile delinquent". In the movie each character is representative of the social class to which they belong. The "jock" signifies the sports star that can do no wrong, but the movie character bullies another boy and when caught all he received was detention. Although on the other hand the delinquent who is a dope smoking, foul mouthed punk, received the same punishment for talking back to a teacher. Administrators and teachers are very quick to meet out severe punishment to those students that they have deemed worthless, while good kids get a slap on the wrist. The movie's jock is placed in Saturday detention, instead of being suspended, so that he may wrestle in an upcoming tournament; a case in which Hollywood makes an accurate depiction. This is the "holding of power" that Wehlage and Rutter spoke about in their study, High School and Beyond. Students who receive better treatment seem to do better in school when subjected to "an orderly environment, a committed and caring faculty, and an emphasis on academic pursuits"(Nieto,100). The movie goes on to compare and contrast the "princess" and the "basketcase", both seventeen year old girls who endeavor male attention, yet one is the cool crowd prom queen and the other is the loser, burnout crowd weirdo. Brian, the narrating brain, is a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. New School Experience New school, new people, and new clothes. Everything is going to be different, I was not looking forward to that year. The second I stepped foot in that door, I wanted to run as fast as I could back home. But I couldn't I had to do this. I walked inside and everyone automatically looked at me. Of course, everyone is in one room right now, I'm the new girl at a small school. What else should I expect, i went and set my stuff down in my home room. When i walked back in all eyes were on me, again. I didn't like it so I quickly sat down. After we left assembly we had math, i did not like that teacher at all. Even on the first day, she was mean and rude, that really made me nervous because i wanted her to like me but the people in my class said she doesn't like anyone. Great. That day was absloute chaos, it felt so weird being there. After one day there I felt like I was completely out of place, and I was. None of the teachers really stood out to me, as people that i could look up to. A lot of the teachers were still trying to get certified and were still really young and immature. I don't think that's right but that school didn't think that. A few weeks passed and nothing worth talking about happened, but after the first nine weeks everything started going downhill, One girl in my class didn't exactly like me so she told the teachers that I was cheating on some stuff. When i wasn't, she took credit for some of the stuff i did and i had enough of it. I told my Mom and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Experience At My School Everyone knows that one kid... who is always up to something, but never gets in trouble. Well that was me, Aiden Young, until I realized that I needed to change my attitude. It all started on a Monday, and everyone knows Monday is the worst day of the week. I woke up at 7:06 a.m. With only nine minutes to get dressed, brush my teeth, and eat breakfast. I had missed the bus, and today is the one day they both my mom and dad start work early. So they were not home to drive me, so I had to ride my bike to school. When I got to school, I had one minute till the bell rang. Of course that was not enough time to go to my locker that is on the first floor and make it to the third floor. As I guessed I was three minutes late. I tried to slip into the class going unnoticed. I do not know how but it worked, this may be because my last name is Young and I'm at the bottom of the roaster. I have algebra first, and as usual I talked most of the time. This is the teacher's mistake because she told us we could choose our seats, and I sat next to my best friend Michael in the back of the room. Unlike me Michael does well in school, and he is kind of nerdy. I asked him how his weekend was and he replied with, "I spent my whole weekend study for our Social Studies test." He seemed so annoyed with me, and I totally forgot to about that test. That is another subject I am going to fail. There was always one thing I wonder about and that was why I was ever even friends Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Experience At First Middle School Nice to Meet You All during Elementary School I couldn 't wait 'till Middle School no more taddle tails. A different teacher every day, No more cranky teacher for the whole day. Yeah! The best part about it is that there will be air conditioning. I know that sounds really weird but at my old school there was no air conditioning so at the end of the school year the rooms would get super hot and none of the teachers would want to turn on the fans because they were loud and the students would get really distracted. I know that sounds crazy. I thought it would be the best years of my life. Everyone and I mean everyone said that said that it would be really hard. At first Middle School was really easy. I met some of the nicest people I will ever meet. I was in or at least I though I was in. I thought I was one of there friends. I though they were one of mine. I hate to say this I mean I really truly hate to say this but I was wrong. Super wrong. When I was told that it would be hard. I though by hard when they meant math would be hard. I was also wrong then to. I 'm starting to thing I 'm wrong a lot. I didn 't think they meant that friends and meeting new friends would be hard. Dealing with friend drama is really hard. Middle School isn 't just hard it 's impossible. Well almost impossible. Middle school has its ups and downs, well mostly downs if I 'm honest. As I was saying Middle School is hard I mean their is drama lots and lots of it. I mean their is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Writing Through My High School Experience Writing is one of life 's most important skills and I have learned a vast amount about writing through my high school experience. I have learned that writing is not a strict, structured piece of work, but a free place to express facts and opinions. Personally, I have mixed feelings about writing; I enjoy the independence, but often have a hard time connecting all of my thoughts in a coherent way. Just as most high school students, my writing style and ability has grown and morphed throughout my years, and I still have much to learn. Looking back on my freshman and sophomore years, I now realize how little I actually knew about reading literature and writing. Before junior year, I had never learned how to actively read a book, how to connect novels to each other, or even what passive voice is! Even being so naive, I still have always been a fairly decent writer. I have always had good grasps on grammar, mechanics, and comma usage. I also have never had an issue with organization of writing. The structural aspect of writing has rarely been an issue for me. I try to exemplify my writing mechanics in my writing by using complex sentences to show that I can lengthen my writing, but still have it make sense. It has always been the creative part of writing that has been my challenge. I have never been a creative person, so at times that aspect of writing has been quite difficult for me. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "With freedom comes responsibility." In my case, the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Experience : My School Experience My School Experience I think school experience is individual and for many reasons. Mine had good points, rough points and moments where I couldn't function to even attend. They don't have the same services that they do now as when I was in school. Many people believe that school prepares you for life and your future. I always felt like school was a place to put kids but didn't really prepare them for the realities of life. I wouldn't say my school experience was bad, I just always felt bored. The kids seemed to be very immature and that annoyed me the further along into school I went. I was active in sports and got good enough grades to play but I didn't enjoy school. I always felt like I wanted to get out and experience life. I have not only been a public school student but a parent of a special needs child and an employee. My background gives me the ability to see the faculty, parent and student views as well as find a middle ground when trying to mediate concerns and problems. My child was special needs and placed in a self–contained room for several years. My concern about that type of placement would be not making the child feel marginalized or labeled and the negative consequences that can bring. However I do believe that they have benefits if the child needs them. I most difficult experience I had was dealing with being raped and telling no one while trying to still function. • 15. School Experience : My First Day In My School I transferred into an all girls catholic school junior year, and it was and it was the most awful experiences to date. The only good part about attending the school was that it helped me recognize that I had severe anxiety, other then that there is nothing that I took out of going to school there. My first day, I will never forget, I was handed a schedule with rooms, a rule book, and told my uniform was already not appropriate. I wasn't able to start class until someone dropped off socks that were the appropriate length, I had to wait in the Deans office until my Aunt ran to the store, and back to the school to drop them off. By the time I was approved to go to classes I had already missed my first two classes. I was sent off to find my next class all alone, the school was huge, with a lot of twists and turns, I remember walking through the crowds of girls passing me by feeling as if the room was spinning, we only had 4 minutes in between classes to get to our lockers, and to the next class. Finally the bell rang and there was no one left in the halls, but me. I found my class only to be 20 minutes late. I walked in wanting to cry with my face bright red, there were about 25 girls just staring at me. The class was my first ever french class, the teacher turned to me and said "class this is so–and–so she decided to start in the middle of our semester, she will have to catch up quickly" then she said to me "Please recite the Lord's prayer in french"... I just starred at her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Teaching Experience Essay When I first come to Saint Cloud High School, I was uncertain of how I would fit into the world of education as a teacher, in fact, this was my first teaching practice. After completing a few observations, I changed my view and recognized my teaching abilities. I was able to learn many different things that will be helpful to me when I become a certified teacher someday. Although I could face many possible challenges in the classroom, I have many of the strengths it takes to be a good teacher. There were many times during this field training that gave me a broad idea of how the ordinary life of a teacher would go. Similarly, I got a profound sense of how the classroom environment is for most instructors. In general, I believe this was a pleasant experience for me, and I learned a lot in such a brief period. The educational unit I executed has an element of my instruction beliefs that students should connect and relate theme content to real life situations inside and outside the teaching space. Therefore, during my teaching experience, I feel compromise and responsible for meeting my students' needs and that is why I included many visuals aids and plenty of flexible activities. Hence, this unit involved a mixture of student and teacher–centered strategies such as direct instruction, drill and practice of the unit vocabulary, lectures, dialogues, question and answer sessions, discussions with exchanges of opinions and perspectives, discovery learning events and presentations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. High School Experience Research Paper It has been tough gaining School experience, however; my old primary school was very nice in allowing me to shadow different teachers to see if teaching is the right career path for me. I previously gained work experience in a school 8 years ago nevertheless, things have changed intensely. Technology is swiftly changing and children often use laptops as well as interactive whiteboards to increase their development in learning. I have been trying to gain as much experience as possible however, due to work commitments, I have only been able to shadow teachers whilst I have taken holiday from my current job. Helping teachers in my old Primary school was fantastic as I was able to teach children the basics such as reading or spelling. I was set a task to determine how well children were reading and to make notes in their reading diaries to allow parents to see how well their child has developed. Whilst the children were reading I would help them voice certain words that they found tough. I also was in a year three class and the teacher set them a Maths task I was there to help and make notes in the book to help children develop. The teacher in that classroom explained to me that she has deliberately sat all mixed abilities across the classroom as children should be...show more content... • 18. Grade School Experience The grade school years were significant years in my life. I had oodles of fun, learned how to read and write, made new friends along the way, and developed new skills I enjoyed. The first day of grade school was an exciting day for me. I could not wait to go to the ВЁbig kid schoolВЁ and make new friends. A few days earlier, I received news that my Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Spencer, the same teacher my brother, sister, and older neighbor had the opportunity to have. I was extremely excited to show off how well I could write my name, but my teachers did not think I could read. A few months passed, and my Mrs. Spencer suggested I visit the eye doctor as I squinted when I tried to read the board. The doctor explained to my parents that the reason I could not read was because I simply could not see the words. Once I received my first pair of glasses, my reading jumped multiple levels and my organization improved. Throughout Kindergarten, I developed a crush on a boy in my class, Jake Bachman. I called him the ВЁhottie hotВЁ. Twelve years later, my family still talks about the extraordinary name we gave him! My family also traveled to Disney on spring break. In addition, my babysitter began teaching me how to play the piano, a skill she was exceptionally talented. First grade was a special year for my grade school experience. It is the year I enjoyed a life–changing teacher, Mrs. LiaBraaten. She is the teacher who first inspired me to become a teacher. I looked up to her in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My K 12 Schooling Experience Essay Every day, students face challenges that shape their learning, growth, and their overall well–being. These trials can either be minimal or turn into colossal obstacles. However, they can guide students to become better individuals by incorporating their insights and self–realizations for their future endeavors. Looking back to my K–12 schooling experience made me acknowledge the impact it had in shaping the kind of person I am today. Although some experiences contributed more than others, I believe they helped me understand myself. For instance, a moment I consider critical in my K–12 schooling that served as a turning point in life, was when I started high school in the United States. I was born and raised in the Philippines, where my parents provided everything that my sisters and I needed to live a comfortable life. This includes sending us to a prestigious school, paying for tutors to enhance our academics, and even paying for our extracurricular activities. Furthermore, they supported us in everything that we do, and unlike most parents in America, my parents showered my sisters and I with all their time and love since both did not have to work for an income. I can honestly say that I lived a nurtured and privileged lifestyle. Growing up, I had never imagined myself visiting a different country, let alone migrating to one. I would always hear people say how excited they were to go on a trip out of the country, especially the United States. In fact, Many Filipinos Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Experience In Secondary School Secondary school has been an unrelenting path. These four years of secondary school have had their excitements and their downfalls. My life had transformed into one that no individual could ever envision persevering through, an experience so unpleasant that it changed my philosophy and point of view. On September second, 2014, my grandfather passed away from a heart attack. He was a cherishing grandparent as well as a great motivator. He used to tell me "I see so much potential in you," and that is something I held on to all my life. Not only did my grandfather leave my family and me with an immense ethos, yet additionally left us with an extraordinary measure of dissatisfaction. In the meantime, with all this happening I had issues of my own in school. My marks were at their most minimal, and I was attempting my best to bring them back up. I was never too bright in subjects, for instance, Math or science. Regardless, that was an issue that I expected to oversee by stressing less and augment more in my studies. I decided to implement many techniques to help me focus in my studies; I tried to put my phone face down so I can become less distracted although, every time I hear a buzz and see a glimpse of the screen light up I feel tempted to unlock my phone and see the notification. I kept on attempting different strategies to enable me to succeed in focusing on my studies, yet nothing made a difference. I reached a point where I sold my electronic devices such as my phone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
