2. Tutorial Overview
The main advantage of using SAP HANA is to have real-
time analysis available through faster processing speeds
SAP HANA is an in-memory database platform
There is a source of data that can come from either a
SAP or non-SAP source
SAP HANA Studio is used for modeling and configuring
the SAP HANA database
SAP HANA uses components such as SAP BI or SAP BW

3. What is the architecture?
The SAP HANA in-memory database can work as a
database for an ERP client and can be used with local
Business Intelligence (BI), or it can be used with Business
Warehouse (BW)
In general, SAP HANA is the in-memory database that allows
for faster processing from applications

4. What are the benefits?
Analyze up to 3600 times faster!
Amazing new applications!
Simplify the hardware layout!
Reduce costs of IT systems!

5. What is Hana?
HANA is a client, or implementation, that includes single in-memory computing
platform, analytics, and applications
Typically, SAP HANA is a database that has a source of data, either an SAP or
non-SAP, and is configured using SAP HANA Studio and allows for analysis
using Business Intelligence (BI) tools
The four components of SAP HANA are SAP HANA Databases, SAP HANA
Studio, SAP HAPNA Appliance, and SAP HANA Application Cloud.
SAP HANA database is the database that stores data.
SAP HANA Studio is the suite of tools for modeling.
SAP HANA appliance is the database delivered on hardware that includes the
studio, replication data, and transformation tools to move data to the database.
SAP HANA application cloud is applications that are rewritten to run on SAP HANA.

7. Prerequisites for use of HANA
“SAP HANA® is fully adaptable to the dramatic advances of hardware
storage technology, on premise and in the cloud. Multicore CPUs and 64-bit
systems offer a new reality in scalability, where, for example, a blade server
with 4 blades, each with 4 CPUs, and each CPU with 8 cores, provides a
total of 128 cores for software processing. New technology available
provides a multisocket, 8-CPU system with 10 cores in 1 server, translating
into 1 terabyte of memory”.

8. Data sources for SAP HANA
You can use SAP HANA with non-SAP products
In most cases the SAP HANA database will be from a
replication of other SAP ERP Clients
