As the impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt, non state actors (NSA) including business leaders, investors, and local government leaders globally have (in alignment with the UNSG) been vocal in their support for a Green, Resilient Recovery (GRR) and the opportunity to “build back better” by accelerating the transition to a resilient, zero emissions future. Many global academic and technical experts have published widely on core principles to underpin a successful recovery, and have outlined emerging evidence on the compelling economic case for GRR, alongside critical co-benefits in public health, decent jobs and enhanced resilience to climate change. This document seeks to bring together in a single place an analysis published by key members of the NSA community on GRR, with four key objectives: – Summarize and consolidate key insights, providing a centralised reference point for the broad base of published work to date – Lay out the definitive economic and social case for GRR, and its implications to climate crisis, as it exists so far – Highlight sector-specific asks for GRR in the areas of transport, power, buildings, heavy industry and nature – Provide a view on the policy action and NSA proof points (evolving daily) that demonstrate ongoing commitment from NSA actors to GRR This paper draws directly upon the exceptional body of work and perspectives to date published by leading organizations, initiatives and partners of the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action, including: • IMF • ETC, MPP, WEF • Smiths School of Economics • WMB • PRI • VividEconomics • ICP Hub The situation is evolving at pace, and members of the NSA community are continuing to advance the GRR work and action agenda. In addition to supporting positive action on GRR by policymakers and NSA as part of our broader objectives, these members will: – Continue to represent and provide a platform for the best thinking of the NSA community in advocating positive response to GRR from policymakers – Investigate and publish a more detailed business case to reflect the benefits of GRR as an opportunity to accelerate climate action and the transition to a resilient, zero emissions future, to be published in September 2020.

The Green New Deal is designed to convert the grey economy into an “environmentally sound, economically viable and socially responsible” sustainable economy. This article is conducted under the title The Impact of Green Finance on the Replacement of Fossil Fuels with Green Fuels , which the author pursued with the following objectives Understanding the impacts of Green Finance on the Replacement of Fossil Fuels with Green Fuels, Understanding the actors, and challenges, of Green Finance, and Understanding the role of debt for environment swap projects as a green finance product in the replacement of fossil fuels with green fuels. In this research, a qualitative method has been used, and the article has used secondary data, including books, articles, newspapers, magazines, websites and government records. In this study, the author found that Green Finance plays an important role in replacing green fuels with fossil fuels. Green Finance achieves this goal through its instrument and products. In this study, all the actors involved in performing Green Finance activities have been introduced. These actors include Banks, Institutional Investors, International Financial Institutions and Regulatory Authorities and the Central Bank. The challenges proposed for Green Finance have been clarified. The article also clarified how Debt for Environmental Swaps, as a Green Finance product, can help replacement of fuels. As the world faces complex future challenges, multi-party communities are themselves expanding and fragmenting. New approaches to broader decision-making gain traction. It is increasingly apparent that the big complex decisions for tomorrow are global, or at least multi-regional in nature. Climate change and pandemics are issues that are front of mind for many, but others of note include data ownership, food supply and the impact of AI. At a time when global problems are crying out for international action one clear challenge is how to continue to ensure broader, collaborative, complex decision-making between a growing number of different parties around the world all with individual, sometimes diverging, agendas. Those that want to be part of this more collaborative, multi-party, multi-agenda decision making will have to learn and adopt new styles of debate. 11 years after the Kyoto Protocol was signed—only to be consigned to irrelevance over the subsequent decade—nations would negotiate post-2012 action. The realities of climate change are clearer than ever, and the cost of action is mounting. Rich countries, historically responsible for climate change, are proposing new mechanisms to share the burden. Leading developing countries such as India and China need to negotiate hard as well and make a big push for renewables Read more on (http://cseindia.org/equitywatch.htm) Centre for Science and Environment www.cseindia.org/ Down To Earth http://downtoearth.org.in/

The Copenhagen Agreement is a document that delegates at the 15th session of the Conference of Parties (COP 15) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change agreed to "take note of" at the final plenary on 18 December 2009. The Accord, drafted by, on the one hand, the United States and on the other, in a united position as the BASIC countries (China, India, South Africa, and Brazil), is not legally binding and does not commit countries to agree to a binding successor to the Kyoto Protocol, whose round ended in 2012.

Please click 'download' to download the PDF. The world can save an estimated US$550 billion on the cost of deploying clean energy technologies over the next decade, putting them on a path to cost competitiveness, if countries work together to accelerate innovation by unlocking global collaboration. This is one of the key findings in a new report, United Innovations: cost-competitive clean energy through global collaboration, published today by the Carbon Trust, with funding from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Prosperity Fund.

This presentation explores how climate change alters the pursuit of economic development: the transformation of poor economies and their people into prosperous ones. This is hardly the first attempt to reconcile the climate agenda with that of economic development. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals are significant for defining a dual agenda where development targets for people and planet sit alongside each other in a unifying framework.1 Much commentary focuses on the compatibility of the two agendas. A radical and specious view pits progress on climate change and economic development as strict substitutes and calls for no less than the unravelling of economic development to save the planet.2 Cooler heads point instead to their complementarity: the critical role of economic development in supporting adaptation and the recognition that investments in the green transition will propel economies rather than sacrifice living standards.3 In contrast, this essay takes as its starting point that the goals and salience of economic development are immutable. The question posed here is how the quest for economic development changes in a world gripped by a changing climate. The essay argues that climate change will force three major changes: a reappraisal of the causes of and prospects for development, the rebirth of the economics of transition, and a reformulation of the problem development is trying to solve. In a final section, it asks what these changes could mean for international security and for the community of national and global actors who set policy and strategy in this field.
