Organization
Organization Job Descriptions District Leadership Superintendent The superintendent is responsible for the daily operation and leadership of the District, remains informed and updated about all aspects of the instructional programs to ensure that there is a continuous focus, using data-based decisions, to improve student academic performance, and works with the staff, board, and community to provide the very best curriculum planning for the district. The superintendent implements a system of accountability for the technology department and principals to follow. Technology Department The technology department provides leadership in technology applications and technology equipment. Within the department are specialists that update and maintain the District's computers, servers, network, software, and systems.
Campus Leadership Principal The principal is responsible for the daily operation and leadership of the campus, remains informed and updated about all aspects of the instructional programs to ensure that there is a continuous focus, using data-based decisions, to improve student academic performance, and works with the staff, board, and community to provide the very best curriculum planning for the district. The principal provides district data for the staff to review and make informed decisions, purchases technology needed for effective instruction, and implements a system of accountability for teachers to follow. Instructional Technology Specialist The specialist is responsible for training teachers in technology applications for both instruction and assessment, modeling instructional techniques, and helping teachers integrate technology into the core curriculum.
Instruction and Learning Teachers The teacher is responsible for increasing knowledge of technology applications, using district software to analyze student achievement, integrating technology into the core curriculum, and sharing integration with other teachers. Students Students are asked to provide input and suggestions to improve the integration of technology into the core curriculum.
Professional Development Planning Effective professional development is ongoing and based on individual and campus needs. Teachers and administrators use multiple data sources (including student, campus, and district achievement data from DMAC, AEIS, AYP, and personal proficiency data from STaR Chart and PDAS) to plan individual and campus technology goals. Using information from campus improvement plans from every campus in the district, the district’s technology plan, Texas’ Long-Range Plan for Technology, and interviews from the week three assignment, every staff member needs training and/or show evidence of effective use in:
Evaluation Planning Evidence of effective use and integration is shown through lesson plans, online sharing, professional development documentation, campus principal walk-through and PDAS documentation, staff meeting presentations, and improved student achievement. Each campus principal is responsible for implementing a system of accountability and evaluating campus improvement. The cycle is continuous with updates to the campus improvement plan at least once a year.
The Technology Department, together with the district technology committee, continually monitors and updates technology improvements and professional development needs. All stakeholders identified in the organization chart, plus community members and businesses, are asked to provide ongoing input and make recommendations for improvement in an annual survey. Local improvements are compared to state and national improvements annually.
