Paris councillors have decided to allow cyclists to ride through
red lights. Cyclists are required to give way to pedestrians,
and will be held responsible in the event of a collision.
Conflict between pedestrians and cyclists on crossings is
already a problem and Living Streets has major concerns
about the potential impact any similar measures in the UK.
We know from our supporters that many people find pavement
cycling and running red lights on pedestrian crossings – both
illegal in the UK – to be intimidating.
