2. •empowerment is the process that
allows one to gain the knowledge, skill-
sets and attitude needed to cope with
the changing world and the
circumstances in which one lives.
3. •“EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN NOT JUST A
GOAL IN ITSELF, BUT KEY TO ALL GLOBAL
DEVELOPMENT GOALS.”
•Since the ancient times when King‟s
were said to have as many as 200
wives, the social evils like
sati, female infanticide, dowry and
child marriage have been haunting
the Indian Society.
•Preference for male child Among the reasons
for this are pervasive patriarchal practices
that shape gender roles and attitudes that are
slow to change even as other behaviors
change more quickly. Sons are valued over
daughters; this lack of autonomy is
particularly evident in the increase in sex-
selective abortions, often against women‟s
4. • Women upliftment and empowerment in India first
received National and International recognition
when the Indira Gandhi‟s Government launched the
Indira Mahila Yojana and when the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) incorporated the
issue of Women Upliftment as one of its primary
objective .
•The status of women in India has been
subject to many great changes over the past
few millennia. From a largely unknown status
in ancient times through the low points of
the medieval period, to the promotion
of equal rights by many reformers, the
history of women in India has been eventful.
5. •The empowerment of women occurs in reality, when
women achieve increased control and participation in
decision making that leads to their better access to
resources, and therefore, improved socio-economic status.
•Women in India now participate in all activities such as
education, politics, media, art and culture, service
sectors, science and technology, etc.
•Since Independence concrete
efforts have been made for the
upliftment of women and to
educate them on important issues
of social, economic, political, legal
cadre
6. •Empowerment programmed into an organization creates employee beliefs about
contribute and their aspirations grow. Employee empowerment has been toughened
as a panacea for improving organizational competitiveness through enhanced
employee motivation ,morale ,satisfaction, commitment ,innovation. Instead of
series of levels which command and control the one immediately beneath them ,
power and information in may issues must be delegated ,decentralized and diffused.
trust must be established among superiors ,peers, subordinates. Information should
be shared as accessible through networking. This leads to do their jobs as effectively
as possible. IMPLEMENTATION OF EMPOWERMENT opportunities for participation.
7. •In India, year 2001 was declared as the year of Women’s empowerment, owing
to the fact that there have been regular amendments in the constitution from
welfare to empowerment of the second sex, especially in the last decade. Women
today have developed positive thinking, have become assertive, have added to
their self image and possess the ability to change even the perception of others.
They are not only self empowered but also have the ability to empower others.
Although the Indian government had enacted several laws to uplift the status of
women yet many women in some places continued to suffer in silence.
A cornerstone of gender equality is women's equal participation in
decision-making, but still there are pocket of groups in India where
women do not possess the decision making power.
8. •It has been rightly said that :- ”When a woman
can plan her family, she can plan the rest of her life.
When she is healthy, she can be more productive.”
•You don‟t have to be shades of grey; You
can stand out and shine bright A message
to every woman A message to every woman
A message to every woman .
•Although a situation you may find yourself
caught in is uncomfortable or troubling try
not to mistakenly make a mountain out of
mole hill. Think about it, if life truly is a
classroom full of lessons, we can't all be
expected to ace the pop quizzes that get
handed out.
9. •Empowerment is an important process in the organization
to foster the decision –making ,issues and to motivate the
employees who get immense job satisfaction. In the
contemporary business environment ,empowerment is
essential to be more competitive and productive.
Empowerment and improvement are said have higher
quality product &services less absenteeism, lower turn
over ,better decision-making and problem solving
which, in turn, result in greater organizational
effectiveness.
•,Mississippi, there are the morning training session son then
positive reinforcement that lire and more approachable. The
reason for these developments was best summoned up by one of
Mary Morse’s managers at Autodesk, who said ,”Job Satisfaction
and being challenged means as much to me as the money part of
it –just so long as I feel rewarded .”Simply put, a kind ,caring
approach can go long way in motivating people.
10. •In our country there is a continuous combat going on
between the orthodox society and the people who are
genuinely concerned about this prejudice against the second
sex. Undoubtedly this concerned group has also succeeded to
a noteworthy level. Indian womanhood is going under
metamorphism. Woman today is open minded, mentally and
emotionally
more stable than ever before. In their personal, professional
or social life
women are striving to create a world- a world which be all
theirs in true
sense, without any inhibitions and restrictions; where they
can break free
from conventional norms. This „New Woman‟ is striving to be
self–reliant,
emancipated and happy individual, who is sexually
uninhibited, intelligent,
confident and assertive. She wants to live with a heightened
sense of dignity.
• however complete women empowerment is still a goal to be
achieved.
