2. My magazine represents dominant ideology as I
have used conventions which connote
stereotypical views, thoughts and opinions.
Due to the fact that my target audience is female,
I have used a dominant representation through
colours and images. The use of font and colour in
the masthead have female connotations which
will allow the female audience to be more
attracted to my magazine. The font edges are
rounded and smooth which is representative of a
softer image of my target audience.
The younger people who are being represented in
my magazine are stereotyped as fun and trendy
as they are keeping up to date with recent pop
music.
3. Dominant ideology was being represented through the connotations of my
images and colours used in my production work to help attract the female
audience. However, emergent ideology is being represented in the view and
appearance of female teenagers. Many female teenagers in society are
branded as trying to grow up to fast and dependent on technology. However
no images used in my magazine represent this.
Connotations – dependent on Connotations – fun, happy, lively,
technology, lazy, gets no work lives life, etc.
completed, etc.
4. The article written in my magazine represents young teenagers as wanting to
make something of their life and those who are interested in the music industry.
In my article I have also written a brief bit on fashion of a pop star, this will
relate to many teenagers that my magazine is aimed at.
When writing my article, I chose to use language that felt like girly chit-chat
however I still made sure that I used standard English. This attracts my
audience and represents teenage girls in a way that they love secret sharing
and talking about new and exciting gossip, for my targeted age group, this is
stereotypical behaviour of females, so this aspect would be dominant ideology.
5. The three images used, which were taken by a Nikon
D700 camera, for my double page spread represents
my audience as natural and fresh.
The images are vibrant and refreshing which represents
my target audience as unpretentious and enjoying life
whilst they’re young.
The images which I produced all involve outdoor
scenery. This is a dominant representation of how
teenagers and ‘youths’ spend most of their free time
hanging around on the streets. However the model in
my image represents emergent ideology as she is not
displaying anti-social behaviour which is often a
portrayal for the youth of today.
