LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL
UT Permian Basin sits atop the Lone Star Conference standings at 8-1 after the first half of the double round-robin
schedule. Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M are right behind them at 7-2 in league action.
LSC play continues this week with action on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC men have a 105-76 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams
are currently 20-14 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-6 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Daeshon Francis, UT Permian Basin, SR, Guard, Indianapolis, Indiana, Lawrence North HS
Francis led the Falcons to a pair of victories last week, averaging 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He scored 15
points in a win over Texas A&M-Commerce Thursday night connecting on 9-12 on free throws. Francis added 26 points
in a victory over Tarleton State on Saturday. He went 8-8 from the free throw line while shooting 9-16 from the field
and added six assists. Francis leads the Lone Star Conference with 20.7 points per game on the season and is averaging
22.6 points in LSC games.
DEFENSIVE
Sammy Allen, UT Permian Basin, SR, Guard, Oakland, California, Alameda HS
Allen continues to be a force on the glass averaging 13.5 rebounds in a pair of wins last week. He grabbed 16 rebounds
in a victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday along with two steals. In the win over Tarleton State Saturday,
Allen recorded 11 rebounds. He helped the Falcons hold opponents to a 36.2 field goal percentage and 65-point scoring
average. This season, he leads the conference with 12.0 rebounds per game, and tops NCAA Division II with 9.61
defensive rebounds per game.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Willie Rooks, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had one of his best offensive weeks of his Lion career last week. He
averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 48 percent from the field in the Lions' two games against
nationally ranked opponents. He had 10 points and six rebounds in the Lions' narrow 64-63 loss to UT Permian Basin on
Saturday, also adding two assists. He then had a career-high 35 points against West Texas A&M, scoring 20 points in the
second half as the Lions climbed out of a 21-point deficit to tie the game late. Rooks went 10-19 from the field and 11-12
from the foul line and also had a season-high seven rebounds. Rooks is sixth in the LSC in scoring and sixth in field goal
percentage. His 35 points were the seventh most scored by a player in the LSC this season.
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, helped lead the Buffs' to an 86-82 win over No. 10 Texas A&M-
Commerce with a 30-point outing Saturday in a nationally broadcast game on ESPN3. Chavlovich averaged 20.5 points
for the week and added 11 points against Tarleton State last Thursday. He went a team-high 13 of 41 from the field
(.317), while going 4 of 19 from beyond the arc and 11 of 13 from the line. After TAMUC roared back in the second half,
Chavlovich had the go ahead bucket with 49 seconds left on an "and one" for a three-point win. He scored seven points
in the final three minutes to help the Buffs to the win. He added six assists in the game and 10 for the week. It was his
third game this season of 30 or more points and eighth of his career.
Deshawn Riddick, Tarleton State University, 23-point performance on the road helped Tarleton defeat No. 7 West
Texas A&M, 82-74. The Texan win snapped WT's 29-game home winning streak and was Tarleton's first win over a
ranked team this season. Riddick score 23 points on 7-11 shooting, including 6-8 on 3-pointers, and had seven assists
and zero turnovers in 39 minutes of play. Riddick scored 15 of his game-high 23 in the second half to lead the Texan
comeback. For the week, Riddick averaged 17 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 60
percent on 3-pointers.
Will Adler , Angelo State University, headed the Angelo State offense from beyond the arch this week. The junior
was 60 percent from deep for the week, and sank a team leading seven 3-balls for a season high 21 points against
Western New Mexico. During this game, his contribution allowed the team to set a new 3-point program record as the
Rams tallied 17 for the night. In addition, he shot 56.3 percent from the field on his way to averaging 13.5 points for the
week. The Kansas native also aided the ASU defense with a team third 10 boards and pocketed a pair of steals.
Zach Parker, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong week for the Eastern New Mexico University men's
basketball team as the Hounds split a pair of Lone Star Conference match-ups. The junior guard averaged 13 points and
shot 40 percent from three-point range to help the Hounds take Texas A&M-Kingsville to overtime, before defeating
Angelo State. Parker was exceptionally explosive in the second half of ENMU's win over the Rams, when he scored all 17
of his points. Parker also chipped in nine points against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, tallied his team-leading 11th double-double of the season in a thrilling 86-
82 win over No. 10 Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday. He had 13 points and 16 rebounds in the game, including 10
defensive stops with three blocks. Quaid averaged a double-double for the week on 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds as
he pulled down 12 offensive boards and 12 defensive rebounds for the week. He was 11 of 20 from the field (.550) and
5 of 8 from the line, while recording three assists and the three blocks. The double-double against TAMUC marked his
17th of his career.
Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, averaged a double-double in a pair of road games against No. 7 West Texas
A&M and No. 11 UT Permian Basin. Hawley posted 10 points and 10 rebounds in an 82-74 upset win over West Texas
A&M, snapping the Buffs' 29-game home winning streak. Hawley and the Texans held WT to 14 points below their
season average and the Buffs only shot 37 percent against the Texan defense. Hawley followed with 14 points, 11
rebounds and three blocks against UT Permian Basin.
Dorian Armstrong, Texas A&M University-Commerce, averaged nearly a double-double last week, scoring 9.5 points
per game to go along with 9.5 rebounds per game. He also had three steals and three blocks in the Lions' two close
losses to nationally ranked opponents. Armstrong had eight points and 14 rebounds against UT Permian Basin in the
Lions' one-point loss, while also recording two blocks and three steals in the game. He added a block against West Texas
A&M to go along with five rebounds and 11 points in the Lions' four-point loss to the Buffs. Armstrong is fourth in the
LSC in rebounds, 10th in steals and 12th in blocks.
Brandon Williams, Angelo State University, was a major role player for the ASU defense this week. Averaging 7.5
boards for the week, the big man pulled down a team leading total of 15 boards. He also blocked four total balls during
the two game road stretch, with three of those coming during the Rams match up with Eastern New Mexico.
Offensively, he recorded 13 total points.
Maurice Coleman, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong effort from the Greyhound men's basketball team
last week. His performance helped force the opposition into 28 turnovers, which ENMU converted into 31 points. The
junior guard had two steals and a block against Texas A&M-Kingsville and followed with three steals against Angelo
State. Coleman also grabbed 10 defensive rebounds to help limit the opposition's second opportunities. He also was an
asset on the offensive side of the court, with 13 points per game along with seven assists.
Haneef Vaughn-Wilson, Western New Mexico, nearly led the Mustangs in every category as he came away with
seven steals, two blocks, five rebounds and was second on the team in scoring with 18 points. He had four steals against
Angelo State, along with two assists and 10 points. The next game versus the Javelinas he had three steals, two blocks,
four rebounds and eight points.

Angelo State
Angelo State went 1-1 on its longest road trip of the season. The Rams started with a win in Silver City, New Mexico as
the team set a new record for 3-pointers made during a game with 17. ASU then lost a close one to Eastern New Mexico
two days later, despite having Antonio Singleton drop a team season high 33 points against the Greyhounds. The Rams
return home this coming week as it seeks redemption with a match up against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday,
January 23 and then Dallas Christian on Saturday, January 27.
Cameron
1-0 last week.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team continued its run of tightly contested games with a split against Texas
A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. The win over ASU was ENMU's fourth in the last six games, with the margin of victory
falling at an average of 83-79 points per game. Against Angelo State, ENMU converted on a season-best .524 from three-
point range and never trailed. The Hounds dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Texas A&M-Kingsville. This week, the
Hounds will visit West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State had its two-game winning streak snapped 76-62 at Cameron... The Aggies have claimed three
consecutive wins over MSU for the first time since the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons... It's the fourth time Cameron has
won three-straight against MSU in a series that goes back to the 1967-68 season... Midwestern State, who holds a 47-28
overall edge in the series, has never dropped four straight to the Aggies... Senior guard Devante Pullum dropped in a
team-high 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting with three 3-pointers... Pullum has scored double digits in each of his last six
games and in 12 of the last 13.... Pullum ranks fifth in the league during conference play averaging 17 points per game
and leads the LSC with 5.3 assists... Senior guard Brandon Neel logged his 10th consecutive game with 10-or-more points
with 14 points and six rebounds... Neel is sixth in the LSC during league play at 16.7 points per game... Sophomore guard
Logan Hicks notched his 13th double-figure effort of the season finishing iwth 10 points... Hicks has connected on two
triples in each of his last four games... Junior forward Ola Ayodele logged five points and a season-high 14 rebounds in
29 minutes making his first start of the season...
Tarleton State
1-1 last week.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The No. 10 Lions suffered two close defeats against two nationally ranked opponents last week. A&M-C lost to No. 11 UT
Permian Basin and were narrowly defeated by No. 7 West Texas A&M after falling behind by 21. The Lions host three
home games this week: Dallas Christian on Monday, Midwestern State on Thursday and Cameron on Saturday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2-0 last week.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin went 2-0 this week with victories over Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State to grab first place in
the Lone Star Conference. Daeshon Francis scored 41 points between the two games going 17-20 from the free throw
line. James McPherson added 34 points knocking down 10-21 on three-pointers. Sammy Allen added to his conference
lead grabbing 27 total rebounds. UTPB ends the first half of the conference schedule 8-1.
West Texas A&M
The No. 7 West Texas A&M men's basketball team saw its 29-game home winning streak come to an end with an 82-74
loss to Tarleton State on Thursday...WT had a double-digit lead in the game, but TSU shot lights out in the second half
from beyond the arc to fight its way back into the game...The Texans stymied the Buffs' high-powered offense and held
WT to 37 percent for the game and 27 percent from beyond the arc...Moreover WT went just 2 of 19 from beyond the
arc in the second half...The Buffs responded with a thrilling 86-82 win over No. 10 Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday
on ESPN3 as the Division II National Game of the Week...The Buffs had a 30-point output from David Chavlovich for his
third game of 30 or more points this season as once again WT jumped out to a big lead, only to see TAMUC roar back in
the second half...Chavlovich hit the game winner "and one" with 46 second left as he scored seven points in the final
three minutes helping the Buffs to the win...The Buffs stand at 17-2 and 7-2 in LSC play tied for second with TAMUC as
WT hosts Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico this week and UTPB next Tuesday to close out a five-game
home stand...February will have WT playing four of its final six games on the road...The ENMU game Thursday begins the
second half of the conference slate.
Western New Mexico
Despite holding Texas A&M-Kingsville to just 64 points, the Mustangs weren't able to tally enough points as they fell to
both the Javelinas and Angelo State. Jordan Enriquez and Haneef Vaughn-Wilson led the offense, while Vaughn-Wilson
was strong on the defensive end with two blocks, seven steals and five rebounds. Vaughn-Wilson nearly led the
Mustangs in every category as he came away with seven steals, two blocks, five rebounds and was second on the team
in scoring with 18 points. He had four steals against Angelo State, along with two assists and 10 points. The next game
versus the Javelinas he had three steals, two blocks, four rebounds and eight points.

Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M are right behind them at 7-2 in league action. LSC play continues this week with action on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The LSC men have a 105-76 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 20-14 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-6 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. LSC schedule and results available here: http://www.lonestarconference.org/calendar.aspx?path=mbball&& PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Daeshon Francis, UT Permian Basin, SR, Guard, Indianapolis, Indiana, Lawrence North HS Francis led the Falcons to a pair of victories last week, averaging 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He scored 15 points in a win over Texas A&M-Commerce Thursday night connecting on 9-12 on free throws. Francis added 26 points in a victory over Tarleton State on Saturday. He went 8-8 from the free throw line while shooting 9-16 from the field and added six assists. Francis leads the Lone Star Conference with 20.7 points per game on the season and is averaging 22.6 points in LSC games. DEFENSIVE Sammy Allen, UT Permian Basin, SR, Guard, Oakland, California, Alameda HS Allen continues to be a force on the glass averaging 13.5 rebounds in a pair of wins last week. He averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 48 percent from the field in the Lions' two games against nationally ranked opponents. He had 10 points and six rebounds in the Lions' narrow 64-63 loss to UT Permian Basin on Saturday, also adding two assists. He then had a career-high 35 points against West Texas A&M, scoring 20 points in the second half as the Lions climbed out of a 21-point deficit to tie the game late. Rooks went 10-19 from the field and 11-12 from the foul line and also had a season-high seven rebounds. Rooks is sixth in the LSC in scoring and sixth in field goal percentage. His 35 points were the seventh most scored by a player in the LSC this season. David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, helped lead the Buffs' to an 86-82 win over No. 10 Texas A&M- Commerce with a 30-point outing Saturday in a nationally broadcast game on ESPN3. Chavlovich averaged 20.5 points for the week and added 11 points against Tarleton State last Thursday. He went a team-high 13 of 41 from the field (.317), while going 4 of 19 from beyond the arc and 11 of 13 from the line. After TAMUC roared back in the second half, Chavlovich had the go ahead bucket with 49 seconds left on an "and one" for a three-point win. He scored seven points in the final three minutes to help the Buffs to the win. He added six assists in the game and 10 for the week. It was his third game this season of 30 or more points and eighth of his career. Deshawn Riddick, Tarleton State University, 23-point performance on the road helped Tarleton defeat No. 7 West Texas A&M, 82-74. The Texan win snapped WT's 29-game home winning streak and was Tarleton's first win over a ranked team this season. Riddick score 23 points on 7-11 shooting, including 6-8 on 3-pointers, and had seven assists and zero turnovers in 39 minutes of play. Riddick scored 15 of his game-high 23 in the second half to lead the Texan comeback. For the week, Riddick averaged 17 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 60 percent on 3-pointers. Will Adler , Angelo State University, headed the Angelo State offense from beyond the arch this week. The junior was 60 percent from deep for the week, and sank a team leading seven 3-balls for a season high 21 points against Western New Mexico. During this game, his contribution allowed the team to set a new 3-point program record as the Rams tallied 17 for the night. In addition, he shot 56.3 percent from the field on his way to averaging 13.5 points for the week. The Kansas native also aided the ASU defense with a team third 10 boards and pocketed a pair of steals. Parker was exceptionally explosive in the second half of ENMU's win over the Rams, when he scored all 17 of his points. Parker also chipped in nine points against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, tallied his team-leading 11th double-double of the season in a thrilling 86- 82 win over No. 10 Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday. He had 13 points and 16 rebounds in the game, including 10 defensive stops with three blocks. Quaid averaged a double-double for the week on 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds as he pulled down 12 offensive boards and 12 defensive rebounds for the week. He was 11 of 20 from the field (.550) and 5 of 8 from the line, while recording three assists and the three blocks. The double-double against TAMUC marked his 17th of his career. Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, averaged a double-double in a pair of road games against No. 7 West Texas A&M and No. 11 UT Permian Basin. Hawley posted 10 points and 10 rebounds in an 82-74 upset win over West Texas A&M, snapping the Buffs' 29-game home winning streak. Hawley and the Texans held WT to 14 points below their season average and the Buffs only shot 37 percent against the Texan defense. Hawley followed with 14 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks against UT Permian Basin. Dorian Armstrong, Texas A&M University-Commerce, averaged nearly a double-double last week, scoring 9.5 points per game to go along with 9.5 rebounds per game. He also had three steals and three blocks in the Lions' two close losses to nationally ranked opponents. Armstrong had eight points and 14 rebounds against UT Permian Basin in the Lions' one-point loss, while also recording two blocks and three steals in the game. He added a block against West Texas A&M to go along with five rebounds and 11 points in the Lions' four-point loss to the Buffs. Armstrong is fourth in the LSC in rebounds, 10th in steals and 12th in blocks. Brandon Williams, Angelo State University, was a major role player for the ASU defense this week. Averaging 7.5 boards for the week, the big man pulled down a team leading total of 15 boards. He also blocked four total balls during the two game road stretch, with three of those coming during the Rams match up with Eastern New Mexico. Offensively, he recorded 13 total points. Maurice Coleman, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong effort from the Greyhound men's basketball team last week. His performance helped force the opposition into 28 turnovers, which ENMU converted into 31 points. The junior guard had two steals and a block against Texas A&M-Kingsville and followed with three steals against Angelo State. Coleman also grabbed 10 defensive rebounds to help limit the opposition's second opportunities. He also was an asset on the offensive side of the court, with 13 points per game along with seven assists. Haneef Vaughn-Wilson, Western New Mexico, nearly led the Mustangs in every category as he came away with seven steals, two blocks, five rebounds and was second on the team in scoring with 18 points. He had four steals against Angelo State, along with two assists and 10 points. The next game versus the Javelinas he had three steals, two blocks, four rebounds and eight points. The Rams started with a win in Silver City, New Mexico as the team set a new record for 3-pointers made during a game with 17. ASU then lost a close one to Eastern New Mexico two days later, despite having Antonio Singleton drop a team season high 33 points against the Greyhounds. The Rams return home this coming week as it seeks redemption with a match up against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday, January 23 and then Dallas Christian on Saturday, January 27.   • 4. Eastern New Mexico The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team continued its run of tightly contested games with a split against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. The win over ASU was ENMU's fourth in the last six games, with the margin of victory falling at an average of 83-79 points per game. Against Angelo State, ENMU converted on a season-best .524 from three- point range and never trailed. The Hounds dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Texas A&M-Kingsville. This week, the Hounds will visit West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin. Midwestern State Midwestern State had its two-game winning streak snapped 76-62 at Cameron... The Aggies have claimed three consecutive wins over MSU for the first time since the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons... It's the fourth time Cameron has won three-straight against MSU in a series that goes back to the 1967-68 season... Midwestern State, who holds a 47-28 overall edge in the series, has never dropped four straight to the Aggies...
