LSC VOLLEYBALL
Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M lead the Lone Star Conference standings at 2-0 to start league play.
LSC games continue this week with two games Tuesday, one Wednesday, and five each on Friday and Saturday.
LSC volleyball teams are 55-47 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-16 combined versus Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference teams, and 6-5 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South
Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, SR, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS
Roberts continued her strong senior campaign as the Cedar Park native landed 62 kills in three matches, leading Tarleton
to two wins last weekend. Roberts went for a double-double in all three matches for the TexAnns last week and topped
the 20-kill plateau against Dallas Baptist and Texas A&M-Commerce. For the week, Roberts hit .279, including a .447 clip
at Texas Woman's Friday night, to go along with two assists, five service aces, 42 digs, six blocks, and 70.0 total points.
DEFENSIVE
Shelley Chapron, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SO, Houston, Texas, St. Pius X HS
Chapron led the Lion defense with 23 total blocks in the Lions' three wins last week. She had a career-high 11 blocks
against Tarleton State, which ties for the most in the LSC this season. Chapron had at least five blocks in each match as
the Lions held opponents to a .165 hitting percentage. She was also a force on offense out of the middle, with 32 kills
and a team-best hitting percentage of .328. She had 13 kills in the Lions 3-1 win over Dallas Baptist and 12 kills against
No. 5 Angelo State, where she hit .667.
SETTER
Gabriela Rosa, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Guamani Private School
Rosa was spot on for the Lions in their three wins last week. She led the team with 93 assists, including a career-high 33
assists in the Lions 3-1 win over Dallas Baptist. Rosa had at least 29 assists in each of the Lions' wins against top-25
opponents Angelo State and Tarleton State averaging 6.64 assists per set. Rosa was also third on the team with 41 digs
and had two aces and two kills. She was instrumental in the offense in both of the Lions' upset wins to begin conference
action.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Shelby Sheets, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, had a break out weekend as she led the Javelinas with 3.62 kills per
set and 29 total kills in three matches. Sheets hit .302 from the floor and totaled 32.5 points. After setting a career-high
.438 attack percentage on nine kills in the Javelinas home opener against St. Mary's, Sheets topped that performance in
the 3-0 victory over Western New Mexico with a match-high 12 kills and 13.5 points.
Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, continues to lead the Belles attack. This week she headed the team with
3.60 kills per set and a .299 clip. She recorded a season high 22 kills against Texas Woman's with a .425 hitting
percentage for the match. The senior also assisted the defense with 1.90 digs per set for the week. This allowed her to
mark her team leading third double-doubles on the year with a 14 kill, 10 dig performance against Texas A&M -
Commerce.
Kalie Lyle, Western New Mexico, paced the offense with 21 kills and hit .353 in the matches against Eastern New
Mexico and Texas A&M-Kingsville. She also added a service ace, 11 digs and a block. Lyle had a big match against the
Greyhounds posting 13 kills to no errors in 24 chances to end up with a .542 hitting percentage. She hit nearly .200
against the Javelinas with eight more kills.
Layne Little, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions in kills last week, posting 48 kills in the Lions' 3-0 week.
She had 17 kills in both of the Lions' five set wins to open up conference play against top-25 opponents Angelo State and
Tarleton State. Little had four aces, four blocks and was second on the team with 43 digs.
Miri Shade, Texas Woman's University, tallied team highs in kills against No. 14 Tarleton State and in the defeat of
No. 5 Angelo State. Against the TexAnns, the redshirt senior fired off eight kills early to lead the Pioneers to a set one
win and collected her first double-double at TWU with 17 total kills and a team-high 15 digs in the match along with
three service aces. Versus the Belles, Shade also totaled a team-best four blocks, including one solo, in addition to her
team-best 12 kills.
Andrea Aguilar, Eastern New Mexico University, was a stalwart on the defensive side this week. The Clovis, NM,
native had 23 digs in the Greyhounds four-set win over Texas A&M-Kingsville, and averaged 5.43 digs/set on the week.
Aerielle Edwards, Midwestern State University, put together a strong weekend leading the Midwestern State
defense after averaging 5.33 digs per set and limiting opponents to a .198 hitting percentage in three matches last
weekend. The Haltom City, Texas native totaled the second most digs of her career to begin the week Friday with 23 at
West Texas A&M. She followed up later that afternoon with 12 digs against No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney while recording 13

3. in a sweep of UT Permian Basin Saturday. Edwards currently ranks third in the LSC with 4.64 digs per set after moving
from outside hitter to libero this season.
Micheala Sifuentes, Angelo State University, anchoring the team's defense this week, she marked a career high 27
digs against Texas A&M-Commerce. Adding another 15 digs against Texas Woman's, she recorded a team most 42 digs
for the week.
Lexi Wick, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, there is no slump for the 2016 LSC Newcomer of the Year, caused havoc
in the middle of the floor. Aside from her dominant offensive game, Wick finished the week with 1.27 blocks per set with
14 total blocks and logged 0.82 digs per set. Wick totaled 37.5 points in 11 sets and was a big component in holding the
Javelina opponents to a hitting percentage of .117.
Heather Verrill, Western New Mexico, continues to work her way back into the lineup as she led the team with 10
blocks, including two solo. She also had eight kills and two digs. Verrill had five blocks in each match, with two solo and
three assists against the Javelinas. She also had her high in kills with five in that same match.
Hannah McManus, Tarleton State University, had the best defensive week of her junior season so far as she totaled
13.0 blocks in 12 sets for Tarleton, including 11 over nine sets at Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce. In addition
to her work at the net, she hit .356 with 25 kills. Against the Lions, McManus had 13 kills on 25 swings with no errors for
a .520 hit percentage. She scored 34.0 points for the week and added a dig.
Katy Ranes, Texas Woman's University, compiled game-highs in assists against No. 14 Tarleton State and in the win
over No. 5 Angelo State. Against the TexAnns, the sophomore dished out 33 assists and nearly had a double-double
with nine kills. Versus the Belles, Ranes totaled 50 assists and again was one dig short of a double-double."
Meghan Parker, Angelo State University, continued to set the rock for ASU this week. The setter out of San Antonio
averaged 8.20 assists per set with a total of 82 assists for the two matches. After a recording 39 assists against Texas
A&M - Commerce, the sophomore added 43 assists to her total against Texas Woman's. This tied a season most for the
setter. She also co-led ASU with 3 aces from the service line and tallied 22 digs. Parker's 13-dig performance against
TWU not only marked a season high, but also allowed her to tally her second double-double this season.
Jordyn Keamo, Tarleton State University, nearly did what no other TexAnn has ever done as the senior from Hawaii
boasted a near triple-double performance against Texas A&M-Commerce. Keamo landed a career high 16 kills on a .263
hitting percentage while dishing out 37 assists and recording eight digs. For the week, Keamo dished out 97 assists in
Tarleton's 6-2 rotation for an average of 8.08 assists per set. She also had a double-double against Dallas Baptist.
Cristal Carrizoza, Western New Mexico, set the offense with 37 assists, averaging 6.17 assists per set. She also
added two service aces and 12 digs. She had 20 assists in the win over Eastern New Mexico and made it a double-double
with 11 digs.

Angelo State
Angelo State remained in the AVCA top 15 this week as it fell to No. 11 after a two match skid. The Belles look to
continue to defend the home court as it faces No. 17 Tarleton State, UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M this coming
week. ASU is currently riding a 24-match home win streak.
Cameron
1-2 last week.
Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds went 1-1 this past week as they opened up conference play. ENMU lost 3-0 on the road to Western
New Mexico, but posted a 3-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville at home. This week, the Greyhounds go to New Mexico
Highlands on Tuesday before returning to LSC play on Friday at Cameron and Saturday at Midwestern State.

4. Midwestern State
Midwestern State went 1-2 on the road last week to move to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the LSC. The Mustangs opened up
conference play Friday against West Texas A&M, falling to the Lady Buffs in three sets. MSU faced its third nationally
ranked opponent of the season in its second match Friday, dropping a 3-0 decision in non-conference action to No. 6
Nebraska-Kearney. The Mustangs closed out their road swing Saturday, sweeping UT Permian Basin in Odessa to earn
their first league win of the season. After three-straight weeks on the road to open the season, Midwestern State plays
host to Western New Mexico in its home opener Friday at 5:30 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Tarleton State
Tarleton won two games last week and will travel to Angelo State Wednesday before coming home for matches against
West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin this weekend.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions had their best week of the young season, winning all three of their games to open up their home schedule.
The Lions defeated Dallas Baptist in four sets on Tuesday. The Lions then had back-to-back five-set upset wins against
top-25 ranked opponents to open up their conference schedule. The Lions defeated No. 5 Angelo State on Friday and
No. 14 Tarleton State on Saturday. The Lions continue their conference schedule with road matchups against Texas
Woman's on Tuesday and A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2-1 last week.
Texas Woman’s
TWU fell to No. 14 Tarleton State Friday in four sets before defeating No. 5 Angelo State in five sets for the biggest upset
in Pioneer volleyball history.
UT Permian Basin

West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M started off their 2017 Lone Star Conference schedule unbeaten this past week with
home sweeps of Midwestern State and Cameron while falling to then No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney in four sets to move to 7-
4 (2-0 LSC) overall. WT returns to action tonight as they host UT Permian Basin with first serve set for 7:00 p.m. at The
Box in Canyon.
Western New Mexico
WNMU found the win column to start the week with a commanding 3-0 sweep of in-state rival Eastern New Mexico.
Texas A&M-Kingsville responded after a tough loss the night before to the Greyhounds to defeat the Lady Mustangs 3-0
on Saturday evening. Lyle paced the offense with 21 kills and hit .353 in the matches against ENMU and TAMUK. She
also added a service ace, 11 digs and a block. Lyle had a big match against the Greyhounds posting 13 kills to no errors in
24 chances to end up with a .542 hitting percentage. She hit nearly .200 against the Javelinas with eight more kills.
Carrizoza set the offense with 37 assists, averaging 6.17 assists per set. She also added two service aces and 12 digs. She
had 20 assists in the win over Eastern New Mexico and made it a double-double with 11 digs. Verrill continues to work
