LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
West Texas A&M remains undefeated this season at 9-0 overall and 4-0 in Lone Star Conference games. Midwestern
State is unbeaten in league play at 3-0.
This week’s schedule features non-conference games.
The LSC women are 49-50 overall. The women’s squads are currently 15-11 combined against the Heartland, and
10-12 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Whitney Taylor, Midwestern State, 5-11, Sr., Melissa, Texas, Melissa HS
Taylor poured in a season-high 18 points to lead Midwestern State to a 73-64 win over Angelo State Thursday night at
Junell Center. She was 4-of-7 from the field -- all 3-pointers -- and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe while grabbing six
rebounds and dishing out five assists to help the Mustangs improve to 6-2 on the season. The win was just the third in
17 tries for the Mustangs in the facility and extended MSU's winning streak to three games while moving to 3-0 in LSC
play for the first time since 2014-15.
DEFENSIVE
Marquita Daniels, Angelo State University, SR, Guard, Atlanta, Georgia
Daniels helped the Belles by averaging 6.5 steals per game including the seventh best single-season game in Division II
this season with eight steals. Daniels eight steals helped ASU score 25 points off turnovers against Midwestern State.
The senior averaged 19.0 points per game including a career high 24 points versus Cameron. ASU limited opponents to
just 44.1 percent from the field for the week.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
De'Anira Moore, Angelo State University, led the Belles offensively scoring a career high in back to back games. The
sophomore scored 21 points against both Midwestern State and Cameron. She added her fourth double-double of the
season versus MSU. She hit 59.1 percent from the field and averaged 9.5 rebounds per game. She helped defensively
with six blocks as well.
Brianna Wise, Texas A&M University-Commerce, continued her scoring frenzy last weekend, setting a career-high
with 30 points against Eastern New Mexico. Wise was key for the Lions down the stretch in the game, scoring 17 points
in the 4th quarter, including the last 15 Lion points to help force overtime. The Lions ended up winning the game in OT.
Wise then had nine points against Western New Mexico. She averaged 19.5 points to go along with 6.0 rebounds on the
week. Wise is averaging 21.5 points in conference games, which leads the LSC. She is also leading the conference in field
goal percentage.
Grace Mitchell, Texas Woman's University, had her best outing in a TWU uniform during a victory at UT Permian
Basin Saturday with 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting, 15 rebounds and five assists, all career-highs. The redshirt senior
fueled a 25-3 Pioneer run in the fourth quarter against the Falcons with three straight buckets to give TWU a 19-point
lead and an eventual win. On the week, Mitchell averaged 17.5 points on 64-percent shooting, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0
assists.
Katie Webster, Tarleton State University, had a career week for the TexAnns. The junior from Rockwall poured in a
career high 22 points to lead Tarleton to a win over Western New Mexico Thursday and followed up with 16 points
against Eastern New Mexico Saturday. She went 14-25 shooting from the floor, including 3-6 from downtown, and 7-8
from the free throw line. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game and totaled six assists and three steals.
Deleyah Harris, West Texas A&M University, continued to impress for the #4 Lady Buffs this past week as the junior
guard led WT to wins over UT Permian Basin and Texas Woman's in Lone Star Conference play to move the Lady Buffs to
9-0 (3-0 LSC) on the season. The Kirkwood CC transfer went 11-of-21 (52.4%) from the floor including 2-of-6 (33%) from
deep and 11-of-14 (78.6%) from the free throw line with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals while averaging
17.5 points and 26.5 minutes per game. Harris went 8-f-14 from the floor including 2-of-4 from deep and 2-of-2 from
the charity stripe on Thursday night for a career-high 20 points against TWU in Canyon.
Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University, sparked the team offensively last week. With 16.5 points per
game in road contests against Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State, she led the Hounds in scoring. She registered
her first 20-point game of the year at A&M-Commerce and had five rebounds and three blocked shots in that game.
Connor followed with 13 points, three assists, four rebounds and a steal in an overtime win at Tarleton State.
Takiyah Lopez, Western New Mexico, nearly scored in double-figures in both games going for 24 points, making
eight field goals and five three-pointers. She also grabbed three rebounds, dished out an assists and had a steal. Lopez
went for 15 points, hitting 5-7 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, along with three rebounds against
Tarleton State. She made three three-pointers versus Texas A&M-Commerce, piling up nine points.

3. Daeshi McCants, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong defensive effort which held the opposition to 68
points per game on a two-game LSC road swing. She had three steals at Texas A&M-Commerce and followed with a pair
of blocked shots in the Greyhounds' overtime win at Tarleton State. Over the two contests, she had 10 defensive
rebounds and hit 80 percent of her free throws.
Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M University, had a big week for the fourth ranked Lady Buffs as the Chehalis,
Washington native led WT to Lone Star Conference wins over UT Permian Basin and Texas Woman's to move to 9-0 (3-0
LSC) on the season. She helped hold opponents to 54.5 points per game. The Tennessee State transfer went 6-of-11
(54.5%) from the floor to go along with 14 rebounds (seven offensive, seven defensive), one assist and one block while
averaging 6.0 points and 16.0 minutes per contest. Parker went 3-of-6 from the floor for six points while grabbing 10
rebounds on Tuesday night in Odessa as the Lady Buffs cruised past UT Permian Basin.
Princess Davis, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions in minutes last week and not only led the Lions on
offense but was a force on the defensive end. She helped hold opponents to 48.5 points per game and just 35 percent
shooting. Davis had two steals and a block in the Lions' overtime win against Eastern New Mexico, helping the Lions
outscore the Greyhounds by 15 points in the 4th quarter plus overtime. She played 42 of the 45 minutes in the game.
Davis then was a key part of the Lion defense against WNMU, holding the Mustangs to just 40 points and 29 percent
shooting. Davis had 14 points and five rebounds to go along with a steal in the game. She is third in the LSC in minutes
and second in assists during conference action.
McKinley Bostad, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton's defensive effort over the last week. The junior guard
grabbed seven rebounds and led the team with five steals.

Eastern New Mexico
On a road trip to Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State, the Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team played in
consecutive overtime games for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Hounds put forth a strong effort at A&M-
Commerce and led for 37:41 of play, before the Lions rallied for the overtime win. Mikaehla Connor paced Eastern with
20 points, while Daeshi McCants posted her second double double of the season. Shelby Jones registered her second
double double of the year just two days later, as ENMU went overtime to pick up a win at Tarleton State. This week,
ENMU will visit St. Mary's.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State improved to 6-2 with a 73-64 win at Angelo State on Thursday... The Mustangs are off to their best
start since the 2014-15 team posted a 13-1 start... The win over Angelo State was Noel Johnson's 132nd career win tying
her with Shannon Burks as the program's all-time leader in coaching wins... Midwestern State claimed its third win all
time at the Junell Center,b ut have won three of the last six dating back to the 2012-13 season... MSU boasts 10 players
averaging at least 4.7 points per game... Senior forward Whitney Taylor buried four 3-pointers to finish with a season-
high 18 points against Angelo State... Taylor now has 129 career 3-pointers and needs just four more to move past
Andrea Buben (132 3s/2006-10) to move into second on MSU's all-time 3-point makes list... Senior forward Micheline
Mercelita notched her third double-figure effort of the season with 11 points and five rebounds... Senior guard Jasmine
Richardson scored a season-high 11 points, as well. She connected on her first triple of the season to close the first
4. period... Senior guard Kristin Rydell also notched a campaign best with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. She knocked in two
3-pointers...
Tarleton State
Tarleton split last week's home stand against Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico. The TexAnns will head to
Fort Smith, Arkansas Saturday for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Lions.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went 2-0 last week, defeating Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico at home. The Lions defeated
ENMU in overtime for their second OT win in conference play. The team is two games over .500 for the first time this
season and is 3-1 in LSC play. After playing an exhibition game against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, the Lions will face
St. Mary's on Dec. 19 in their final game of the calendar year.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
0-1 last week.
Texas Woman’s
TWU dropped a contest, 81-61, at No. 4 West Texas A&M Thursday before defeating UT Permian Basin, 78-61, Saturday.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin dropped a pair of games this past week, falling 75-48 to #4 West Texas A&M and 78-61 against Texas
Woman's. Sierra LaGrande led the Falcons on the week, averaging 16.5 points per game in leading UTPB in scoring both
games with a combined nine 3-pointers for the week.
West Texas A&M
The No. 4 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continued their hot start to the 2017-18 season this past week as they topped
UT Permian Basin and Texas Woman's during Lone Star Conference action to move to 9-0 overall with a 3-0 mark in LSC
play. The Lady Buffs head to Bellingham, Washington to take part in the 2017 Viking Holiday Hoops Classic on the
campus of Western Washington on December 18-19. WT will take on Simon Frasier on Monday, December 18 at 7 p.m.
CT before wrapping up the road trip with the host Vikings on Tuesday, December 19 at 9:30 p.m. CT at Sam Carver
Gymnasium.
Western New Mexico
Takiyah Lopez had a pair of good scoring games to help lead the Lady Mustangs this week as she averaged 12 points.
Cassandra Vickery was second on the team with 18 points, while leading the team with four steals. Ashton Carrasco
pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and also had 12 points. Lopez nearly scored in double-figures in both games
going for 24 points, making eight field goals and five three-pointers. She also grabbed three rebounds, dished out an
assists and had a steal. Lopez went for 15 points, hitting 5-7 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, along with
three rebounds against Tarleton State. She made three three-pointers versus Texas A&M-Commerce, piling up nine
points.
