LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release (01/30/17)
1. LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Eastern New Mexico continues to lead the Lone Star Conference standings at 11-1 in league play, while Angelo
State is a game back at 10-2.
LSC play rolls on this week with one league contest Tuesday and five on both Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC women are 115-93 overall. The women’s squads are currently 14-9 combined against the Heartland,
and 9-9 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, SR, Guard, Killeen, Texas, Killeen Ellison HS
Saygo moved up to fifth all-time in scoring at TWU following a 25-point performance against Texas A&M-
Kingsville and a career-high 33 points versus Angelo State, the second-highest single-game output within the
LSC this season. The senior’s record-setting performance included an 11-of-19 performance from the field and
15 tries from the free throw line, which also set a career-high. Throughout the two contests, Saygo averaged 29
points on 56-percent shooting and grabbed 5.5 rebounds.
DEFENSIVE
Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, JR, Forward, Amarillo, Texas, Canyon HS
Parker came up huge off the bench for the Lady Buffs this week in a pair of key wins on the road. In the victory
at league-leader Eastern New Mexico, she pulled down seven rebounds in the game to lead the team as WT
held ENMU to just 25.9 percent from the field (15 of 58) and just 52 points. Parker went 4 of 12 from the field
and a career-best 8 of 12 from the line for a career-high 17 points. She followed that performance with five
points and five rebounds at Western New Mexico as the Lady Buff defense held WNMU to 52 points.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jamie Bonnarens, Cameron University, helped guide CU to two wins this past week, as they took down
Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. She had a team-high 18 points in the win over the TexAnns and then
was second on the team with 22 points against the Lions. Bonnarens made over 44 percent of her shots from
the field, while going 4-7 from three and 12-14 from the free throw line during the two game span. She is now
second on the team and 10th in the LSC in scoring with 13.3 points per game, while shooting 42.5 percent from
the field and 74.6 percent from the charity stripe.
Sierra LaGrande, UT Permian Basin, had a huge week for the Falcons, helping them to a road win at Western
New Mexico and a home win over Arlington Baptist. She shot 50 percent or better from 3-point range in all
three games, hitting 5-6 beyond the arc in the win over Western New Mexico, 3-6 in a loss at Eastern New
Mexico, and 7-9 with 23 points in the home win over Arlington Baptist. She led all Falcons with 17.7 ppg in the
three-game stretch, shooting 63 percent overall from the field.
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton State University, was a force for the TexAnns offensively as she led the team in scoring
in both games and dished out a career high eight assists in Saturday’s win at Midwestern State. Wipff averaged
17.0 points per game on the road against Cameron and Midwestern State while shooting .500 from the field,
including .444 from beyond the arc, and led the team with 10 assists for the week.
Jordan Gutierrez, Western New Mexico, continues her scoring ways as she led the team with 32 points for
the week, making 41 percent from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out 10 assists and tallied four
steals. She went for a high of 23 points against UT Permian Basin, making 7-14 from the field and 8-9 at the foul
line. She had five assists in both games and two steals in each contest.
Jenna Price, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was all over the map for the Lions in their two games last
week, pulling down rebounds and getting buckets or getting to the foul line. She averaged 15.5 points and
10 rebounds per game last week while shooting over 50 percent from the field. She scored 19 points and
pulled down five offensive rebounds in a win against Midwestern State. She followed that with a double-double
performance with 12 points and 13 rebounds in a narrow loss to Cameron. Price is nearly averaging a double-
double in conference play, with 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds. Price is third in the conference in rebounding and
second in free throw percentage, shooting 81 percent from the charity stripe.
Kaylin Roher, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, posted a new career-high in points and three-pointers made
Thursday... the senior’s 26 points, 18 coming from three-point range.
Maddison Wild, West Texas A&M University, paced the Lady Buffs in a pair of critical road wins at Eastern
New Mexico and at Western New Mexico this week. Wild went 11 of 17 from the field (.647), 1 of 3 from range
(.333) and a perfect 5 of 5 from the line. She averaged 4.5 rebounds per game with four assists and one steal,
along with two blocks to average 14.0 points per game...She posted two double figure games, including a game-
high 18 points on 8 of 10 from the field in a 62-52 win over league-leading and league-unbeaten No. 17 Eastern
New Mexico and added 10 points at WNMU. She has 12 double-digit scoring games this season and the eight
makes against ENMU tied her season-high this year.
Madi Greenwood, Angelo State University, led the Belles to a 2-0 record with a 12.5 scoring average. The
junior scored 13 and 12 against TAMUK and TWU. She hit 42.9 percent from the 3-point line and made 53.3
percent from the field. The Derby, Kansas native recorded four steals and two assists in the two games.
Daeshi McCants, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong performance last week for the
Greyhounds in games against West Texas A&M and University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Although the
contest against WT was a defensive struggle, McCants came within one point of her fourth double double of

the season with nine points, 10 rebounds, and an assist. Her 10 rebounds helped contribute to a 14-4 edge in
second chance points in the game. McCants contributed 14 points and shot .500 from the floor in an 81-56 win
over the Falcons.
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, helped the Belles on the defensive end to go 2-0 last week. The
senior recorded her third double-double of the season against TWU with 14 points and a season high 12
rebounds. She averaged 8.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 blocks per game. ASU limited opponents to 68.0 points
per game in the two wins.
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, continued to provide a strong defensive effort for Tarleton as
the sophomore led the team with 19 rebounds over the last two games and two blocks. She recorded a double-
double performance against Midwestern State Saturday with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Khala Riley, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had eight steals last week, including five in the Lions’ win over
Midwestern State to go along with seven rebounds. She averaged five rebounds and 5.5 assists to go along with
9.5 points in the two games. Riley is in the top 15 in nearly every statistical category this season. She is 13th in
scoring, 13th in rebounding, 7th in free throw percentage, tied for first in assists per game, tied for 7th in steals
and third in minutes per game.
Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, pulled down eight rebounds against both Texas A&M-Kingsville
and Angelo State. The senior forward scored in double-digits each game with 14 and 10 points, respectively,
and shot over 57-percent from beyond the three-point line. Spector also dished out five assists and recorded
two steals and a block.
Megan Looney, Western New Mexico, had a team-high 12 rebounds, nine on the defensive end and three
blocks. She also added 12 points and shot 56 percent from the field. Her top game was against UT Permian
Basin scoring eight points, with six rebounds and three blocks in 20 minutes. She made 5-9 from the field
combined in the two games.
Johna McClelland, Eastern New Mexico University, blocked five shots last week to lead a strong defensive
performance. The Greyhound defense limited the opposition to just 59.0 points per game in contests against
West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin. The Lady Buffs entered Thursday’s game ranked first in the LSC in
three-point percentage, but were limited to just four treys and a .267 percentage from long range. McClelland
blocked a pair of shots in that game and pulled down seven of her 11 rebounds from the defensive glass. On
Saturday, McClelland and the Hounds limited UTPB to .262 from the field. She contributed three blocked shots,
six rebounds and hit four of her five shots for nine points.

Angelo State
The Belles improved to 16-2 overall and 10-2 in the LSC ... Jasmine Prophet recorded her third double-double
of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds against TWU ... ASU shot 51.6-percent in the win and makes 44.7
percent from the field on the season ... Taylor Dorsey is second in the LSC in scoring at 17.7 points per game
... ASU averages 81.1 points per game and holds teams to 65.9 points this season ... The 81.1 points per game
is on pace to set the Angelo State record for points per game in a single season ... ASU will host Cameron and
Midwestern State this week at Stephens Arena inside the Junell Center.
Cameron
The Cameron women went 2-0 last week, taking down Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. In the 81-72
win over the TexAnns, CU shot over 47 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from three-point range. They
also hit 14-17 from the free throw line, and had four players score in double figures. Jamie Bonnarens led the
way with 18 points, while Savanna James chipped in 16 points, Natalie Halbleib had 13, and Brittany Hill had
12. Against the Lions, Cameron turned 13 steals into 27 points off turnovers in the 96-94 victory. Halbleib
had a double-double with a career high 26 points and 11 rebounds, while recording six of the Aggies steals.
Bonnarens had another stellar night, going for 22 points, with 14 of those coming in the second half.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team entered last week’s games receiving votes in the WBCA poll.
On Thursday, Eastern dropped a defensive struggle to West Texas A&M, to snap their 10-game LSC win streak.
The Hounds bounced back on Saturday and never trailed, en-route to an 81-56 win over UT Permian Basin. This
week, the Greyhounds will hit the road for games against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State suffered two defeats inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum last weekend with a 69-64 setback to Texas
A&M-Commerce and a 69-57 loss to rival Tarleton State. Senior forward Jennifer Arbuckle led the Mustangs
with 12.5 points per game, shooting 60 percent from the floor while junior guard Kristin Rydell also averaged
double figures with 10 points. The Mustangs begin a four-game road stretch Thursday with a 5:15 p.m. tipoff
against Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Steinke Center in Kingsville. MSU concludes the week with a 2 p.m. matchup
Saturday against Angelo State at the Junell Center in San Angelo.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 1-1 on last week’s road trip, earning a win over Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. The TexAnns
will return home this week to host the New Mexico side of the conference, beginning with Eastern New Mexico
at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions split their two games last week. They defeated Midwestern State 69-64 on the road Thursday and lost
96-94 at Cameron. The Lions are 8-4 in conference play, tied for third. They return home for a five-game home
stand, starting with Western New Mexico on Thursday and league-leading Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
The Lions are second in the nation in free throws made and fourth in free throw attempts. They lead the
conference in total rebounding and offensive rebounding, are third in scoring and third in turnover ratio.

Texas A&M-Kingsville
Kaylin Roher scored a career-high 26 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range in the 65-64 loss
at TWU... prior to that, the Hogs hosted No. 15 Angelo State Tuesday and fell to the Rambelles 70-63... the
Javelinas are 9-9 in 2016-17.
Texas Woman’s
The Pioneers held on for a 65-64 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday before dropping an 81-73 decision
against Angelo State Saturday.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin ended the week 2-1, picking up a road win at Western New Mexico and a home victory
against Arlington Baptist. Sierra LaGrande had a big week for the Falcons, hitting 15-21 from 3-point range to
lead UTPB with 17.7 points per game on the week.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs snapped a two-game losing skid and handed Eastern New Mexico its first conference loss of the
season with a 62-52 win in Portales, N.M., Thursday...With the win, WT avoided its first three-game LSC losing
skid since the 2012-13 season and then won 72-52 at Western New Mexico on Saturday...The Lady Buffs sit
three games back of ENMU with eight to play...WT used stingy defense for the two wins as it allowed just 52
points per game and ENMU and WNMU shot just .322 from the field...WT outrebounded the opposition 35.5-
32.5 and averaged 67 points in the two wins...Offensively, WT shot .476 from the field, but was just .310 from
beyond the arc (9-29) and 27 of 39 from the line (.692)...The Lady Buffs had just 21 turnovers in the two games
with a season-low seven at ENMU...Senior Maddison Wild paced the team averaging 14.0 points per game as
she was 11 of 17 from the field with a triple and 5 of 5 from the line...Junior Madison Parker averaged 11 points
and six rebounds with career-bests against ENMU including 8 of 12 from the free throw line and a career-best
17 points against the Greyhounds...Junior Cece Wooten averaged a team-high 6.5 rebounds off the bench,
including a career-best 11 rebounds at Western New Mexico as she narrowly missed a double-double by one
point...The Lady Buffs finish their five-game road trip Tuesday at UT Permian Basin, before returning home to
face Texas Woman’s Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First United Bank Center...It will be the first home game for WT
since Jan. 14...WT will be looking to avenge an early season loss to TWU on Saturday.
Western New Mexico
The Lady Mustangs regrouped from a hot-shooting Falcon team to play a tough game against West Texas
A&M. WNMU kept things close throughout the first half before the Lady Buffs were able to pull away. Jordan
Gutierrez and Jade Botelho each paced the offense, while Megan Looney was strong on the defensive end.
Gutierrez continues her scoring ways as she led the team with 32 points, making 41 percent from the field,
grabbed eight rebounds, dished out 10 assists and tallied four steals. She went for a high of 23 points against UT
Permian Basin, making 7-14 from the field and 8-9 at the foul line. She had five assists in both games and two
steals in each contest. Looney had a team-high 12 rebounds, nine on the defensive end and three blocks. She
also added 12 points and shot 56 percent from the field. Her top game was against UT Permian Basin scoring
eight points, with six rebounds and three blocks in 20 minutes. She made 5-9 from the field combined in the
two games.
