3. Preparation
Add the chromosomes – 1 yellow string and 1 red string
(note – there are more than this, but for explanation purposes, we shall
keep it simple)
5. INTERPHASE
The cell remains in this phase as it carries out normal life processes.
DNA is replicated before the division process begins. Chromosomes
change to sister chromatids at the end of this phase.
6. PROPHASE
Sister Chromatids are present. Centrioles appear and begin to move to
opposite ends of cell. Spindle fibers form between the poles.
10. CYTOKINESIS
The rest of the cell contents divided between 2 daughter cells. Cell
membrane moves inward to create two cells, each with its own nucleus
and identical chromosomes.
11. New cell is formed and the process begins again.
