We are all mobile learners. It's in our DNA. If you have access to a mobile device, to confine your learning to a classroom, online course or exhibition hall is to go against the very nature of how you learn. Knowing has never been a static process, but only now are we starting to connect the potential of mobile technology with our natural propensity for dynamic, responsive and viral learning. As ownership and usage of technology rise sky high and expectations for the content it delivers rise with it - faster, smarter, effortless, social - has e-learning kept up? Or is it simply cramming itself into the 4" format when it should be reinventing itself accordingly? • What lessons from the past can we take into future of learning design? • What are the gaps in the current approach to designing learning for mobile? • What will be the radical designs that tap into the best of mobile technology and help us fulfill our potential as mobile learners?

Are you starting a 4.5 migration? Do you have projects pending that haven't been migrated? Have you done your migration estimates? Is there a customer breathing down your neck? Are you afraid? We feel your pain - that's why we'd like to share our migration experiences: our ups and downs, our dead ends as well as the heureka moments. You have to earn your migration - it's hard work without pixies and magic elves involved... Fortunately, when we started out with the Magnolia Migration Module 1.2, we didn't feel like Indiana Jones in a deadly maze anymore. Thanks to the Magnolia team working on the Migration Module and the great cooperation between them and us, we were successful - and you can succeed, too!

In this farsighted and engaging presentation session, two total learning experts from Brightwave look at the future of the L&D function and the new skills and roles required by its rapid evolution. First, Brightwave's Head of Learning Design Caroline Freeman explores the trends and changes affecting L&D's evolution, with a focus on three specific new competencies: • Curation • Coaching • Organisational change management • Community management for social learning Community Engagement Coordinator Steph Bright then takes over for a further brief presentation aimed at developing knowledge and skills in the emerging field of community management, including: • Establishing common bonds • Setting group rituals and expectations • Tactics for driving learner engagement This presentation was originally delivered at Capita Knowledge Pool's Learning Discoveries Club social learning day, on Monday May 11th 2015.
