2. Proposal
I have chose to rebrand channel 4 for my project. Channel 4’s Target Audience is Male and
female viewers between the ages of 14+. This is because it shows programs such as Simpson’s
for younger people around the age, but also programs such as "Big Brother" and "Dispatches".
I feel that the logo appeals to the target audience because of the 3D illusion that is given by
the logo gives it a modern style and also allows them to mess around with it, for example
being about to set up a real life scene and super impose object to give the illusion of the
channel 4 logo.
I have come up with three different ideas for the new ident’s. The first idea, is for a distorted
kind of theme in which the channel 4 logo, starts to become distorted and then becomes
completely distorted and then reveal parts of the next program. I feel that this gives channel a
very kind of modern theme which helps attract people who live in a modern lifestyle. My
second idea was to have a series of different background for the channel 4 logo and a different
background each week, this will allow channel 4 to express there multiculturalism. The third
idea is to have a time bomb-like countdown counting down through numbers until only four is
left, it then zooms into the number four. The digit four will then be the new logo. I feel that this
creates a new, fast paced theme to channel four and is a different identity to the original
relaxed theme of channel four.
The original channel four adverts have inspired me to come up with the ideas for my
ident’s, for example, the channel four logo in different places around the world and also the
theme of big brother. I also got my ideas from animation clips off music videos and
adverts, this is why all of my ident's need animation.
3. The Channel 4 Logo
This is the Channel 4 logo. I think that this
logo is suitable for my ident as it has
become recognized throughout the
country and believe that with this shape
there are many interesting ideas that I can
come up with for my ident.
12. The Narrative for my ident is to show a normal 4
logo, then for the logo to become distorted, showing
other footage and pictures. While this is
happening, glitches will show what is coming on
next on the channel. For example I will add sections
of a Simpson's picture to show that Simpson's are
coming on next, but show the picture as if it is an
accident that its being shown.
