History of Search
 The creation of the WorldWide Web in the 90’s led to the
rapid increase in websites and information on the internet.
This created a need for search engines to be added like bing
or Google.
 Between December 1999 and December 2000, the amount of
websites on the Internet increased from 9.5 million to over 25
million (BBC 2002)
 Currently there are over 600 million sites on the web
(Pingdom 2012)
The NeedTo Categorize
 1998 Google created web searches
for viewers to find sites more
accurately using keywords
 People use keywords to increase
the probability of their site coming
up in search results
 The result: people learned to
monetize through keyword
advertising
