I decided to incorporate another actress last minute as I felt my music video needed another edge
to keep my audience enticed. For my first draft it was solely based around Erin in the bath and
based around the water footage, whereas when incorporating Lottie as her younger self in the
video, has given it more of a structure but still kept it abstract. Feedback from my first draft showed
that although people liked it, it got repetitive. That is when I had the idea to incorporate a black and
white flashback to the character’s childhood. Also, the fact that Lottie has similar features to Erin
creates continuity between both eras and it doesn’t stick out that they aren’t in fact related at all.
The minimal use of product and airbrushing meant I could keep the rawness of both characters and
therefore make them look similar.
**UPDATED SINCE 15/03/15 SHOOT** For the shoot I did, I got Lottie to play like she normally
would have done without a camera in front of her. I got some footage of her planting seeds,
jumping on the trampoline, climbing on wooden frames and generally running around. This created
a natural piece of footage that can be edited to show Erin’s younger and more light-hearted,
spirited years. The whole video being about battling whatever issues one person may have at a time
in their life and doing everything possible to break free.
