The key to success is a good exercise program combined with proper nutrition!
I'm in the best shape of my life.... 38 years old, 6′ 1″ tall, 191 lbs., and down from 26% to 14.8% body
fat. P90x & P90X2 are THE reasons I’ve dropped from a 36-bordering-on-38 waist to a 32. Beachbody has
given me a new life and taken it in a drastically different and rewarding direction.
I was pretty active & thin as a teenager. As slim as I was, I never considered myself "fit". As the years went
on, and my activity level decreased, the weight drastically increased. From age 21 to the age of 35, I went
from 180 lbs. to a whopping 240 lbs. (that's what I weighed in the picture above).
I made a commitment to change my life and get fit in 2010, after a visit to my doctor for an annual
physical. I was informed that I had high blood pressure and I would have to go on medication to keep it
properly regulated. After the results of my blood work came back, the doctor informed me that not only
did I have high blood pressure, but I was border line diabetic and my cholesterol levels were through the
roof and therefore would have to take more pills! I quickly began telling him I didn't want to take all this
stuff and asked what my options were? His response was simply "diet & exercise!" The conversation ended
with him telling me that if I didn't make a serious effort to get my health in order, it was going to only
deteriorate further and there was nothing he was going to be able to do for me... There was something
about that conversation that "stuck" and truly hit home for me.
At that point, I decided I was going to join a gym. I worked out on and off about 3 times per week for
about 6 months. I saw some results, I lost some weight, but I was lacking the motivation I needed to
continue. I knew I needed to make a change to help keep me focused.
2. I started working out with my brother-in-law, Vince, in the basement of his home. With his
competitiveness and push-harder mentality, I got the motivation and focus I needed. There were plenty of
days where we left it all and then some on the floor of his basement gym! In the summer of 2011, I moved
about 1.5 hours away from where he lives, there went the workout sessions...
In November of 2011, a very dear friend, Lily, asked me if I wanted to try P90X! I had heard about P90X
but initially shrugged it off as another "home workout video" infomercial that promised results in just
minutes a day but would never work. WOW, was I wrong!!! I was hooked from day 1.... I had that weak
kneed feeling that I never expected in a home workout. I quickly realized that I was getting a more
efficient workout following P90X than I was at the gym . I completed the 90 day program and it delivered
the results as promised! In March of 2012, I started P90X2 in combination with getting serious about
nutrition and drinking Shakeology everyday. Shakeology is a staple in my nutrition plan. It is one of the
key ingredients that helped me take it to the next level.
Soon after beginning P90X2, I decided to become a Team Beachbody coach and pay it forward. Since
then, I have gotten P90X certified and will soon be going after NASM certification.
Was it easy to get from where I started to where I am now? No– P90X & P90X2 pushed me to my limits
and sometimes beyond.
I’m not telling you any of this to brag in any way and say "look at me, look what I did"… I’m posting this to
say “Look what YOU can do” with dedication to P90X, P90X2 or any one of Beachbody’s great
programs. If you want to, you can really make a dramatic change in your life both physically and mentally.
