2. ABOUT LONGOBARD PROJECT
The new International Cultural Multi-Club Project "Inner Wheel on the footsteps of
Longobards in Europe" - promoted by the Clubs of Benevento (D. 210), Brescia Sud
(D. 206), Torino Europea (D. 204) - wants to involve, on a voluntary basis, other Inner
Wheel Clubs in Italy and Europe, interested in sharing knowledge, frequentation,
exchanges at European level, around the Longobard history and culture. Among the
main objectives, certainly the «Interculturality» and the «International
Understanding».
Through the International Directory and the Database it will be important to identify
the Clubs that are placed in the European geo-cultural corridor of Longobardia;
invite these Clubs to enter the Project, committing ourselves, (however, to ensure that
in each area there will be at least an IW Club); trace the corridor with all the Clubs
that adhere to the Project. The Countries concerned are: Sweden, Germany, Austria,
Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Italy.
Various the possible cultural initiatives and services: multiple Club contacts,
twinning, event organization (conferences, artistic itineraries, book presentations,
multimedia products, exhibitions), restorations, bursaries.
Duration of the international project 5 years (from 2011 to 2016, renewable for a
second five-year period until 2021).
Finally, an interesting and unifying organization could be a LONGOBARDS RALLY,
involving all the European countries concerned, as a one off event, at a chance as a
celebrative manifestation at the end of the five years.
