The International Women's Day
(International Day of Women's Rights) was
established just in 1977 by the UN.
It has its origin in the protests of women in
the early twentieth century in Europe and
the US.
They were struggling for equal rights,
better working conditions and the right to
vote.

4. FEMINISM
The word "feminism" first appeared in the
late 19th century.
As a social movement, feminism largely
focused on the reduction or elimination of
racial inequality and promotion of the
rights and interests of the women.
5. The Women's Liberation Movement
appeared in France and the Netherlands
in 1872.
In Great Britain in 1890.
In the US in 1910.

movement today
The struggle against violence and women
trafficking.
The fight for equality at work and against
sexual harassment.
The struggle to reconcile professional and
family responsibilities for both genders.
The struggle for equality in political
participation.

organizations and movements.
The struggle against sexism in media .
The struggle for equality between local and
migrant women.
The fight against poverty and unemployment
among women.

The first steps were realized after the
decade of 1860.
The right of women to vote and be elected
was established by law in 1952.
