15. Resources
OpenSimulator – Download and Install on a PC
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Download
1. Download the .zip file under the Current Release
2. Unzip, open the Bin folder, and Run Opensim.exe
3. A console window opens. Let it run. It pauses in a few minutes.
4. For most questions, use the default (enter key) except
1. Add a region name, an estate name, & if you do not want to be
Test User, a Name and Last Name. Add a simple password.
5. In your Opensim version of Firestorm, Singularity or your favorite
Third Party Viewer, log into Localhost:9000
6. You begin as Ruth, a starting avatar.
7. Download an .oar (a region with terrain & content)
16. Resources: OARs for your Opensim Region
• OARs are entire regions of shopping malls and scenes.
• After an Oar (or .tgz) loads, you can shop and customize your avatar.
• Zadaroo
– OARS: http://zadaroo.com/?page_id=1588 in .tgz format (zipped)
– Scroll down to see images and ratings; download the Welcome Center.
– Welcome Center http://zadaroo.com/?page_id=1687 is 6MB
• Save the .tgz or .oar file in your OpensimBin folder
– Use the Load oar [filename] command in your console
– Archive Commands http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Server_Commands
• To load this oar, type => Load oar WelcomeCenter.tgz
– Watch it load a few assets at a time. If you are online, fly up and watch.
• Visit your new region. OARs replace the current region.
• IARs are a folder in an inventory.

18. Set up a Trivia Game
1) Create a set of pictures with your trivia questions.
2). You can use PowerPoint, Save As .jpg or .png, all slides.
3) Rename Slide1-Slide9 to Slide01, Slide02, etc.
Otherwise, the order is Slide1, Slide10, Slide11, Slide2
4) Create a notecard - name it 'trivia'
5) In your notecard, put the name of each trivia picture, followed
by ~ and then the answer, like this:
Slide01
Slide02~SLMOOC
Slide03~Lyr Lobo
Note: do not add a blank space after the answer and match the
notecard slide list with the # of slides in your viewer
19. How to Play the Trivia Game
1. To play, drag the viewer from your inventory to the ground (rez it).
2. It will tell you it is loaded in the chat log.
3. Click on it.
4. When you get to a slide with a question, ask if anyone has the answer.
5. Answers can be upper or small case - it does not matter.
6. Once someone gets an answer -- or if nobody can figure one out - click on
it again to move to the next picture.
7. The players who guess correctly, but are not the first to get the answer see
an instant message that lets them know that they were correct, but not
first.
8. The viewer will automatically keep track of the scores as you go.
9. When you click on the last picture, it will report all the scores to the chat
log.
20. Advanced Trivia Game Setup Tip
1. If you are feeling brave, you can go into the script and change the line that
says "integer public_scores = 0;" to "integer public_scores = 1;"
2. If you do, the scores will be reported to everyone.
3. If you don't do this, everyone will be told their own score, but only the
owner will see all of them.
4. Usage tips: the players need to sit within 20 meters of the trivia viewer.
5. If out of range, the viewer will not be able to “listen” to what the players
type.
6. Add your questions on the slides or ask them during your talk.
Have fun!
