Attila Ambrus was a famous criminal from Hungary nicknamed the "Whiskey Robber" and "Gentleman Bandit". He was born in 1967 and originally played professional ice hockey but later became a thief, committing 29 bank, post office, and travel agency robberies between 1993 and 1999. Though a criminal, he was beloved by many Hungarians who saw him as a folk hero redistributing wealth from corrupt authorities, as he treated victims politely and had a drink at a bar before each heist.
