5. Customer Review #2 “I have used C.O. Bigelow (Proraso), The Art of Shaving, and Van derHaages shave soaps but find Colonel Conk the best for it's buck. I love Proraso and TAOS but I can't justify the price tag or the fact that it doesn't last beyond a few weeks. Van derHaage is great, but doesn't have the luxury feel of the former. Col. Conk is a great compromise. It lathers just as well as Proraso or TOAS, whereas I had trouble with VDH to get thick, fluffy lather. Mixed with a little pre-shave (Southern California's hard water zaps my lather flat), this soap works well with my old school razor. “

It is the only shaving soap I've gotten to use so far after switching from regular shaving cream, but I'll have to say... I'm now a shaving soap/badger brush man for life. This soap lubricates your face much better than traditional shaving cream, it smells great (I chose the Bay Rum version), and for some reason I swear my skin has been better since I've started using it. I haven't gotten ANY blackheads on my chin, where I use to get them here and there occasionally.”
