INTRODUCTION
 Energy is major input for overall socio-economic
    development of any society.

 Coal, gas and oil will not be three kings of the world
    forever.

 So we develop renewable sources as replacement,
at present Solar energy is the fast growing renewable.

 Molten salt technology based solar plant is better
    replacement .

 This Technology is cheaper,economical and eco-friendly
    compare to all other.

                    MADHU & RAJESH
WHAT IS MOLTEN SALT ?
 Molten salt generally Refers Melted salt.

 This fluid(salt-water) have good heat capacity.

 We can attain red heat (>801°c ).

 Easy phase chngining capability.

 Mixture of sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate presently
used as molten salt in commercial plants.

                    MADHU & RAJESH
FUNCTIONAL MODEL

     MADHU & RAJESH
MOLTEN SALT SYSTEM

      MADHU & RAJESH
MOLTEN SALT SYSTEM
 Mixture of nitrate salts heated in tubes up to 565°c
    Returns to hot storage tank.

 Hot salt fluid pumped for generating purposes.

 The salt at 265°c returns to cold storage tanks used in
    Rankin cycle again.

 Tubes in receiver designed to Absorbs 95% of the
    incidence of sun light.

 Total molten salt loop designed <2500 feet which is
    heat traced to prevent freezing.

                    MADHU & RAJESH
COMPARE TO OTHER
OTHER STORAGE MEDIUMS:
 Stone is lot cheaper, but ability to store the heat is less.

 Graphite and ceramic are more expensive mediums.

 PV panels are presently used in commercial plants are
    relatively high cost.

 Using of PV panels increases capital cost of plant.

 For those reasons we adopt molten salt system.

                    MADHU & RAJESH
COMPARE TO OTHER

ENERGY STORAGE & OUTPUT IN THE DAY
       OF MOLTEN SALT SYSTEM

           MADHU & RAJESH
COMPARE TO OTHER
COST AND ECONOMICAL BASIS:
 Primary advantage of this system is we can attain 98%
    of thermal efficiency.

 For identical scale generation(800MWht)will cost around
    US$44/KWht.

 This is cheap compare to all other Storage Mediums.

 The latest progress in this systems is we can capture
    1MWht of thermal energy(largest).

                    MADHU & RAJESH
ECO-FRIENDLY NATURE

 Molten salt is non-toxic, non-flammable energy
    storage medium.
 We can reduce atmospheric CO2 Emissions by more
30,000 tons for 110GWH/year power generation.
 We can also increase plant efficiency 1.5 to 3 times
    compare to other renewable Eco-friendly.
 Gema solar plant in Spain is the first commercial
    plant using this technology.

                MADHU & RAJESH
IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA

     SOLAR RESOURCE MAP IN INDIA

           MADHU & RAJESH
IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA
 Presently India gets 65% Of it’s energy from thermal
plants and <1% from solar energy.

 Day to day increasing cost of coal it is burden to the
    electric sector.

 With the use of this technology in solar plants burden on
    electric sector should be reduced.

 Main problem in India is Governments are lack of
interest to develop this type of alternatives.

                     MADHU & RAJESH
CONCLUSION
 As our demand for electrical power grows, it becomes
increasingly urgent to find new alternatives.

 In the past, the limiting factors of renewable energy
have been the storage and transport of that energy.

 In spite of above advantages molten salt based solar
plants are better alternative at present.
