3. Gaiman is a small town of Chubut, this town is in a valley.
It’s 40 kilometers away from the capital city.
Gaiman was founded
in 1874, and now it has
about 7000 inhabitants.
4. This town has an interesting history. The 28th of July 1865 the
Welsh reached the province and Gaiman was founded in 1885,
but before this place was occupied by Tehuelches.
The Tehuelches were
nomads and hunters.
They ate wild llamas,
american rheas and its
eggs, and collected some
fruits.
They wore skins of wild
llamas.
5. They lived in tents, and they moved those tents depending on
the climate. The tents were made of wild llama skins sewn with
american rhea tendons.
They lived in groups, and every group had a leader: the
cacique. The men did the hunting and the women cared for the
children and did domestic work.
6. The 28th july 1865 the welsh arrived to Chubut in the sailboat
Mimosa. They came from Wales looking for a place to live in
peace and restart their lifes.

7. The plants are specially adapted to the arid climate of
the area, they have thorns and small leaves, like the
coirón, jarilla, zampa, jume and other little bushes.
8. Some of the animals in the area are guanacos (Lama
guanicoe), piches (Zaedyus pichiy), skunks(Conepatus
humboldtii), cuises (Microcavia australis), codornices
(Coturnix coturnix), teros (Vanellus chilensis), choiques
(Rhea americana), maras (Dolichotis patagonum), lizards,
foxes (Conepatus humboldtii) and more.
9. The most important natural resource is the fine fruit for
export. Some of this fruits are cherries, strawberries and
raspberries.
This fruits also are used for marmelades production.
10. The most popular attractions of Gaiman are the Welsh
Regional Museum, the Antropologic Museum, the First
house of Gaiman, the Ex railroad tunnel, the Geopark
Bryn Gwyn and El Desafío Park.
