Over 50 and ‘Unemployable’ and Too Young To Retire
by maggieowens | on February 26, 2013

                                              I just
readand article by CNNMoney: “Workers Over 50 Are
                The New ‘Unemployable’.
I will be 57 tomorrow and I lost my job January 9, 2011 after 28 years of service with that company. I have
had only 2 jobs my whole career. The first one was for 10 years.

So it’s not as if I am unreliable or don’t know how to do my job, otherwise these companies would not have
kept me around for as long as they did.

I found this article very interesting and found myself relating to it. Here is what some over 50 had to say:

“Once you leave the job market, trying to get back in it is a monster,” said Mary
Clair Matthews, 58, who has teetered between bouts of unemployment and short temp
jobs for the last five years.
Take Jill Cummings, 55, who has thought about dying her gray hair to improve her
chances of landing a job. Then there’s Tony Kash, 50, who wonders why his 30 years
experience in manufacturing and management is no match for 25-year-olds fresh out
of college with business degrees.

According to the Labor Department, the average length of unemployment for those 55 and older is about 11
months. That’s on average 3 months longer than those that are between the ages of 25 and 36.

There are many that believe not being able to get a job has to do with the economy, but there are also many
that believe age is a factor.

Unless someone actually comes right out and tells you that you are too old, it is next to impossible to prove
discrimination.

“When there’s a large supply of unemployed workers, employers can afford to be
choosier, and they’re opting for workers they think are less expensive or more
recently trained,” said Sara Rix, senior strategic policy advisor for AARP’s Public
Policy Institute.
That’s a hard reality for older job-seekers. “When you’re at 55 or 60, you’ve had a
lifetime of work. You’ve played by the rules, and the rug has been pulled out from
you,” Rix added.

To anyone out there that has found them self in a position of being unemployed
or even unemployable, DO NOT give up. There is an answer.

The answer is The Empower Network. This is where I have found my home and
I am able to work from the comfort of my home or wherever in the world I
choose to be at that particular moment in time.
Join thousand of others that are making ridiculous amounts of money every month and sometimes every day.
However, I just need to tell you that the results are up to you. Ridiculous amounts of money is not guaranteed.
You have to be willing to do the work.

It is only $25 to start. I believe that those of us over 50 andunemployable have
found ourselves in that position for a reason. If you are anything like me, you
have worked your tail off all your life. You went over and above what was asked
of you and then some.
There were times I worked double and triple shifts. I worked days in a row not
having a day off for weeks when needed. Isn’t it time that we live the life we
deserve. Click on this orange button and lets meet on the beaches of the world.

Once you join you will become part of The Rebel Marketers team. One of the most awesome groups around
where age does not matter. We support each other, help each other and guide each other.

You don’t have to worry about what to blog about when you join the Rebel
