Collaboration in the Digital Classroom is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at collaboration with a focus on online collaborative tools. In this course, teachers see how collaboration helps students develop 21st century thinking skills, deepen content understanding, and prepare them for the global world. Teachers learn how to plan and manage collaboration activities that integrate online collaborative tools increasingly part of our globally connected workplaces. They follow two teachers as they implement collaborative experiences in their classrooms. The course offers opportunities to apply the collaboration concepts with action planning exercises.

In this course, teachers see how assessment strategies can benefit their teaching practices and their students’ learning. They learn how to plan, develop, and manage student-centered assessment. Action planning exercises offer opportunities to apply the assessment concepts.
Module 1: 21st Century Learning Consider the 21st century skills students need to excel in a changing world. See what assessment looks like in 21st century classrooms and how 21st century skills are assessed. Module 2: Assessment Strategies Learn how assessment purposes define assessment practice and how different methods and instruments meet those purposes. Project-Based Approaches helps teachers improve their understanding and application of project-based learning in their classrooms. This course is for teachers who are new to project-based approaches – and teachers who are experienced with project-based approaches find it equally helpful.

Educational Leadership in the 21st Century provides an interactive e-learning experience to support the face-to-face Leadership Forum. In this course, participants explore and discuss school leadership in our students’ technological 21st century world. School leaders explore examples of best practices, examine leadership behaviors, and develop strategies to better support their teachers. They follow two administrators who work together to better use technology to support teachers and improve student achievement. Participants discuss ideas and strategies with other leaders in the course and apply them to their own practice. Extension activities provide opportunities to explore more in depth topics of interest. Key outcomes include the following: Understand the characteristics of a visionary leader: Participants will explore best practices in supporting 21 st century education. Explore collaboration tools: Participants will learn strategies to enhance collaborations among colleagues, teachers, and students, while using available technology tools Investigate trends in education: Participants will explore current trends in mobile learning, e–learning, and e-books.
This course is set up with three modules. Minimum Requirements: It takes about 4.5 hours to complete the first two modules in a facilitated course. Extension Activities: Some activities within Modules 1 and 2, and all of Module 3 can be completed independently or as part of an extended, facilitated course. Action Notebook: Completing Action Notebook extension activities will add additional time to the course. Facilitated Discussions: Participants share ideas with other leaders and give feedback to peers. Completing optional extension discussions or adding time to the minimum discussion requirements will add additional time to the course. Delivery Method: If some of the online content is completed outside of the face-to-face facilitated course, actual completion time may vary.
Some things you will want to note include the following: (Presenter should note on slide) Each course has an “orientation” A megaphone icon will appear on the screen on some pages – indicating that this specific slide has audio Rollovers: These allow the participants to “dig deeper” for more learning and examples. Navigation Tools are provided at the bottom of the screen and course materials are at the top. Presenter should highlight for the participants in this webinar learning. Navigation – course progress, menus to allow skipping to where needed, audio/replay, and next/back and pause (Use pointer) Course materials – Action notebook with checklist after completion of offline activities, Resources that include all downloadable files, glossary of terms/definitions, and even a Help area and about this course. (use Pointer) Like the other courses, you will meet many educators – and two of them, Frank and Gloria from an urban school –guide the learning and share their own “lessons learned.” Gloria Mann, like many of our principals is “under the gun” to improve overall academic achievement. Frank Dewey is a technology leader and works with Gloria to leverage technology to help develop students’ 21 st century skills.
