2. A festival is an event usually staged by a local community, which celebrates some
unique aspect of that community and the Festival.
Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance. The term
comes from a Greek word meaning "action" which is derived from "to do","to
act".
Drama played a major role in the life of societies. Comedies and tragedies are
performed in the city as part of an important civic religious festival.

personal development of our students
4. To participate in a range of drama activities and
to evaluate their own and others' contributions,
pupils should be taught to:
use a variety of dramatic conventions to explore
ideas, issues, texts and meanings;
use different ways to convey action, character,
atmosphere and tension in scripting and
performing plays, eg through dialogue,
movement, pace.
5. The National Drama Festivals Association
(NDFA) was formed in 1964 to encourage and
support amateur theatre in all its forms and in
particular through the organization of drama
festivals in the United Kingdom.
