THE WORLD
?
The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the
first known list of the most remarkable creations
of classical antiquity, and was based on guide-
books popular among Hellenic sight-seers and
only includes works located around the
Mediterranean rim. The number seven was
chosen because the Greeks believeIn the 19th
and early 20th centuries, some writers wrote
about lists with names such as Wonders of the
Middle Ages, Seven Wonders of the Middle
Ages, Seven Wonders of the Medieval Mind,
and Architectural Wonders of the Middle Ages.
However it is unlikely that these lists originated
in the Middle Ages because the word medieval
was not invented until the Enlightenment-era,
and the concept of a Middle Age did not
become popular until the 16th century. Brewer's
Dictionary of Phrase and Fable refers to them

4. GREAT WALL OF CHINA
The wall is not a continuous wall but is a
collection of short walls that often follow
the crest of hills on the south edge of
Mongolian plains .The wall is known as
“long wall of 10,000 Li”in china extends
about 8,850 km or 5,500 miles .the first set

5. PETRA
Petra meaning stone is pronounced in arabic al
batra is situated in Jordan and is a historical and
a archeological city .Famous for rock cut
architecture .It is symbol of Jordan and a tourist
attraction.It is a city full of ancient sites . When
it was introduced by a Swiss explorer Johann
Ludwig Burckhardt it was described as A ROSE
RED CITY HALF AS OLD AS TIME. Petra
was chosen one of the 40 places by BBC as the
40 places you have to see before you die

6. MACCHU PICCHU
Macchu Picchu is a pre columbian 15 century Inca site located 2430 meters
above sea level. Incas start building the state around 1400 AD but abandoned
it as an site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of Spanish conquest

Why would these ancient people build a city at such a high and dangerous
altitude. Why there are just few skeletal remains most of women?

7. CHICHEN ITZA
Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the
northern Maya lowlands from the Late
Classic (c.600–900 AD) through the
Terminal Classic (c.800–900) and into the
early portion of the Early Postclassic
period (c.900–1200). The site exhibits a
multitude of architectural styles,
reminiscent of styles seen in central
Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles
of the northern Maya lowlands. The
presence of central Mexican styles was
once thought to have been representative
of direct migration or even conquest from
central Mexico, but most contemporary
interpretations view the presence of these
non-Maya styles more as the result of
cultural diffusion.

8. COLOSSEUM
The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin:
Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical
amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in
the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman
architecture and Roman engineering. Capable of seating 50,000 spectators,[the
Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as
mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles,
and dramas.

9. TAJ MAHAL
it is known as crown of palaces and was built by emperor Shah Jahan in the
memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It took22 thousand labors and 21 years to
be completeted

10. CHRIST THE REDEEMER
The statue of Christ is situated in Rio De Janeiro,Brazil which is the 5 largest
statue of Jesus. It is 39.6 meters tall and 635 tonnes heavy and made of
concrete; constructed between 1922 and 1931.
