Appropriate Communication Methods
Some of the appropriate communication methods for managers within the Rehabilitation organization are as follows
Telephone Communication : While we all communicate both on a personal and professional level every day, the Telephone communication between those individuals for the purpose of information sharing is considered to be “really time communication” and happens to insure that there is no miss communication of a question, concern or information that is on a need to know status. This in many cases is on a one on one basis, but can also be a mullet-line communication when there is more than one departmental issue or concern that needs to be addressed so that the information can be share one time instead of multiple times that will reduce the amount of miss information.
Electronic Communication : While is not what is considered to be really time it is very important in helping to reduce miss communication in the process of information sharing and changes that may be need. Monthly updates, emails and walks through with the construction supervisor, myself, building inspectors, even Board of Directors members will continue to aide in a complete documentation of the progress not only in writing but to make a visual presentation to those Board members that do not wish to participate in a physical walk through of the construction site and monthly distribution of construction funds will go forward without complications.
Departmental & Organizational Meetings : There is also a need for the open and ongoing communication between each department manager and supervisor so that they are also aware of changes and needs or requests that may be presented by the construction company foreman so that the expansion of the long-term wing is operating under all state and city regulator laws set forth by OSHA. This will also aide in the communication and information passing to be successful and will reduced if not squashed all rumors and misinformation from being passed from one person to another and from one department to another.

Internal relationships must be considered and forested to continue to build strong relationships, based on trust and respect. This will need to be nurtured and protected while new possibilities are being explored for those employees that are key members of the organization. Promotions and cross training of current staff members from each department and at all stages of employment and career levels will be needed.

This will be added with quarterly communication with the remaining staff and departments is the last step in the process on the structural communications and estimated completion date so that the managerial staff member from each department can plan the appropriate training of staff as well as possible promotions for those individuals that show a desire to move or cross train between short-term outpatient services to the long-term inpatient care wing.

What external relationships must be considered?
Architect : There will need to be an extensive amount of communication with the architect in the initial planning stages of gathering information to present to the Board to give them a breakdown of what kind of facilities and space we are looking at and what the overall cost that has been authorized to spend in making the expansion a reality.
Construction Contractors :
This is someone like that will need to have ongoing communication with throughout the process from the activity of bidding for the project to the last finishing nail being put into place. Making sure that you have a good personal communications with this point man or on-sight management level contractor.
Building Inspectors : Will be someone that will be a part of the building process so that the construction is done up to Code and will determine what is or is not safe or whether there will have to be changes before the construction processes will be able to continue. They will also determine whether or not there will be finds incurred if the proper building permits have not been filed.
State and Federal regulatory agencies such as OSHA : These regulations are there for the safety of the workers that will be working on the expansion and will make sure that like the building inspectors every safety measure is being followed and that there are no short cutes being taken that could possible hurt a worker or future patients and employees.
Security Measures : Security measures are a wide reaching area of communication and what you need to stay informed with, as this is not only in in place for the safety of the patient, property to reduce the possible loose of revenue but it is put in place to insure the patients personal privileged information from being lost or stolen.
Building : Alarm system upgrades and updates
Staff : Training and Licensing
Patient : Information and Physical Safety (This also includes the need for the face- to-face technology based training that will need to be implemented as well as all State and Federal guild lines pertaining to HIPAA, to be reviewed by all staff members from Management to general office staff and security.)
Insurance Companies : Making sure that the new facility and the services are added and covered services for the patients as well as making sure all physicians that will be working in the log-term rehabilitation center are covered certified and excepting new clients from private or court-ordered care.
Patients : Will have to have the current staff make sure that current clients, know that there will be a long-term inpatient services wing that will be state of the art as well as being a highly secured facility for the safety and privacy of the patients, that will or be treated.

The steps involved in organizational planning and functions of management
With the expansion for a 150 beds made up of private and semi-private rooms, a counseling center, individual and group, physical therapy and an in house rotating security presence for the safety of the clients and staff. As well as the addition of additional staff for the 24/7 care of the patients. While the initial Board members believe that the training costs may make the care prices raise and the facility will in turn loss revenue it has been a more positive outcome once they Board could physically see the end goal and that if they had cut wanted to funds for hiring and training it would have hurt the facility as a whole and later agreed that it was necessary to hire the appropriate amount of staff.

What steps are used to plan and implement change within the organization?
Show benefit of adding the long term care wing and the need for the addition to the already high traffic center. While the Rehabilitation of the patients on a short-term basis has proven to be positive there has always been a need to extended long-term inpatient and even out-patient care.
In the history of the Mental Health Care and treatments throughout the last several hundred years and the need to continue need for treatment and monitoring of those individuals that suffer from mental illness. We have learned from the past in the changing from a institutionalization based view of the mental ill to the deinstitutionalization of the ill, to a community monitoring and support of those that have mental illnesses. The medical or clinical out-patient treatment and medications that is meant to stabilize the mentally ill. (Austin. A and Wetle, 2012) In looking at the past and the advancements that have been made we must ask ourselves in today's society are we doing enough to treat those suffering from mental illness? Are there enough programs and alternatives to previous generations and treatment solutions for the mentally ill population in America? We should also wonder if there is any truth in the belief that there have been more and more violent acts being blamed on untreated, undiagnosed mental illness?
Depression, just one of the Countries leading Mental Health Concerns
This disease does not discriminate on who it affects from lower-middle class to the rich and famous, depression is emerging as one of the Nations leading cause of Mental illness that not only leads to outward signs , but can kill quietly those that suffer, out of a growing fear of dreed.
Our most resent loss to the Disease of Depression was the hilariously funny man Mr. Robin William;
But he is not the only famous person that has suffered with depression throughout his or her life.
The problem however is like with every major expansion project finding the right people to be a part of this critical new department and daily operation. Being a successful short-term facility it is detrimental to the care of our current and future patients or clients that we have the staff trained to the highest standards and the training can be quick rigorous.
Collaborating with other departments and presenting the work and training schedule within the facility so that each department knows when and if there is going to be any interruption in a specific location as the expansion continues to be completes as well as the need to be on high alert as to who is in the facility so that the patients personal information is kept in a safe a secure location as well as knowing when they will have to relocate temporarily so that the construction does not interfere with the treatment of the out-patient clients.

How might these steps will be applied to the expansion
Hiring : As well as the addition of additional staff for the 24/7 care of the patients, there is going to be a need to Hire new staff members and cross training some existing staff, promotions of team leaders to take on a supervisory or shift managers position.
Training : There will be a need to new classes un report writing and the understanding of new security measures and regulations and personal accountability for all dissections that each employee makes in regards to the long-term in-patient rehabilitation center.
HIPPA Laws both State and Federal : This also includes the need for the face-to-face technology based training that will need to be implemented as well as all State and Federal guild lines pertaining to HIPAA, to be reviewed by all staff members from Management to general office staff and security.
Communication : Which will be set at the highest priority to maintain the expansion between the counseling center, physical therapy and traditional psychotherapy treatment staff as well as the in house rotating security presence for the safety of the clients and staff.

Strategies and methods needed to influence organizational change and to minimize conflict
We all know that with change there is the possibility for conflict knowing how to talk to your staff and communicating your vision for success is one way that you as a manager can reduce stress, and the possibility of conflict.
Keeping an open door policy is another, if there is a conflict with staff members they need to know that they can come to you as a manager or supervisor to ask for your insight or guidance.

Estimated Profit when wing is complete
As originally stated the cost for the project and expansion would be quite costly, but after being finished and established over a period of years the Board of Directors will see a gain in coming revenue. The program will not have a high turn over because this is a long term wing and a minim stay would be approximately one financial quarter or a 120 days. With the 150 bed count the revues for the first several years will go to recover the initial loss of the project but over all will be a significant revenue increase.
