ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON SCHOOL LEARNING ACTION CELL SESSION
(SLAC) ON “ENHANCING TEACHERS’ INSTRUCTIONAL COMPETENCE ON
DISTANCE DELIVERY MODALITIES”
With the transition in the educational system caused by the pandemic, a shift in the
teaching and learning methodologies are also apparent. Different learning modalities were
mapped out in lieu of the usual classroom setting to continually provide quality access to
education.
The Grade 9 teachers continue to uphold their commitment in addressing the learners’
needs.
The SLAC Chairperson, Mrs. Leriza S. Macarubbo, organized an interactive School
Learning Action Cell Session (SLAC) on “ENHANCING TEACHERS’ INSTRUCTIONAL
COMPETENCE ON DISTANCE DELIVERY MODALITIES” last October 8-9, 2020 through
Google Meet and Messenger after the SLAC Proposal was approved and preparations had been
made.
On Day 1, the first session the SLAC Chairperson discussed the rationale and policy
statement and was followed by the lecture on the modular distance learning shared by
Mrs.Veronica Escobar. Thus, there was a revisit to the different learning modalities that use Self-
Learning Modules (SLM)), printed or digital format/electronic copy, based on the most essential
learning competencies (MELCS) provided by DepEd. The modules include sections on
motivation and assessment that serve as a complete guide of both teachers’ and students’ desired
competencies. Writing of modular distance learning strategies ended the day.
Day 2 was a continuation of the activity of the previous day. But the main focus of the
session was on the unpacking the MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES by the
SLAC Chairman. The activity basically aimed to explain how Department of Education
conceptualized the listing of these competencies and how can teachers and learning leaders
ensure the delivery of these across learning modalities. She also gave answers to questions in
relation to how teaching would happen considering this set of learning competencies.
After the discussion on the unpacking of MELCS, with the supervision of the SLAC
Chairperson, the group went about the unpacking and combining the MELCs in order to
systematize learning activities and effectively address the varying needs of learners and the
challenges of instructional deliveries and to prevent redundancy that are visible to repetition of
the lesson which does not show spiral progression.
The group continued accomplishing their expected outputs especially writing their LDM
responsive to learner diversity with the integration of strategies utilizing Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) that are developmentally appropriate and with the inclusion

of the concept in curriculum contextualization which are relevant and suited in the
experiences, interests, and aspirations of the learners.
“The sessions were very productive, and we are thankful for all the learning we gained,”
Mrs. Jesusa Macababbad declared after the two-day session.
The SLAC sessions, facilitated by the SLAC leader, have proven to be effective in
engaging and emerging a group of teachers in collaborating and solving shared challenges.
SLAC sessions encourage critical reflection amongst teachers which increases the understanding
and knowledge of the curriculum and classroom practices and allowed them to become more
inspired, motivated, and equipped and updated with the teaching learning knowledge, strategies
and techniques responsive to the needs of the diverse learners of CNHS especially with the many
challenges in education in the new normal.
Generally, the proponent believes that the SLAC session’s objectives have been met
satisfactorily, and she has high hopes that the sessions ensure best results on the part of the
teacher-participants on instructional competence on distance delivery modalities.

Macarubbo, organized an interactive School Learning Action Cell Session (SLAC) on “ENHANCING TEACHERS’ INSTRUCTIONAL COMPETENCE ON DISTANCE DELIVERY MODALITIES” last October 8-9, 2020 through Google Meet and Messenger after the SLAC Proposal was approved and preparations had been made. On Day 1, the first session the SLAC Chairperson discussed the rationale and policy statement and was followed by the lecture on the modular distance learning shared by Mrs.Veronica Escobar. Thus, there was a revisit to the different learning modalities that use Self- Learning Modules (SLM)), printed or digital format/electronic copy, based on the most essential learning competencies (MELCS) provided by DepEd. The modules include sections on motivation and assessment that serve as a complete guide of both teachers’ and students’ desired competencies. Writing of modular distance learning strategies ended the day. Day 2 was a continuation of the activity of the previous day. But the main focus of the session was on the unpacking the MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES by the SLAC Chairman. The activity basically aimed to explain how Department of Education conceptualized the listing of these competencies and how can teachers and learning leaders ensure the delivery of these across learning modalities. She also gave answers to questions in relation to how teaching would happen considering this set of learning competencies. After the discussion on the unpacking of MELCS, with the supervision of the SLAC Chairperson, the group went about the unpacking and combining the MELCs in order to systematize learning activities and effectively address the varying needs of learners and the challenges of instructional deliveries and to prevent redundancy that are visible to repetition of the lesson which does not show spiral progression. The group continued accomplishing their expected outputs especially writing their LDM responsive to learner diversity with the integration of strategies utilizing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) that are developmentally appropriate and with the inclusion

The SLAC sessions, facilitated by the SLAC leader, have proven to be effective in engaging and emerging a group of teachers in collaborating and solving shared challenges. SLAC sessions encourage critical reflection amongst teachers which increases the understanding and knowledge of the curriculum and classroom practices and allowed them to become more inspired, motivated, and equipped and updated with the teaching learning knowledge, strategies and techniques responsive to the needs of the diverse learners of CNHS especially with the many challenges in education in the new normal. Generally, the proponent believes that the SLAC session’s objectives have been met satisfactorily, and she has high hopes that the sessions ensure best results on the part of the teacher-participants on instructional competence on distance delivery modalities.
