THINGS AROUND US •
There are many things around us. There are two groups of things:
Do you know

things are things that are not alive. • Non-living things don't need water and food.
Water and sun
are non-living things.
A telephone is
non-living thing.
VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES
Animals are divided
into two groups: VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES.
• Vertebrates have
a backbone and a skeleton.
There are five
classes of vertebrates: - MAMMALS - BIRDS - FISH - AMPHIBIANS - REPTILES
INVERTEBRATES don’t have
a skeleton.
Arthropods and molluscs
are invertebrates. A butterfly is an arthropod. A snail is a mollusc.
MAMMALS
Mammals have hair.
Most mammals have
four legs.
Mammals have live
babies. Baby mammals drink their mother's milk.
Mammals breathe with
their lungs.
Mammals have a
skeleton inside. They are vertebrates.
Most mammals live
on land.
Some mammals live

legs, and two antennae.
Some insects have
wings.
Insects lay eggs.
