Water Supply Network
• 30 Reservoirs
• 65.500 m3 storage
• Elevations from 0 to 430 m
• 10 Pressure Zones
• 83 DMAs
• 1.000 Km pipe network
• Average daily water supply 43.800 m3
DMA Design Key Considerations
DMA categories
Small : <1.000 properties
Medium : 1.000 – 3.000 properties
Large : 3.000 – 5.000 properties
Factors considered in DMA design
Minimum variation in ground level
Single entry point into the DMA
Well defined DMA boundaries
Area meters correctly sized and located
Apply pressure management
Continuous monitoring

DMA 921 is divided into 3 smaller DMAs
• DMA 324
• DMA 327
• DMA 328
The division of DMA 921 was planned
in order to improve the operation and
control of the water supply network,
to reduce the pressure and
subsequently leakage.

The house plumping system in Cyprus provides ‘municipal’ water supply in the garden, the
kitchen and the cold water storage tank. Also the cold water storage tank provides water
supply to the house and the solar water heater.
Due to the above complexity and the need of at least 5 data loggers per consumer, the test
could not be performed.

Planned Activities for the next 6 months
The Minimum Night Flow (MNF) is currently very low. Leakage in the DMA is at a very low level and
is considered uneconomic to search for more leaks. The DMA Minimum Night Flow (MNF) is
continuously monitored and if increased, then Activity 2.4 will be applied again.
