2. Direct & Indirect Sales Strategy
Direct sales means going straight to your
customer and selling your product. You can
phone the customer, see her face to face or
even use email.
Direct sale is also known as B2C or
"business to consumer."
3. Direct & Indirect Sales Strategy
A company uses some type of go-between
and does not directly contact the customer. The
go-between could be a reseller, a commissioned
independent sales agency or even another
distributor.
Indirect sale is also known as B2B or
“business to business”
4. Types of Direct sales strategies
Selling at manufactures plant:
• This method is also known as direct selling.
• It is the oldest, cheapest and most convenient
method of distribution.
• Here products are directly sold by the
manufacturers to the consumers.
5. • Door to Door sales:
This is the most unique way of the selling
goods and services. Under this method a sales
agent visits house to house for selling the
products face to face.
• Sale by mail order technique:
In this technique, products are delivered
those mail to the customer by taking their
orders beforehand. The term “mail order” refers
to the purchasing of goods and services via mail
delivery.
6. Indirect distribution channels
• One level channel:
In this type of distribution system there is a
single intermediary between the manufacturer
and consumer. The intermediary used in this
system can be either retailer or a wholesaler.
• Two level channel:
In this channel two types of intermediaries i.e.,
wholesalers and retailers.
7. • Three level channel:
This type of channel involves three types
intermediaries i.e., wholesalers, retailers, distributor.
This channel is used to sell convenience products.
• Four level channel:
Here, four intermediaries are involved to
distribute goods and services. This intermediaries
are distributor, agent, wholesaler and retailer. This
channel is used to sell consumer durable products.
