Making Money From Blogging? What You Need To Know First.
The truth is, making money from blogging is a strategy that some have used to make millions, while others have
failed to make any money at all! If you’ve clicked on any ads that claim how easy it is to create your dream lifestyle by
blogging, then you know what I’m talking about!
Blogging is, in fact, an amazingly powerful way to not only earn an income online, but to build your reputation as an
expert and trusted mentor! However, most people miss the most important element in blogging, which is one of
the greatest factors leading to failure in the average blogger’s quest to become financially independent! What is this
element? Read on…
The Key to Making Money From Blogging…What NOT to Do!

2. Perhaps the best way to explain this is by sharing a story! It’s my story of course, because I think my story of how I’ve
evolved as a blogger and marketer is just like most people’s journeys!
I guess if one is lucky enough, they would either have an uncanny, natural writing and marketing ability, or they made
a connection with an experienced blogging coach who could show them the proper way to blog. Not the case for me!
I had no real writing style (sure, I was comfortable with English grammar), hardly ever wrote anything unless it was
for a college class, and had no idea how to segue a blog post into a call to action to sell something!
I was literally told by a few online marketers to write a few
sentences of “hype” about the product or system I was involved
with at the time and publish a rendition of this hype on a daily
basis to get eyeballs on my offer!
Take a guess at how many loyal readers I had after a month or
two of doing this…yep, a big, fat ZERO!
This was in the Summer of 2013 and let me tell you, it was a long
summer! I think I used the Google blogger platform at the time,
and literally built zero traffic following this formula!
I gave up on the idea and focused on alternative ways of driving
traffic to my offer. Blogging, would just need to be left to those
who could write and persuade! That just wasn’t me!
How I Started Making Money From Blogging…
the Right Way!
Fast forward to Summer of 2014. As I hopped from program to program online, trying to find the secret formula to an
online income, I kept hearing about how more an more people were making really good money blogging. The
testimonials were almost unavoidable.
As much as I believed blogging should be reserved for writers, I couldn’t help wondering how all these people – most
of which said they never blogged in their life before joining this particular system – were hauling in five figures per
month with ease!
So I agreed (with myself) to give this blogging thing one more shot, but not with just any blog platform. I wanted to find
a blog that included the best training, the best chance to grow an income stream, and offer an amazing community
that cared about the success of other members!
So after quite a bit of research, I quickly realized there was only one company that offered all of the above, and it
happened to be the same company that was churning out all those testimonials of five-figure-per-month earners I
kept seeing!
So I joined (actually rejoined after my first attempt failed a year prior, but only because I was so ignorant to actually
follow the training and education – ego much?)
As this company’s bread and butter was in the sales of its blogging platform, see if you can guess the first thing the
training taught me to do? Writing blog content, right? Wrong!
Know Your Purpose or Get Lost!

3. No, the answer isn’t content, although a a very important aspect
of blogging for sure!
Knowing my purpose, or put another way, defining my “Why” was
the first and most important element, and it’s so clear why this is
so. Think about it…if you don’t know why you’re doing what
you’re doing, then why the heck are you doing it! And you can’t
just say “I don’t know” unless you’re just plain stupid!
So I knew I had to ask myself some questions to define my
purpose. Questions like “what do I want”, “who am I doing this
for”, “what long-term outcomes do I want to accomplish”, etc. etc..
This was huge, because if you recall, in my previous go at blogging, I was just focused on the money and anything I
could do to earn more of it! Obviously, this strategy failed miserably!
However, once I defined my purpose for building an online business, only then did I experience true growth in my
income earning ability, and more importantly, my ability to build and grow a team of others that had similar goals!
So I began blogging again – this time with purpose. And not just any random purpose. I made a conscious decision to
blog with a purpose of adding value to, motivating, and edifying my readers. I was intent on providing content that
could help them grow their business and perhaps avoid the same mistakes I made early on (oh wait, I’m still making
mistakes).
At the same time, I began building a brand (Prosperity Living With Corbin) and promoted everything within that brand.
“Honey, I’m Making Money From Blogging!”
Lo and behold, I began making sales and commissions from my blog.
I remember the excitement I couldn’t contain when I earned my first commission, and quickly exclaimed to my wife,
“Honey, I’m making money from blogging!” I began to see consistent results and sales, and watched my monthly
online income grow from $200 a month to $750, then to $900, then to $2000.
Then in January 2015, I saw my income soar to over $6800, and most of it was from just a half-dozen commissions!
All of this success was a direct result of simply taking some time to really think about what my purpose was as an
internet marketer and blogger. The funny thing was, I still was as insecure as ever as to the quality of my writing, but I
learned how to separate myself from the outcome and just decided to do my best and accept that my best was good
enough!

4. Today, I am so thankful that I gave myself another chance, and that I came across a system that could teach me how
to become successful at blogging even though I wasn’t a “blogger”! And I’m even more grateful that I can share this
