Thanks to you
We are tremendously grateful for your
support this year as we prepare precious
children – regardless of their family’s
income – for school and life. Thank you
for being a part of our loving community
committed to their success!
LOCC opens
This spring we were delighted to open the Louise Odom
Children’s Center and we were able to secure enough interest
from families to fill our enrollment capacity by the end of June!
We are thrilled to have been able to expand our programs from
55 to include 31 new families this year and we are considering
opening a second toddler room in response to family demand!
Ready for Kindergarten!
We are also proud to report that our
teachers and loving staff have once
again ensured that each child who
‘graduated’ from King’s Daughters this
fall left ready for Kindergarten:
ALL of our pre-K children met or exceeded national
benchmarks on the Get Ready to Read assessment and
95% met Phonological Awareness Literary Screening
benchmarks with an average increase of 70% growth in
literacy skills.
ALL of our pre-K children met 6 personalized and
developmentally appropriate social/emotional, self-help,
cognitive, physical, and communication goals!

Heartfelt THANKS from our Executive Director:
“Igniting Imaginations” is our center theme this year and thanks to you, our supporters,
we have been able to imagine, dream large, and ponder the “what if’s”.
We imagined a wonderful place of joy and love for infants and toddlers… and this past
May we opened the doors to The Louise Odom’s Children Center.
We dreamed of continuing to provide care to those in our community who need it most…
and our center is currently at full capacity and lead by a team of mission-driven teachers
and staff.
We dared to think of the “what if’s” …“what if we were able to enhance our Reggio
Inspired program with real world experience and training?”… and now a group of us will
be able to travel to Reggio Emilia, Italy to study for a week and bring home a wealth of
information and experience to share with our families, children, staff, and our larger
community of early childhood educators throughout Madison and Nashville.
All of these things are only possible due to the incredible out pouring of support from all
of you. You have walked with us, loved us, dreamed with us, reached into your pockets to
provide financial assistance for us, advised us, and helped us envision and provide this
special place for our children and families.
We pray that you will continue to journey with us – there is much work to be done, many
families to serve, many little ones to love and provide an excellent preschool environment
for, staff to support as they care for and facilitate learning for our children, physical
buildings and learning environments to keep up, and meals to cook so our little ones don’t
go hungry. With your continued support we will continue to be a beacon of hope in our
community, a place of refuge and encouragement, a place of inspiration for all.
Blessings,
Candyee Goode

LOCC opens This spring we were delighted to open the Louise Odom Children’s Center and we were able to secure enough interest from families to fill our enrollment capacity by the end of June! We are thrilled to have been able to expand our programs from 55 to include 31 new families this year and we are considering opening a second toddler room in response to family demand! Ready for Kindergarten! We are also proud to report that our teachers and loving staff have once again ensured that each child who ‘graduated’ from King’s Daughters this fall left ready for Kindergarten: ALL of our pre-K children met or exceeded national benchmarks on the Get Ready to Read assessment and 95% met Phonological Awareness Literary Screening benchmarks with an average increase of 70% growth in literacy skills. ALL of our pre-K children met 6 personalized and developmentally appropriate social/emotional, self-help, cognitive, physical, and communication goals! We imagined a wonderful place of joy and love for infants and toddlers… and this past May we opened the doors to The Louise Odom’s Children Center. We dreamed of continuing to provide care to those in our community who need it most… and our center is currently at full capacity and lead by a team of mission-driven teachers and staff. We dared to think of the “what if’s” …“what if we were able to enhance our Reggio Inspired program with real world experience and training?”… and now a group of us will be able to travel to Reggio Emilia, Italy to study for a week and bring home a wealth of information and experience to share with our families, children, staff, and our larger community of early childhood educators throughout Madison and Nashville. All of these things are only possible due to the incredible out pouring of support from all of you. You have walked with us, loved us, dreamed with us, reached into your pockets to provide financial assistance for us, advised us, and helped us envision and provide this special place for our children and families. We pray that you will continue to journey with us – there is much work to be done, many families to serve, many little ones to love and provide an excellent preschool environment for, staff to support as they care for and facilitate learning for our children, physical buildings and learning environments to keep up, and meals to cook so our little ones don’t go hungry. With your continued support we will continue to be a beacon of hope in our community, a place of refuge and encouragement, a place of inspiration for all. Blessings, Candyee Goode Executive Director King’s Daughters Child Development Center Board of Directors We’re so grateful for our family of volunteers whose hands and hearts help run our center every day.
