Cloud computing - A democracy is born (talk at CII conference on Cloud Computing - Demystifying the Cloud)
1. Cloud computing - A democracy is born Mani Doraisamy Chief Technology Officer, OrangeScape
2. Owning is the root cause of all “evil” Businesses shouldn’t own software. They should rent them!
3. But, Cloud didn’t invent that idea! Cloud ASPs Restaurants ASPs understood the need. But did not know how to execute it :-( Lesson: If you want to give it away, find someone who will do that to you!
4. So what did Cloud invent ? It invented elasticity
5. Why elasticity? Sharing Growth Slashdot effect ‘Elasticity’ makes ‘Pay-per-use’ (renting) model viable!
6. Starting it up! Your customers are here! You are here! It only matters if you have this “great” new idea. Network (i.e. distribution) & infrastructure is now democratized!
7. Scaling it up! Cloud applications are built for unpredictability - Your platform should be elastic!
8. Not without trade-off Restrictive – Stateless architecture Not portability – NoSQL storage (Or) Choose OrangeScape – for visual development Spring framework – for coding
9. What was I saying for the past 30 minutes ? Pay-per-use is the business model for Cloud. That is not new Cloud invented the technology to make ‘Pay-per-use’ a reality Cloud democratizes product creation & delivery Choosing PaaS protects you from unpredictability PaaS can be bitter pill. You could use some sugar - OrangeScape!
