Leave after breakfast for Hangzhou (one of the most beautiful cities in China)
Check into Hotel
Lunch hosted by Zhejiang University (one of the major universities in China)
Visit Zhejiang University and its library – a meeting is arrange with the officials and professors at
the university in Library Information Science.
Visit the Zhejiang Provincial library
Dinner and tour around the west lake area as well as some evening attractions (boat ride is extra)
Return to Hotel around 9:30 pm
May 23rd
Check out of the hotel after breakfast (load luggage unto bus)
Visit Lingyin Temple (the most important Buddhist temple in China)
Lunch
Take plane trip to Xian at 3:45pm
Check into Xian Hotel
Evening free
May 24th
Full day tour after breakfast of Terra Cotta Soldiers and Banpo (includes Lunch along the way)
Evening: Tang Dynasty performance and dumpling banquet

2. May 25th
Morning city tour after breakfast
Lunch in the city
Drive to Danfeng (an Evergreen Site with a library in Danfeng high school, Public library, and 2
book stations at local farms)
Have dinner and Stay overnight in Danfeng
Walk around Danfeng on your own
May 26th
Visit Evergreen libraries at Danfeng. Meet with librarians and principal of Danfeng high school
Lunch
Leave for Xian in the afternoon
Dinner in Xian
Evening is free (you may wish to visit the street market there)
May 27th
Those who end their tour here can return to Shanghai by plane.
Those who can go on will take a morning train to TianShui
Lunch in TianShui
Visit Magi Mountain (one of the important mountain carving sites in China)
Dinner and overnight in Tianshui
May 28th
Go to TongWei after breakfast and check into guest house
Lunch
Visit Evergreen libraries
TongWei No. 1 high school
TongWei Public library

3. Agriculture stations
If time permits, 2 middle school book stations
Dinner and stay overnight in TongWei

Meeting with TongWei’s librarians and principals
Lunch
Go to Lanzhou by bus and check into Hotel
Dinner in Lanzhou
May 30th
Visit BingMin Temple after breakfast. This is a full days tour that involves going to a mountain area
by boat. There are caves with carvings in the caves.
Dinner back in Lanzhou
May 31st
Fly to Shanghai after breakfast

Expected Costs:

to May 27th
– includes 2 plane tickets (Hangzhou to Xian and Xian to Shanghai around
$420) around $700 USD in total which includes all meals, hotels tours and transportation form
Hangzhou hotel to Shanghai airport.
May 22nd
to May 31st
– includes 2 plane tickets (Hangzhou to Xian and Lanzhou to Shanghai around
$450) and one train ride from Xian to Tianshui. The total should be around $1,000 USD.
Methods of payment: In RMB (no credit card). We may have to collect the plane tickets’ expenses
ahead of time as they need to be booked and paid for. I am trying to negotiate with local travel
agencies so that we pay them upon arrival in Huzhou.

4. Note: Tipping is expected for the driver and tour guide. They expect about $5 per day total per
person. You do not need to tip elsewhere.
