  1. Amici e colleghi abituati a lavorare sulla carta stampata faticano a comprendere il metodo da adottare nella vendita dell'online advertising. E' infatti necessario un approccio differente per valutare un sistema di opportunità di comunicazione molto più complesso, sfaccettato e misurabile.
  2. Ecco quindi la necessità un brief più estensivo e strutturato per individuare i mezzi e le opportunità più coerenti con i bisogni del cliente. Il vincolo di budget per una campagna online è imprescindibile: i listini online -specie su siti web di grandi dimensioni e con un'offerta variegata- sono molto più complessi e articolati rispetto a quelli dei mezzi tradizionali. I CPM possono facilmente variare oltre il 1000% a seconda dei volumi acquistati e della struttura della campagna. Le campagne per di più sono spesso costruite con prezzi ad hoc il che rende impossibile estrapolare/rifdistribuire solo alcuni elementi da una specifica offerta. Gli elementi chiave sono volti a individuare in primis gli obiettivi della comunicazione: brand awarness, message association, action/purchase intent,etc. E' poi necesario comprendere il messaggio che verrà veicolato, così come il tono della comunicazione per individuare i contesti più appropriati ed escludere quelli non coerenti. L'audience da raggiungere è il terzo elemento fondamentale per il successo della campagna, che determina -insieme al messaggio da veicolare- poi le scelte implementative in termini di targeting, mezzi, formati, timeframe, daypart, etc.
  3. I formati disponibili sono praticamente infiniti e spesso i siti ne inventano di propri. Nell'immagine sono visibili alcuni tra i banner più comuni con le denominazioni standard che però possono variare da sito a sito. E' bene tenere presente che -ceteris paribus- al crescere delle dimensioni aumentano i click through rate ma contemporaneamente anche i costi
  4. L'online advertising viene spesso visto come un mezzo direct response, Ricerche condotte con metodo statistico e pratica quotidiana dei migliori brand al mondo hanno dimostrato come l'online adv sia estremamente efficace neoi processi di branding e posiuzionamento. Tutte le dimensioni associate al brand beneficiano in maniera più che significativa dalla pianificazione di advertising online
  5. E' necessario diventare familiari con le misure più comunement eusate: CPM, CTR, CPC, CPA
  6. La direct response (click) è intrinseca al mezzo onlinema non sempre il CTR è il migliore indicatore delle performance di una campagna.Ad esempio nel caso di una campagna di branding utilizzare il CTR per valutarne le performance è un non-senso. E tuttavia, data la misurabilità intrinseca al mezzo Internet, è bene avere chiaro quali sono le performance medie/minime che è lecito aspettarsi. Valori di CTR al di sotto della media vanno valutati attentamente per individuare le cause che possono essere le più svariate: da una creatività sbagliata alla mancanza di una call to action, da errori nel targeting a una generale swcarsa performance in termini di traffic driving del mezzo utilizzato.
  7. Ma come vengono misurate le performance? Durante lo svolgimento e al termine della campagna viene prodotto un delivery report, che può essere variamente strutturato a seconda del tipo di obiettivo e di campagna ( branding, CPM; CPC, CPA) pianificato. L'informazione minima tipica per le più comuni campagne CPM è quella che rileva le impression effettivamente pubblicate e lo scostamento rispetto al pianificato, i clcik ottenuti e il Click through rate. Il report deve essere valutato con attenzione. L'analisi dei risultati ottenuti e delle ragioni della performance è un momento di crescita nella conoscenza dei mezzi e dei meccanismi tipici della pubblicitàInternet, e può diventare un momento di ulteriore rafforzamento del legame con il cliente.
