*Read about going back to school. *Find meaning from the context.
*Listen to a play in going back to school *Recall all vocabulary words and use it in a sentence.
*Recall and act out the activities they can do during holidays. *Write down reasons why holidays are better than school.
*Make a packing list for a beach holiday. *Write down reasons why school is better than holidays.
*Listen to the audio to test their listening skills. *Make a list of best things they have done in the school year.
Anticipated Problem:
Unwanted misbehavior in the class
Difficulty in understanding the text
Difficulty in answering the activity
Difficulty in writing
Unable to recall all the lessons
Possible Solutions:
Proper classroom management
Explain and simplify it for better understanding

Learning Plan: Back to school, Writing, Listening and Vocabulary Revision

  • 1. Class: Grade 4 Date: April 30 – May 4, 2017 LB Page: 134-141 AB Page: 108-111 Period: Duration: 40 mins/day Objectives: At the lessons students should be able to… *Read about going back to school. *Find meaning from the context. *Listen to a play in going back to school *Recall all vocabulary words and use it in a sentence. *Recall and act out the activities they can do during holidays. *Write down reasons why holidays are better than school. *Make a packing list for a beach holiday. *Write down reasons why school is better than holidays. *Listen to the audio to test their listening skills. *Make a list of best things they have done in the school year. Anticipated Problem: Unwanted misbehavior in the class Difficulty in understanding the text Difficulty in answering the activity Difficulty in writing Unable to recall all the lessons Possible Solutions: Proper classroom management Explain and simplify it for better understanding Give more time to students Give struggling students one-on-one assistant during independent working time Conduct review and give study guidelines
  • 2. Aids/Materials Board, board markers, notebook, Language book, practice book, weekly plan with spelling words, computer and overhead projector, speaker, worksheets. New Vocabulary: Vocabulary / Spelling test / Attached weekly plan and study guidelines. Stage Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity Timings Checking Questions. Etc. Day 1 Warm up Presentation Discussion Review the spelling and meaning of vocabulary words Give class a vocabulary test Give class a spelling test Tell the class how they feel about going back to school after a long holiday and the preparations they make for the first day back. Focus on the picture and help learners make predictions about what they might hear. Discuss how the children are feeling and why. Reviewing the previous vocabulary words and correct spelling Answering the worksheet: Vocabulary Test Writing the correct spelling of the words Participating in the class discussion Listening to Parts 1 and 2 of the play and finding out what the children are talking about. Listening: CD track 42 (LB page 134-135) 5 mins 10 mins 15 mins How do you feel about going back to school after long school holidays? What preparations do you make for your first day back? Do you buy new book, a new uniform? Does someone make your lunch for you?
  • 3. Application/ Assessment Day 2 Warm up Presentation Discussion Give class activity Reintroduce the question from Lesson 1. Discuss learners’ responses to the question. Group the students. Have a competition in teams to see which team can recall all the activities they can do during holidays. A learner from each team has a turn at the front of the class to act out the holiday activities while the other team members guess. Ask learners to make a list of best things they have done since the beginning of the school year. Answering AB page 108-109 Sharing their ideas in the class. Acting out the activities they can do in the holidays.
