Running Head: Racial Discrimination Houston 6 Racial Discrimination Final Project Milestone Two: Article Critique Johnathen Houston PSY-216-Q1822 Dr. Liza Smith 10/25/15 Objective Analysis The article that is well about racism has been well represented in the article’s content. The title that is about the gender and socio-economic differences in the experiences of African Americans is well elaborated in the article. This is because, within the article, the experiment that was done was major to try and find out about how men and women are mistreated on the different socioeconomic environment (Adler, 2000). Within the introduction, the purpose that is basing on the health effects of racism is well elaborated. Considering the be an exploration on the method to which the investigation will be done through different socioeconomic position such as education, financial and employment status, the prediction of the title is captured well in the introduction of the article. The discussion is relevant. It is relevant in essence that, it is that we can understand to which discriminations done in the offices that most of the officers operate. The discussion is further relevant given the fact statistical methods have been sued to do the experiment (Barg, 2005).Using the exact figure makes not only a thorough but an actual result to be relied upon. Using a sample size of 144 people to me is underemphasizing of the discrimination in the states. Given the number of people living in the US are many, a better number of participants would have been used. The issue of the socio-emotional prospect is less emphasized. It should have been made so clear that, in the United States and the United Kingdom, it is in this set ups that moist of the discrimination occur. Limiting the age made the age made the experiment a little bit less factual as the result should have focused more on a range of age like, for instance, the socioeconomic discrimination on young people is not much pronounced as that for the aged people who are workplaces. New York City only should not have been the only place to make the data valid. The authors’ statements are very clear. It is clear in the sense that, most of the assumptions made are what happens exactly in the field. It is ambiguous for the data to claim that the modest size could have been used which could not limit the sample size. It is of the essence to not that, in an analysis, depending on the population, is a small size can be very useful in making an assumption. The authors want to validate different assumption his research. First of all, there is an assumption that Africans are a threat to security and as a form of discrimination; they must be frisked very well as in the care of Joan. The author assumes that in most of the cases of racism, men are the target of racism, and they are the ones who are affected more. The third assumption by the author is that the socioeconomic status of the society is not consistent and is sub.

BEHS103 – Interdisciplinarity and the Social Sciences Social science refers to any field of study that examines human behaviors within the context of society. Included in the social sciences are the fields of anthropology, criminology, economics, geography, gerontology, history, law, political science, psychology, and sociology. Each of these fields has its own vocabulary, theories, and methodologies. Each makes sense of social problems from a disciplinary lens that is necessarily biased and limited in scope. Increasingly, social scientists recognize that social phenomena are best understood when examined from the perspectives of multiple disciplines and within the social sciences we see greater collaboration across fields as well as the borrowing of methods and terminology. At UMUC, the BEHS designator identifies courses that examine social problems from an interdisciplinary perspective. The term “interdisciplinarity” suggests that we can gain a richer and more meaningful understanding of social phenomena by incorporating the perspectives of more than one traditional discipline. In John Godfrey Saxe’s (1963) famous poem, “The Blind Men and the Elephant,” six blind men attempt to describe the characteristics of an elephant from their different vantage points. One man, feeling the elephant’s knee, describes it as a tree, while another holding onto the tail compares it to a rope. Though each man is accurate, each focuses so narrowly on one part of the elephant that none can appreciate the whole. And so these men of Indostan Disputed loud and long, Each in his own opinion Exceeding stiff and strong, Though each was partly in the right, And all were in the wrong! MORAL. So oft in theologic wars, The disputants, I ween, Rail on in utter ignorance Of what each other mean, And prate about an ElephantNot one of them has seen! In the social sciences, there is a growing recognition that the complexities of social issues cannot be fully understood through just one disciplinary lens. Social forces exert their impact at multiple levels (e.g. individual, group, community, society), often with far-reaching consequences that are best appreciated by a sweeping assessment across disciplines. In Nissani’s (1997) classic article “Ten Cheers for Interdisciplinarity,” the advantages and pitfalls of interdisciplinary exploration are outlined. There are many reasons why interdisciplinarity is valuable, including: · Greater opportunities for creative thinking · Greater likelihood of detecting errors through the eyes of someone with different background · Greater ability to explore and understand complex social problems · Greater flexibility and branching out in research · Willingness to explore new territory · Ability to serve as translators and moderators between disciplines · Creating greater synergy between disciplines resulting in outcomes that cut across disciplines and advance science and social justice OVERVIEW OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES Alth ...

Children are getting violent and the peers are victimized by the aggressive behaviour among the peer group. Most of the ill will causes are somehow linked with or related with the level of aggression and therefore it becomes important that the factors impacting the aggression in adult and children are studied and examined, so as to address the related issues. Aggressiveness can be classified in short term or long term run. Short behaviour can also be referred as mimicry and the long term aggressiveness is linked with the problem of the brain and can be dangerous for both short and long term (Nauert, 2008). In the fall of 2002, at the request of Concerned Citizens for Topeka, a group of researchers from Washburn University began a research project designed to gain some understanding of how people experience discrimination in Topeka, Kansas. The research team developed a survey instrument and a set of guiding questions that would appropriately glean the data desired. The survey instrument was mailed to every third registered voter on that list. A total of 18,000 surveys were mailed. In addition to survey data, the research team collected qualitative data at nine town hall meetings over the course of nine weeks (one in each city council district). The qualitative data summarized in this report came from written responses added to the survey instrument and a series of open-ended questions asked by the research team during the town hall meetings. Complete a scientific inquiry research using three credible sources. Start by summarizing the similarities and differences between social inquiry and the everyday assumptions that people make. In addition, analyze the way claims are made, based on these two different approaches. Provide at least one example for each. Solution Scientific inquiry Source :Husband and Wife Differences in Response to Undesirable Life Events In our society today we have so many dynamics to a “family.” Many things factor into these rolls and they are not things that were seen 10 or even 5 years ago! We have woman’s rights, equality, Stay at home fathers, gay rights, and single parent homes. The divorce rate is higher than ever and what was normal for a family last year is not the same today by any means. After reading the study you realize that the author is testing about how certain stressors in a person’s life can affect them in different ways depending on what sex they are. The author states that men and woman deal with things on a different level and each process things in a different manor. Whereas, something that may affect a man, will not have as much bearing on a woman and vies versa. Woman tested were more prone to psychological problems like depression and anxiety. Men tested were more likely to demonstrate other symptoms of distress such as alcohol or drug use. They believed that men would become more hostile about situations and woman would be anxious about the same situation In the present study of 451 married couples living in the rural midwest, gender differences were examined in reports of exposure and vulnerability to specific types of undesirable life events. Consistent with expectations derived from either a social structural or identity perspective, the results demonstrated that men are more likely than women to report exposure to and to be distressed by work and financial events. Women, on the other hand, are more strongly influenced by exposure to negative events within the family but not within their network of friends. Outcomes vary according to the type of emotional distress. Financial stress, for example, increases hostility among men more than among women, but wives are more likely than husbands to report somatic complaints in response to the same stressor. The findings demonstrate the need for future research that more directly investigates the intraindividual and social mechanisms which account for gender differences in a broad range of emotional and behavioral responses to varying types of significant life changes. Inquiry is a natural human activity; that is, people seek a general understanding about the world around them. We recognize that present circumstances affect future circumstances. We learn that getting an education will determine the amount of money we earn later in life. The key to inquiry is observation. We can never understand the way things work without first having something to understand. Understanding through experienc.

In our research paper titled "Qualitative Analysis on Tax Evasion and Reasons for Reluctance to Join ATL in Pakistan," we delve into the intricate dynamics of tax compliance and explore the underlying reasons why individuals in Pakistan might hesitate to become a part of the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) within the framework of business law and taxation. With a multidisciplinary approach, our team of five researchers embarked on an in-depth exploration of tax evasion behaviors and the factors influencing them. Through qualitative analysis, we aimed to unravel the complex interplay of socio-economic, cultural, and institutional factors shaping tax compliance attitudes among Pakistani taxpayers. Drawing on a diverse range of qualitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, and content analysis, we gathered rich insights from a diverse sample of individuals representing various sectors of the economy. By immersing ourselves in the lived experiences and perceptions of taxpayers, tax advisors, and legal experts, we uncovered nuanced perspectives on tax evasion practices and attitudes toward ATL membership. Our findings highlight the multifaceted nature of tax evasion in Pakistan, shedding light on both the motivations driving non-compliance and the barriers to ATL enrollment. From perceived inefficiencies in the tax system to cultural norms and trust deficits in governmental institutions, our research identifies a myriad of factors contributing to tax evasion behavior and reluctance to join ATL. Furthermore, our study offers valuable implications for policymakers, tax authorities, and business stakeholders seeking to enhance tax compliance and foster a culture of transparency and accountability in Pakistan's taxation landscape. By addressing the underlying drivers of tax evasion and promoting the benefits of ATL membership, policymakers can design more effective strategies to broaden the tax base and promote sustainable economic development. In conclusion, our research paper represents a comprehensive endeavor to deepen our understanding of tax compliance dynamics in Pakistan and elucidate the complexities surrounding ATL enrollment. By unraveling the intricacies of tax evasion behaviors and attitudes, we hope to contribute to informed policymaking and foster a culture of tax compliance and integrity in Pakistan's business and taxation environment.

Transformation is even harder than we thought “Only 22% of companies successfully carry out transformation. The failure rate was 78%.” “Often the business value of digital transformation is not realized. One of the most common causes is an abundance of technology projects, not a true business culture transformation” - Phil Le-Brun, Enterprise Strategist, AWS
