The earliest predecessor of the game
probably originated in India, before the 6th
century AD; a minority of historians believe
the game originated in China.

5. King
• In chess, the king (♔, ♚) is the most important piece. The
object of the game is to trap the opponent's king so that its
escape is not possible (checkmate). A king can move one
square in any direction.
6. Queen
The queen (♕,♛) is the most powerful piece in the game
of chess, able to move any number of squares vertically,
horizontally or diagonally.
7. Bishop
• Each player begins the game with two
bishops. The bishop has no restrictions in
distance for each move, but is limited
to diagonal movement.
8. Knight
• The knight move is unusual among chess pieces. When
it moves, it can move to a square that is two squares
horizontally and one square vertically, or two squares
vertically and one square horizontally. The complete
move therefore looks like the letter L
9. Rook
• The rook moves horizontally or vertically,
through any number of unoccupied squares.
10. Pawn
Unlike the other pieces, pawns may
not move backwards. Normally a
pawn moves by advancing a single
square.
11. Levon Grigori Aronian (Armenian: Լևոն
Գրիգորի Արոնյան; born 6 October 1982)
is an Armenian chess Grandmaster.
12. • Aronian won the Chess World Cup 2005. He led the
Armenian national team to the gold medals in the
37th Chess Olympiad,Turin 2006, the 38th
Olympiad, Dresden 2008,[3] and the World Team Chess
Championship in Ningbo, 2011. In the Chess Olympiad
2010 at Khanty-Mansiysk he won the silver medal for
his individual performance on board one.[4]
13. • In January 2011, he tied for 3rd–4th with
Magnus Carlsen in the 73rd Tata Steel Chess
Tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
